How the hell does mii plaza work? You can send people items for their miis? I'm so confused about the friend system on 3ds despite having one for a year.

The Mii Plaza shows all streetpassed Miis as well as the ones you've met playing online. You can further customize your Mii if you play Find Mii and Find Mii 2, which is an RPG-like game where you get all sorts of hats after defeating certain enemies. You can play Find Mii with either streetpassed Miis or dog and cat warriors that you hire using Play Coins (that you earn by walking around with your 3DS). The other thing you can do is collect puzzle pieces for cute little 3D dioramas on Puzzle Swap. To earn pieces you can either buy them or have a streetpassed Mii give you one.

Possibly the one "new" (but not really) thing I'll love is screenshot taking. Swapnote will turn into my little miiverse as I spam friends about what animals I've said hi to.

Good idea guys! If NeoGAF had signatures this little card would be a perfect fit!

I'm guessing if you add someone who hasn't added you first is why I get the option to name the people I'm adding? I've added like 14 people but only about 6 were automatically named and shown up after I entered the code.

Anyway, I sent those who I did manage to successfully register a drawing of Shizue I did based on this pic.

I didn't realize there was an ink limit til I got to the legs and noticed the flashing pink/red color in between the pen and eraser. That sucks. So I guess you guys get a Shizue with no feet. =l

Well actually it wouldn't be so bad if we could get direct-feed shots of them, but sigs on GAF would be... No thank you.

Dangit I wish my camera wasn't busted or I'd be using a pic of mine too. Would someone be nice enough to grab one of mine? Name is JJ

You can't take screenshots of 3ds games. Or did they add that feature?

Yup, but it's a game based thing, not a system wide one like in a Vita or WiiU.
AC New Leaf, Nintendogs + cats, KHDDD, Pilotwings and some other games support screenshot taking mid game.

I agree. Having no signatures cluttering up the threads is one of the reasons I really love GAF. That stuff belongs in profiles if you're really interested. lol.

There will be scrap books and diaries/journals made based on these. I can see it lol.

Day 1: I arrived at town. I became the mayor. There's a cute dog girl who is going to be my...assistant.

Day 2: Planted a tree. Talked to some animal people.

Day 5264626: What is my life?!

Yup. In preparation for ACNL I've already signed in to http://threeds.me/twitter for my upcoming twitter spam about the happenings in my town. Mwahahaha.

Can you finally change your skin tone in this game? The Aika village video seems to show it's possible.
It doesn't seem like it, unfortunately. You can get a tan though, which is what is shown in the video. And that threeds.me thing seems awesome, I'm sure I'll get a lot of use out of it, heheheh.

By standing in the sun you can tan to various shades of darkness. Also, your Mii mask will change your skin tone to match the Miis skin.

So what's the online in this game going to be like compared to Wild World?

Can someone summarise the shit they're most excited for in this game?

Late post but-

Online is going to be kind of similar to Wild World except meeting up has been made a lot easier. And there's more to do with your friends than before. You can also visit random towns via dreams, I think? Something like that.

As for what I'm excited for... it's practically everything related to what you can do to your town and your house. It gives you incentive to keep raising up Bells to customize and personalize your place outside of just your room. Saving up Bells in previous ACs only to be used to buy furniture, coupled with limited room space (so you can't even make use of everything you buy), was truly a downside for me and gave me less reason to continue to play the game once the interior of my house was... how I wanted it to be.

On top of the multiplayer additions and so forth, it feels like the true successor to Wild World that I have been waiting for.

Gaf, I'm trying to convince my girlfriend to get herself a 3DS with AC so that she can play with me. I haven't played any since Wild World. Give me some tips on how to get her to come to the dark side.

I haven't played an Animal Crossing game since the Gamecube version.

Should I get this? I'm starting to feel like I should.

did you like it?

it definetly seems like the most substantial upgrade since GC (besides Wild World introducing Wifi + portability wich are a no brainer)

If "made about five different towns and sometimes played them back to back within a day" is "liking it"... then yes. Yes, I did like it.

This will be my first Animal Crossing game.

It's a massive upgrade over the Gamecube version. I mean, it feels like a massive upgrade over Wild World, and Wild World was already a pretty decent upgrade from the Gamecube.

City Folk doesn't exist

City Folk doesn't exist

I didn't play Wild World for... some reason. I think I just got a bad impression of its changes from reading about it and decided to not play it.

No, City Folk does not exist.

It's even a running joke on the Wikia. New Leaf's tag is {{AC3}}, not {{AC4}}.

I didnt really love Wild World tbh

It was just kinda fugly. Something about it turned me off.

I still played a shit ton of it, mind you.

The two knocks I'd give Wild World are:

- No real holidays. They replaced Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and more with bullshit things like "La-Di-Day" and "Yay Day". I shit you not, I didn't make those up. They're actually in the game. Thankfully, all of the real holidays and even more are back in New Leaf.

- Removal of the acre system and change to the "rolling world" style. Unfortunately, I don't see this changing anytime soon. Both City Folk and New Leaf still use this style.

Also yeah, looking back at it now, the game is a little bit ugly. But hey, New Leaf looks great.

That is amazing.

The rolling world thing was probably the main reason I didn't pick up Wild World. It was just so jarring after playing the original.

For some reason it doesn't bother me as much in the New Leaf media.

City Folk doesn't exist

No, City Folk does not exist.
What the heck have I been playing for the past 2 hours then? Was it... all a dream?

It is pretty much the same thing as Wild World as far as I can tell, but I haven't played an Animal Crossing in like 5 years so I don't mind. I'll only be playing it until New Leaf hits anyway, so whatever. As far as Wild World, I liked it more than the Gamecube game in a lot of ways, but less so in others. I put more time in to WW overall though.

Edit: Yeah the rolling world and the holidays are what bugged me most. Although the rolling was only annoying in WW, so far in CF it's more tolerable because of the resolution, and it looks to be the same way with NL.

This will be the first AC I play in multiplayer, so that'll be cool.

Yeah, that top screen was useless most of the time except for BALLOONS.

Balloons can be hit with your net in NL if they're close enough to the ground/an edge and
only drop really ugly balloon furniture so it's alright to ignore it after filling your catalogue
