Boston

Having someone I grew up with been arrested and sitting in a cell for armed kidnapping among other things on his rap sheet, its not really all that much.

I just see it as someone made the wrong choice in his path in life and leave it at that. Since truthfully if you never knew, what could you have done anyways right?

Well there's a difference between someone you grew up with, and someone you played soccer with two days ago.

This is going to sound unusual, but they should not do the terrible things some people have mentioned to this kid. They need to actually be quite amicable, and investigate exactly how and why these guys did what they did. The fact that ordinary American residents such as this, who were seemingly well assimilated, were able to carry out such atrocities, is a hugely dangerous and scary thing. Instead of being draconian they need to be diplomatic and intelligent in how they extract information to get the maximum amount of co-operation from him.

Whatever led to this kid being able to so so grossly misdirected, needs to be understood, stamped out and dealt with at the core level.

Yeah, people are just blowing off steam tonight - hopefully, at least. I've got faith in them to handle the trial the right way, assuming he lives which seems pretty likely (right?).

Fiber?

Just get him a couple of these and call it a day.

he'll finally be able to watch all the gif's he's spent years trying to load

Been following this thread since 6am today. Read most of the posts and got constant up to date info. It was intense, scary and even had a few laughs along the way.

GAF >>> news stations.

Agreed. Also, GAF news >>> other forum news.

GAF's "breaking news" threads are off the chain! I haven't been to the main forum (OT) in several hours but I'm sure it's like 1.5 million views in like 20 hours lol

Hats off to the Boston PD and FBI.

As a younger brother who got talked into some stupid shit by my older brother I can feel for the kid... Can't even imagine what is going through his mind right now.

Is this the biggest manhunt to ever happen in a post-twitter, post-social networking world? If this is the case, I'm glad to be part of history!

The local stations I have relied on have been WCVB ABC CH.5, WFXT FOX CH.25 and WBZ CBS CH.4.

CNN was a joke.

Good to see the local channels being supported! They're almost always the best at live reporting. I'm in Ohio, so I had to stick to the national networks, sadly.

Of course they are going to treat him humanely, even if the guy doesn't deserve it.

Is there a thread about how all this went down? I think there needs to be a discussion about it. I might be alone, but I'm not really comfortable with a lot of things that happened in this thread or elsewhere.

Welcome to the wired world. Better get used to it, since its all downhill from here.

*not being sarcastic.

I wouldn't worry about the Miranda warning stuff at all. It is not like this case is going to hinge on using his statements to incriminate him. Between the videos, the shoot-outs, evidence that they'll dig up from their homes . . . a conviction is pretty certain. So it is not really important at all in this case whether the give the warning or not.

Out of all the forums and social media, GAF was the place to be during this entire ordeal not only for updates but the cordial and mature comments.

MSNBC just did an interview with the neighbor of the family since years ago.

She seemed really surprised that it's them. She said (as Christians) they broke bread with the family, was a smart family, nice family.

As of right now, there is definitely no known motive and all people who knew him are just stunned they did this.

It's Islam. Radical, of course. Good luck with that.

I feel you man, shit was really weird. I honestly think this event will be incredibly influential on law enforcement, social networking and the internet in general.

No but it would be an interesting and shitty discussion to have for sure since social media provided a lot of bullying of innocent people.

I wonder if he will even talk

He's 19 and it's pretty apparent he wasn't like his brother. He didn't want to die. He was running scared and he gave himself up. He could have killed himself at any point. He'll talk. Like what others have said, I think his brother was the mastermind and had significant influence over his younger brother. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the older brother who killed the cop too.

Yeah it was good. Even though bunch of fake shit was posted right next to it was real stuff. It was something else.

Just what a shitty week....just fucking terrible...4 people died and nearly 200 people injured. People losing limbs. All because they were at the wrong place at the wrong time. Just an unfair world.

I guess I can't get in the frame of mind of people living under lockdown for a day -- but does it seem like Boston just had the Avengers beat back an alien invasion that nearly destroyed their entire city?

Glad people are safe, but until we know what influences pushed the guys to commit these acts, I'm worried that this can happen again.

Fox's Eric Shawn reporting that law enforcement authorities told him they got ZERO information from any of the brothers' family or extended family after the photos were distributed.

Disgusting.
