Skullgirls DLC Character vote | The Campaign united us, The Voting will destroy us

Keep in mind that Eliza basically ran away with it shortly after voting started. The hate was that strong. All the fanart and fanfiction in the world won't save the fervor of hate from the tournament players.

the poll Peter sent said that most are happy with the top 4, it's just the vocal minority that might have not even voted because most tourney players didn't even donate that are mad. And of course there's going to be mad people, everyone was divided.

Eliza was not only a "sexy looking" character, but she sound amazing to play as too. (A.B.A., Litchi, Jedah, and fucking Donovan. C'mon, son)

If she haven't won, I would've bashed some skulls...

...but I cannot believe... you guys are seriously do fanfics to Skullgirls. Oh gawd...!

A lot of tournament players donated. Hell I donated $30 myself. But my problem is that my vote as someone who puts a significant amount of time into this game counts just as much as someone who'll play the game for maybe three weeks but wants a character they can draw cutesy fanart about.

I want interesting characters that play well, not characters that only exist for "story" or "art" reasons.

And Beowulf is super creative. He's Rob Van Dam meets Macho Man. A pro wrestler character that can set up his own spots. Super unique. Better than some average 12 year old Ramona Flowers lookalike.

here's the deal, that's your opinion and I don't get the Ramona Flowers reference. I think an approachable character would do TONS for Skullgirls. I really really want Annie in the game and we obviously see them as different chars lol

Beo's cool, but I can't believe he has more votes than Issac. the 3 males I like are Issac, Taliesin, and Adam

Eliza was the best character design of the 32 by a mile. Great aesthetic, interesting gameplay - she really captured your attention.

Never Read Scott Pilgrim?

The irony of me complaing about fanart, then using fanart as an example of comparison

I think a gateway character, more importantly a gateway character that appeals to the people who are already invested in Skullgirls as far as art and lore goes, is exactly what the 'scene' needs. I don't get the mentality of chasing after the 'FGC' and encouraging characters that will make Skullgirls be taken 'seriously' by the mainstream (which is somewhat ridiculous, a male character or whatever else won't magic away the panty flashes or whatever else scares off the 'mainstream') when it'd be so much easier and simpler to encourage the 50% of people who already own Skullgirls, but don't play outside single-player to take a more active part in the 'scene'. And I think it's less that 'they'll never play online ever' because they have absolutely no interest in it, it's because Skullgirls is a reasonably advanced fighter with a number of advanced mechanics, and a bunch of characters that aren't necessarily effective introductions.

A lot of people don't avoid tournaments or online because their interest in the game is purely surface level, it's because none of those people are necessarily willing to invest a couple hours at a time or have fun getting constantly bodied. It's a question of confidence, and a character that appeals in story, and in art (because that's who you're suggesting is behind most of the Annie crowd), but also isn't as daunting to play as, say, Ms. Fortune, while also demanding a less steep learning curve could encourage a lot more people to start dipping their feet into the water.

People have their advanced character with an advanced mechanic for advanced players (and I like Eliza, really). I'd like a character that isn't quite so intimidating to play to 50% of the people who already own the game (or otherwise supported the campaign).

Props to KingofSarus for making the place so lively.

I think only 60% or so were happy? That doesn't include people who were neutral, though. Besides most people were cool with Eliza and Annie, even Minette and Aeon. But that's no reason to assume that the majority want them again.

Beo's cool, but I can't believe he has more votes than Issac.

I feel that a lot of people aren't getting why some might find his gameplay interesting. Plus, WRESTLING!

The personality Beowulf developed as part of the fan campaign is far more interesting than the original character concept.

You know, thinking about it, maybe the team needed to do more of those character gameplay spotlight videos before doing the votes. I see a lot of potential in Annie, but it really depends on how much they're going to play with the Cosmic nature of her powers. Will they just be straightforward things with spatial cosmetics or will I get stuff like ripping open space above a character to rain shooting stars on someone like a Dante Acid Rain mixup or a projectile counter that's literally a black hole? How about those portable micro suns they were teasing, will they allow for rapidly expanding explosions (and thus obnoxious space control) or will they start large for rapidly shrinking self-destruct (I really don't remember where I saw something like this before -- I think it was Futurama but I suck at references) like shenanigans?

Not to mention, we'd also be getting a real sword normal/disjointed hitbox character, something that should also be payed attention to given that Parasoul only has a few disjointed normals herself. There's also been mentions of her getting a beam (ESTAKA) so that'd also bring along Skullgirls' first beam assist.

Also, Sagan. Last I heard, the team loved the idea of him being Stand-like or a Nakoruru's Hawk so there's potential there for great stuff.

I definitely understand how people can be less than enthused when talking about Annie but this whole "my character is more original than yours" thing is ugh.

I agree.

They should do a weekly segment on how Venus will play once she gets in.

Definitely.

I'm pretty sure people should have more confidence in Lab Zero to do well with whatever they're handed, and it's not as though Annie (or Minette or whoever else) doesn't have just as much potential as literally any other character in the roster.

Ad-hominem attacks; the true face of Beowulf fans, gentlemen.

Yeah, I noticed that my sentence sounded mad facetious after I read it again, that's why I edited it. My intentions where not hostile.

Still, you didn't answer my question. I honestly can't see how you can think Beowulf is vanilla after reading his description, that's why I asked.

In other words, still not fascinating at all.

How can there be people who hate wrestling?!

Ravi said that pretty much after voting started on the final round one character had pull out such a commanding lead that he didn't see anyway another character could over take them.

Not only that, while the 2nd to the 5th highest voted characters among the top 8 were pretty close, the top voted character had a significant lead. Chances are it was Eliza.

You sure you want to wait a year and a half for that series of videos? ;)

Edit: I feel bad for saying this, but I don't want Beowulf without Scythana. The dynamic writes itself there.

Liking both Beowulf and Minette, this dudebrowrastling vs lolimoeanime fighting is highly frustrating to me.

Broaden your horizons people!

On the contrary I used to watch it all the time and still watch . But Beowulf's play style and inspirations are boring. He "sounds like" Ryu but a grappler. Obviously they want to implement stance moves or interactables with the chair and honestly that doesn't scream fun to me, it screams boring. And he's a chair fucker.

A vote for Beowulf is more garunteed. Gve him the #1 spot and Minette #2.

I really like the idea of a retired pro who defeated literal monsters with nothing but skills and a little backhand trickery coming back to face the new generation. Plus, how are his inspirations anything like Ryu? Macho man, Tizok, Mika and King are as far from that as you can get.

Plus, his relationship with his chair is something people like you will never understand!

That Minette comic was amazing.

Also, Kimlinh just posted this on her facebook page. I nearly died.

If you've seen Lucky Star, you know this totally fits Annie's persona.

Hey guys, what about that character that's really three characters at once getting switched out as you lose health? That character is interesting, right?
