There will likely be at least one. I think they'll save their biggest bombs for E3, and I think Sony did the same. Should make the E3 conferences that much more delicious. I'm fully expecting Gaf being down for most of the 10th. :P

Didn't know that. I thought it was open to everyone during the presidential debates last year and just assumed that all of the events were open to everyone. Well, I hope they make it open to everyone then. As someone said, it's all about getting the most amount of eyeballs on it.

I hope so, I preordered the PS4 only based on what they showed at the PS4 meeting minus the games. Not a single game they showed made me want to buy a PS4 (yes, Killzone is highly overrated), but the tech they showed did. I have started considering cancelling my PS4 preorder if they show no interesting games at E3, the same goes for nextbox. I would want a really good racing game (not sim), RDR2 and Fallout 4. If they show PGR I will consider the Nextbox. I like racing games but hate car porn so drive club or GT is not something I want anyway.

Still might keep the PS4 preorder just to show my support for the technology choices they made for the PS4. And if MS does not go all out Kinect and casual and show they care for the Rest of the World (no heavy US focus, i.e. TVbox) I might preorder that as well (though I hate the gold thing, this is why I do not own a 360).

Thats okay.

To explain it better then vgleaks.

The L1 cache as a total is 16kb. (16 * 1024 = 16384 bytes)
The L1 cache line size is 64 bytes.
Therefore the L1 cache has ((16 * 1024) / 64) = 256) lines

Thats the L1 dealt with.

Now the CU's.

Each CU contains 4 SIMD, each SIMD contains in itself 16 threads/elements whatever you want to call them.

Therefore each CU contains 64 threads, with 16 in each of the 4 SIMDS (64 / 4 = 16). Which would also explain the number of threads, as ((64 threads / per CU, 12 CU) = (64 * 12, 768 threads)).

They themselves have the exact same line of maths

as i said....

sorry then :)

The kayle, we all like h/w, but not at this level and especially with this kind of information.

I suggest you skip trying to count by hand the number of computing cycles that next console may or may not have, mixing up yourself and maybe others on the way.
Try counting good games instead

i know can be boring for someone but we can do this (i mean talk about hw rumors) just every 5 years or more :(

ill end to buy both console (ps4 and x720/whatever) as always i did...so really im not that kind of "fanboy"

Let them present it first, and then, after the beans are spilled on the table, I guarantee to you its capacity will be analyzed to the smallest detail.
Not worth trying to decipher rumors etc on a technical level so close to reveal. Even if microsoft keeps its mouth shut during 21st presentation, it will only take a few days for actual technical data to reach the proper points of interest.

If you want my opinion, no matter how much of a tech beast it will be, even if it is just mid pc equivelant, it will be good enough for the first nextgen period, good enough to push also pc general level of games/ports.
So it will be worth your money anyways for the first year or two, the only question pending the exact technology being its longevity.
If its not a good powerhouse, good luck to those that plan to stick with it for a full generation period as their main game machine..

I just want to see that all these bad anti-consumer rumors, where really just shitty rumors and I'm ok.

If I will use it for one year or for five years, well, thats up to microsoft tech department and the choices they made.

TEN DAYS

oh come on... He's been desperately trying to prove the hardware somehow has more power than the leaked specs suggest. Fanboy wishful thinking incarnate.

it really won't matter once we see games.

on paper 360 was going to be behind ps3... In reality it was never a huge gap.

lets just keep our powder dry until the 21st.

ah who am I kidding?

new console smell!

LETS HYPE THIS MUTHAFUCKA.

Different architectures.

I fucking know. That's not what I was saying.

The point is that the paper specs only say so much. We need to see what the hardware does in the hands of devs.

In the AAA game development you can bet that the programmers and engineers can get pretty close to those paper spec performance. Or else you don't really belong there and go make some spreadsheet programs :)

naaa not a fanboy...sorry

I dont think they have to care. Because the architecture is so similar, devs can improve the PS4 version without much effort. Similar to how a PC game looks better on a better rig.

But the question is; will they? This is not the SEGA and Nintendo era where you have noticeable difference on how games look and performed on Nintendo and SEGA system back in the early 1990's.
I think that developers, or maybe publishers, are content with build for the lowest common denominator.

When their is already a superior PC version out their I dont think it will require them to do much work to make the PS4 version look better. For example current gen games are made for the lowwest common denominator, however the PC version still looks better. Of course this wont matter for most people as the difference will be negligible. I expect later on it the gen though the difference will be a bit more easy to tell, especially when their are beffier PC out then, as well as 3rd parties having more experience with both hardware. And of course Sony first party will show of the difference a lot, especially later on in the gen.

that's why you shouldn't write off the pc!

anyways, new consoles with roughly 4x to 6x the power of the old ones, is only good for the entire game hoopla.

I'm really feeling this HYPE now!

btw, do you guys know where I can find the famous leaked specs for Durango?

fuck the specs! even more, fuck the rumored specs.
worst case scenario?
next xbox like 2x wiiU's taped together => Microsoft moneyhats the entire industry for a couple of years for great exclusives.

still enough to get you going if you are a gamer, isn't it?

Everything mentioned in vgleaks is standard GCN, and I swear you are really grasping at straws and the worst part is you have 0 idea what your talking about so your just talking bullshit all the time and you don't even realise.

I will not let this bullshit continue, each SIMD block, 4 SIMD has 64 threads, this is the same as everything else (16 threads / SIMD unit) 64 threads a SIMD Vector (all 4 of them).

I lurk in these threads and it's fun read....even trolling by AOC, Sawyer and friends (well most of the time).
But you seem very agresive against anyone making anything positive about Durango...even if people are joking or are just wrong (so what? thats the point of hyping).
You take this high position of some expert...so my question is: what is your technical background, references, former or current relevant projects? And no, reading OpenCL documentation and B3D forum doesnt count, I am talking about real resume worthy stuff.

You don't have to do it in the real world to actually have a clue, but it is clear some people on here don't, but if you must know I'm a third year comp sci student. I take offence when I tell him multiple time what the obvious correct answer is (and it is obvious) and he doesn't accept it.

Im not aggressive to anyone saying anything positive, say positives everything you want, I am aggressive to him when he keeps saying the same shit when he is proven wrong multiple times and he doesn't get the message.

The OpenCL documentation is so clear on how Compute unit works.
In 2 pages of that document it should clear up everthing.

As noted, the AMD Radeon™ HD 79XX devices also have a scalar unit, and the
instruction stream contains both scalar and vector instructions. On each cycle, it
selects a scalar instruction and a vector instruction (as well as a memory
operation and a branch operation, if available); it issues one to the scalar unit,
the other to the vector unit; this takes four cycles to issue over the four vector
cores (the same four cycles over which the 16 units execute 64 work-items).

There are also some diagrams that should clear up the memory hierarchy on GCN

Yes yes PS4 am total Xbox teh fail. #yolo #ballin #JunkyardDog

All jokes aside the specs can't kill my vibe. If they are just as rumored I'm good with that, I'm just hyped to see some fucking games! 10 days, hot damn let's get this show on the road!

Didn't Bungie buy their own freedom from MS? That probably explains it.
Microsoft let Bungie go as goodwill for basically creating the Xbox brand with Halo. MS still have a minority stake in them I think.

Gosh aren't Microsoft evil for letting a company they own become third party so that they can develop and release games on more platforms. They're so anti consumer and anti gaming I just can't stand it :'(((

ok thanks for the answer. But you know you can just let people be wrong....its just a hype thread...

It is not about who is right and who is wrong (He is definitely right), but more about his role and behaviour in a thread that should be all about hype and unrealistic expectations.

MS biggest problem is how they hate having two FPS games or two racing etc.

Which is why we never got a new Perfect Dark because Halo is enough.
Between Halo, Gears, Black Tusk's new shooter IP, and Respawn's new shooter, they don't seem to care about that anymore.

Little wishful thinking from me.

What would make me buy Xbox day one:
- AW2
- good RTS (or at lest DOTA/LoL kind of stuff)
- Bad Company 3 (BF3 burned me so much that it was the last game I preordered)
- Wing Commander/Tie-fighter type of space sim

- if they allow XBMC app on the store. Actually in this case I would buy two consoles
- actual support for Europe

Is there any chance Project Gotham is brought under the "Forza" brand?

Forza Motorsport... Forza Horizon... Forza Metropolis.

Really hope not. They need to keep these two separate, naming every racer Forza would be dumb and cause confusion as well amongst consumers. I'd rather have every year switch between a PGR title and Forza title.

i wonder how many will be 60fps, or at least the MP portion.. because c'mon, we all know it's that fluid/responsive controls that makes CoD the king..

People keep going back because " the controls are so much better".

At least Respanws will be 60fps (or i hope), seeing as they created the "secret formula"

I have a feeling the new Xbox is going to be an amazing console.

Not for everyone obviously, but for me as a gamer, and what I want/look for, I think its going to be amazing.
