Haven't been following the family that closely to know that, the father didn't speak a lick of English so I just assumed they weren't planning on spending the rest of their lives here as citizens.

I don't condone breaking laws to deal with deluded parents. But boy howdy, I've never seen such denial.

Denial isn't a crime, unless they specifically helped the suspect then I don't see why they have to be punished.

The Boston PD didn't find squat. It was a private citizen that found him. In fact they let him get away, then spent the day failing to find him after calling in thousands of officers and the National Guard. It was worse than the Blues Brothers movie.
I can't wait to see the taxpayer's bill for this little escapade.

They had to contain a relatively large area with a high population density and lots of places to hide.

When they engaged them, the suspects threw bombs in populated areas of city. Furthermore, it's not like the officers could just let loose when they engaged because their assault rifle rounds would easily penetrate the walls of houses in the line of fire. They had to clear the bombs that were thrown by the suspects. They had to clear the search area block by block while coordinating a massive effort to keep him from sneaking out of a city of millions of people.

This. I'm kind of glad that suspect No. 2 was taken into custody alive. The entire side of my father's family is from the Boston. Mass. area. I know that we all have bloodlust and if I were the parents of that 8-year-old kid that got killed, I'd want his head on a pike. That being said, we are a nation of laws. We have a chance to show the rest of the world, especially those places that hate us, that we can give one of our most hated and detested enemies/criminals a fair trial and a day in court even if his conviction is a forgone conclusion at this point. Don't forget this piece of shit is an Amecrican citizen and has all the rights us normal people have. Yeah, of course, a part of me would like to see this guy taken out back and shot, but we are a civilized society (to some extent.) A friend of mine from high school tweeted that the bomber was another kid that went to school with us that disappeared in the Boston area recently and SWAT busted into his house a neighborhood over from mine.
