I am a bit more hyped today than I was yesterday about this. I figure we are going to actually see the console, which is nice.

It's interesting seeing how Xbox fans react to the same treatment they dished out to Sony fans for a large part of this gen? I guess it's also thanks in part to MS, they've let rumours fester and PS4, unless you are a fanboy idiot, looks amazingly strong in terms of hardware. If MS can do better, then great... if they can't then who cares... we still have PS4. As a community we can't lose at this point... unless you care about the colour of the logo on the box more than what the box does? In which case, bicker away!

I absolutely agree that this should be a fun time for all of us...

This could very well be the last generation of consoles as we know them.... stop bitching and just enjoy the ride.... it could be the last chance we get.

I doesn't even really matter who is better or why, as long as we end up with good games.

Just buy the best console for you and your needs and enjoy it?

I know.... radical.

This is quite silly IMO. I agree that this should be a fun time for all of us, so why do people who obviously prefer Sony need to shit up these threads with the same crap over and over? I wasn't around on GAF during the ps2 and xbox days, but judging how people here recall fond memories of the PS2, it seems like the lack of power in that system didn't hinder anyone's ability to enjoy games on the platform. So why should it be any different with the PS4 and Durango? Even if MS doesn't match Sony in performance, there's no reason why that system couldn't have great games as well. This is something many here seem to forget.

I plan to buy and enjoy all of the consoles but I've already seen many threads ruined by a certain fanbase assuming their system was more powerful and thus should be receiving better attention this gen. I don't want to see how annoying these same people are going to be when the system they prefer is factually more powerful.

Sony is primarily being praised because GAF is a hardcore gaming community and Sony seems to be focused on games more than their competitors. This has especially been true the past two or three years. So they've got software momentum. The fact that the PS4 is easier to develop for considering the PS3 was a nightmare to develop for only aids those types of sentiments.

That's still no excuse to shit on systems that these people obviously have no interest in or don't prefer. Then again you're the one who's able to call a whole group of people idiots and get away with it, so I guess you'll make excuses for any sad actions.

One thing I hope for is that in game messaging will be faster...sometimes it takes forever to send a message on 360.

Yeah I'm hoping both consoles are much better with the community aspect. Messaging is horribly slow on the 360 now.

I don't want to get into an argument about what Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are or are not focused on, but my point is just that people take note of things they don't expect rather than things they do expect. Like I said in the other thread I think it's a very canny PR strategy by Sony.

Well said.

Also lol at there won't be games.

Im pretty sure we will be seeing some games at this thing...with the "full lineup" at E3. It would be ridiculous to unveil this thing and not show a single game.
It probably wont be like Sonys where they had devs come out and talk about what theyre working on and whatnot but Im sure there will be trailers and sizzle reels and all that other fun stuff.

You know that on 21st there won't be games, just hardware and system and "the future", right?

They said it already:

http://www.polygon.com/2013/4/24/42...ne-up-of-next-gen-xbox-games-at-e3-on-june-10

They said that at E3 they will show the *full* lineup. That doesn't mean they won't show anything on the 21st. More likely they will show a small taste of the lineup. There's no way they can do the console announcement without showing some software.

They ate announceing a new console n people are saying they might not show a game till e3 seriously Wtf is wrong with people

Just woke up, and honestly, this thread is kinda...slow. Expected a little more hoopla.

But anyways, my honest opinion is that we won't see games at this thing. An hour is kinda just too short. Here is what they would have to cram in that hour in no specific order:

-The Xbox vision intro
-New Controller
-What the box looks like
-Kinect 2.0
-New entertainment experiences
-New apps
-What is inside the box
-First party games
-Third party games

Ehhh, I just don't see an hour being enough.

But then again, it is being broadcast on Spike tv. I don't think they could get away with showing NOTHING. So maybe 1 or 2 high profile games.

I expect 2 games to be shown with the rest of the time being devoted to hardware, OS features and some talk about how far they've come. I'd be absolutely fine with that as E3 would be right around the corner.

I wonder why there weren't posts like these in the Sony announce thread?

It's seems like even if MS announced something great, you wouldn't care either way.

The Xbox Infinity pic? It's been posted a lot recently, what's so bad about it?

The assumption that the new Xbox will be covered in services. The Xbox 360 is already covered in services. How about something new? lol

Nobody wants to hear about old shit for a new console.

Just poking fun at ads being used all the time for Xbox Live, more so I bet those types of features would be shown off at E3 this year rather than their console unveiling.

Ads are one thing. I'm ready to jump out if the console forces online to function. That is the only thing that is worthy of backlash.

I love threads like this because on the 21st people will either backpedal or just have to eat so much crow. Microsoft always brings it with the Xbox division. I just wish we would get to see CliffyB out there announcing his new project soon :P

No entertainment box. Microsoft originally planned to offer both a “full” version of the next Xbox (with video game playing capabilities) and a lower-end entertainment-oriented version, codenamed “Yuma,” that did not provide video gaming capabilities. But plans for Yuma are on hold and no pure entertainment version of the next Xbox will appear in 2013 (or possibly ever).

Interesting...

Oh, I see. Maybe my phone pulls it up differently as all I saw was the same "infinite possibilities" pic when I clicked the link.

Also interesting that Yuma was given the axe. I wonder if the 360 mini is basically taking its place?

Yeah. I wonder that too.

That has me worried because I can imagine a scenario where the next Xbox is NOT anti-used games and NOT always online and Microsoft ends up getting praised for it. Instead, they should be shitted on for even considering it.

How can you shit on something for being considered? Also, Sony has a patent in place for anti-used games. They didn't go through with it. Are you "shitting" on them as well?

-PS4's announcement really caused MS to scramble to make changes and delay their original announcement date (April 24)
-NextBox launching Nov 2013 - $499 model or $299 model with 2 year LIVE sub at $10/month
-"Always on/Always connected" is there but it is not as "Draconian as some may think"

I'm so sick of this opinion. As been stated multiple time by many many people. 3 months is not enough time to redesign a console. MS's main competitors are google and apple with a 'side' of Sony. MS isn't scrambling off of a very general press conference held by Sony. It's illogical to jump to that conclusion.

I wouldn't mind seeing some Alan Wake 2! Beyond that nothing that I can think of could interest me. Forza next-gen and how they'll treat Kinect 2 might be interesting to see too I guess.

I hope I live in an apartment that let me use Kinect better. I moved last year and my room is too small. I miss playing Golf in the demo of Kinect Sports.

They have to show us the console and its features and some games.

The last thing MS would want is to have more backlash and bad attitudes towards xbox.

Yeah new ip suck. They will have new games. I don't like most playstation exclusives but I know the ps4 will have new games so I'm not gonna bash it especially before it was announced.

I didn't mean changes as in hardware changes. They may have had to revise their presentation, get different presenters, arrange plans to show certain games over another, etc. There's no doubt PS4's early announcement has caused MS to alter some of their plans.

Obviously they will save the big game reveals for E3, but I would be surprised if they didn't at least show something. Even if it is a quick teaser/montage trailer maybe?

I would think some kind of exciting game reveal would drive pre-orders of the system more than anything else, and they don't want to wait until e3 when Sony will also be showing a shit load of stuff.

The interesting part of this is what you left out though:

"The next Xbox must be internet-connected to use. This is source of the “always on”/“always online” rumors and isn’t as Draconian as many seem to believe."

Must be internet-connected to use sounds like the sticking point for some (doesn't affect me, but I understand that I do not = the world). This won't go over well on GAF me thinks.

I will never believe this rumor. There are just far too many people without internet or reliable internet for Microsoft to just cast them aside and say later guys. I still believe that it only applies to the dev kits as well as the mandatory kinect idea.

I also think its funny how he keeps trying to defend his statement that they were going to announce on the 24th and pushed it back. Doesn't it seem a little odd that they just so happen to push it back and announce the reveal date on the 24th? I'm pretty sure that sending out invites and making it public on the 24th was always the intention, not to actually reveal it.

With pretty much everything about the Durango, a lot seems to be getting lost from insider to insider so it leads to more misinformation and insiders claiming to know things when in fact they don't shit.

With that said, bring on the 21st of May!

Any leaks in regards to the software?

Edit. It's really hard to call whether they'll focus on games for this conference or wait until E3.

The the hell's wrong with him?

Impossible to leak what doesn't exist.

:D true I suppose.

Id say MS have two massive big budget games in development at the moment, on the scale of Halo. Black Tusks and the new series from Epic. I'm wondering what they launch first. I'm thinking Epic go next year.
