Norcal Regionals 2013 | Road to EVO 2013 Fighting Game Tournament | April 26-28

Really? That's a bit disappointing, you'd think after the big breast cancer drive a lot more people would go out and support the game or because of the drive itself they gained more players. I guess it didn't really motivate people?
The community is a bit different compared to others. There's a vast number of fans who are fans of the story, artstyle, characters, music, etc. who aren't actually looking to play the game competitively.

There are plenty who do play online and enter the online ranbats, but trying to wrangle all of them to show up to the same place for a tournament is a different story. I think EVO will have some pretty great numbers for SG, but I'm not all that confident about the other majors and smaller tourneys.

At least not on the East Coast. West Coast has a healthy scene that regularly shows up to a weekly local partly hosted by the devs of the game. East Coast doesn't really have something comparable at the moment.

I feel bad because I am part of the problem.
It's going to be at ECT5 too.
Oh wow, I forgot about ECT. If I can find someone to let me bum on their floor within the next 6 days then I just might be able to...

The problem is the players, not the game.
You can say that for every game though. If ChrisG didn't play MorriDoom we would have a completely different meta game for Marvel.

Winners:

KaneBlueRiver vs Ranmasama
Neo vs Wentinel

Losers:

PR Rog
vs Justin Wong
Chris G vs X-Ray
Bolded are the players who will be pot splitting. Unsure about the others.

I have no confidence on the people in winners bracket....if ChrisG makes it thru loser, everyone can call it an early night.

Yeah.

No offense to Chris' skills, but if he makes it to GF I'll just close the video. Too good combined with just not being fun to watch.

To be fair though, I've done this for the last three tourny's and I've left pretty happy and much more hype compared to when I was forcing myself to watch Morr/Doom finish it out.

Except MorriDoom is the acknowledged SSS team shell. What Justin/Ricky are playing is not, it's just they're mostly coasting on fundamentals because the game rewards solid fundamentals so heavily.

Getting it on PC will be a big help. I got my laptop a year ago for $400 and it should be able to play SG without breaking a sweat. That'll make transport super easy for locals.

I disagree, the Infiltration match was just as bad. SfxTK is a terrible game anyway, sucks that the scene is still supporting it. I guess it's the Capcom loyalty?

Or they just believe it's a fun and quality game. People tend to want to support what they enjoy.

SFxT is still early in its life cycle though. What's the top team in SFxT?

Speaking of shit meta. Dota 2 is getting balanced before TI3. I might play it again. Maybe.
DOTA 2 is perfectly fine and playable at average brackets for MM, you will get a large variety of heroes and play. You can stay out of RD and Captain's mode though... everyone in my bracket picks the cheap shit.

Ezalor is the Doom of DOTA 2. PL is the Morrigan.

A ton of top players like the game though, Capcom loyalty is a terrible explanation for anything.

Capcom is supporting SFxT much more than it is supporting UMvC3, sadly (licensing issues something something). SFxT got a major patch just a couple of months ago iirc.

Just because you think it's terrible doesn't mean it should stop being supported. I don't like SKullgirls but that doesn't mean people should just stop playing it entirely. SFxT 2013 is great, but some players can't escape the mentality they had in the first version.

SFxT is a good game, always has been. It's just boring to watch 90% of the time, and the top tiers are too derp.

Shit is way better to watch than it used to be though, even if it's still not a great spectator game.

exactly. I play at very high bracket with the hardest of tries. I just play other shit because I fall asleep.

Rolento is top again? I thought they nerfed him.

No matter how many times they nerf him, his footsies are still some of the best.

Do you think PC could start being the go to at locals? It's not like laptops are exactly rare in this day and age and they just keep getting smaller. It could make setting up locals at places like bars way easier when you don't need to lug around both a monitor and console.

Still, I think we should wait to see how it actually runs first. Mike and Peter can say it runs like butter on shit laptops all they want, but I'll believe it when I see it for myself.

Mike's "toaster" runs the game on a 5650M. My $400 laptop from last year has a 7670M. Come June I expect many laptops to run the game smoothly.
