Skullgirls DLC Character vote | The Campaign united us, The Voting will destroy us

OK, was up late last night with the Humble Bundle guys working the final kinks out of the reward claiming pages.

Full instructions here: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/keep-skullgirls-growing/x/2363858?c=activity

Simple Instructions:

1. Enter e-mail address here: https://www.humblebundle.com/store/keyresender
2. Click the link you get in e-mail
3. Start downloading stuff
4. If applicable, give us your name as you'd like it to appear in the credits, T-shirt size and shipping address
Is there a way to confirm my shipping address? If not, is it OK if I resend it? I accidentally hit the submit button without checking for mistakes. :/
Anyway, the sketchbook is awesome! Can't wait for the wallpapers and digital art compendium.

So when the steam version is done, will humble bundle automatically send us an email with the codes + wallpaper?

Looking through the sketchbook, I am reminded how much I preferred Fortune's old design.

Yeah. Did Alex ever give a reason for the new design? I mean I'm sure they could implemented her new dismemberment tricks while still keeping her old design.

Edit: How many here are going with their real games for the credits? I'm using this nickname.

Some very interesting stuff in the sketchbook, all told. Some of the drawings vs what's in the finished game indicate interesting design choices that were made.

I really hope Rainy Street makes it in as a stage. I love rainy stages!

Another interesting thing is the Filia story hints, alongside a couple of pieces of art that do remind me that Filia's design in-game is actually a lot less exploitative than it could have been. I still think Filia's design would have been a lot better with a slight costume redesign.

I used my real name so I can lie to my impressionable young nephews and tell them I made part of the game. I think I'll claim the supers or something similarly flashy.

I am already in the credits.

Should I be in the credits TWO times ? :'D

One thing I'm really curious about in the sketchbook is the crab legged girl. What her deal? Oh, and the dude with the umberlla/cane/buzzsaw thing.

And it seems a decent number of people have used their real game up until now. I considered using it, but was too chicken =(

Oh, what role did you have in the original game?

I went with the nick I use for every tournament since I felt that'd be more appropiate.

Btw, are the wallpapers not ready yet?

Ditto on this. I'd just like to hear more of Mike and Max on the mic in general (whenever max feels like stopping by that is).

You have a voice made for radio, Max. I know you're really busy with what all you do, but I'd really like to see you give commentating at a tourney a go at least once.

Edit: Also, I totally want to see Mike's parry fix to make zoning in 3rd strike viable again. Holy shit. So simple and brilliant. Iron Galaxy plz
What was the fix? Only work on physical hits?

One of the big takeaways for me from the 32-character faceoff was that character design is hard.

I used my real name.

I'm getting my poster shipped to my work address, but the fields for it on the Humble Store don't accommodate it very well. I had to put like 4 things in the Street Address field. I hope whoever prints up these addresses breaks it down so it doesn't stretch off the side of the label...

I used my real name, and my handle. Best of both worlds!

#TeamRealName
I put my real name up there, but now I'm wondering if it's even possible to add the Azure J handle in there somewhere. :(

You would not be able to parry a projectile that went over 1/4 of the screen. Obviously 3S could use a couple more fixes than just that, but I think something that simple could have huge implications on the viability of characters like Remy. I don't know if Twelve's ground arm thingy is considered a projectile, but that'd be pretty nice for him too if it is. I'm sure Ryu players would like it too.

I don't think the distance rider would be a viable solution, simply due to it leading to "fuzzy" situations where it's not clear if Parry's a viable solution or not.

It seems the Credits form allows you to submit more than once. I wonder if new submissions overwrite prior ones or if only the first is used.

I don't see why not. Dhalsim is already all about measuring space and reading your opponents in the first place. One could even argue that measuring space/space control is what SF is all about.

If you wanted to make it easier for the player to identify the correct space, then I suppose you could do an animation/visual cue (probably not possible at this point with 3S) or an audio cue.

Space/Space control is the basis of fighting games, but that's not really the issue I see. My concern is that you end up in a situation where things don't always work the same way. If you have a counter, for instance, that hits at a certain range, when you hit the counter command, you should get the counter, and the only difference should be "hit or whiff". Having the potential for parries, executed correctly, to have you wind up with a fireball to the face if you were a pixel too close, doesn't seem like an ideal solution. (Having fireballs change color as they travel, on a case by case basis, deteriorating to a "parry-able" state, does seem like a decent solution though.)

True. Definitely a good point. I suppose I'm looking at it this way, that the majority of those still playing 3S are the really hardcore who wouldn't mind (too much) learning the distance and eventually internalizing it.

But then I suppose the point of a hypothetical patch fix for 3S would be to also bring back people who don't play anymore as well as attract potential newcomers.

Hmm, I still like the idea of the fix, to make long range zoning viable without taking away the ability of good players to be able to parry their way in at certain ranges, but it would probably need at the very least some sort of visual cue to indicate when the hit-boxes change. Something to limit the amount "fuzziness" that you mentioned.

Just so I'm clear, the reward claiming stuff applies to all the perks, yes?

Anybody have lyrics for Hitomi no Kioku? With a literal translation. This is my first time hearing the Japanese version of the credits song. :p

Also awaiting to hear about if we can change our credits name; I put my real name, but now that I think about it, I could have put my Username in brackets too.

So yeah I watched the archives, listening to Mike and Max just go on and on towards the end was great.

Also, I went back to the To-Do list and I saw this

Parasoul fixes:

DONE - Axe “that” voice sample. We hardly knew ye...
"that" voice sample? What was it?

Feels so good to finally be listening to the Skullgirls OST in full. All of this was completely worth it.

Juju, unfortunately.

... :(

Ravid said that she'll probably get to come back once the legal stuff is sorted, though!

They removed "Take the shot, Juju"? Man, I knew the character wouldn't be in the polls but (if I'm understanding this right) I didn't think the line itself would go with her.

I really want to hear more FG Science with Max and Mike Z... >.>

Seriously, this stuff is so right up my alley. I initially started playing fighters for more understanding on the genre and how to "make" one.

Edit: Just did my part and put my full name and handle in. Now I wonder how many people will be able to pronounce more than my middle name when they see it. :P

Is there a way to confirm my shipping address? If not, is it OK if I resend it? I accidentally hit the submit button without checking for mistakes. :/

Just submit it again, and we'll use the one with the address.

What do you mean?

It seems the Credits form allows you to submit more than once. I wonder if new submissions overwrite prior ones or if only the first is used.

We'll only use one - the Credits Voucher code or whatever is used to verify them.

Just claimed the first round of stuff.

#TeamRealGAF for my credit: name and handle.

Now it's time for me to get my votes ready for Monday's Salt-a-Thon(tm). I have Beowulf at #1, but after that it's a mystery...

What kind of character does Skullgirls need next?
