I really hope they don't screw it up (fingers crossed).

The original Shadow Warrior will always be one of my favorite fps games, along with Duke Nukem 3D and Blood.

The original is on GOG for six bucks, for those interested.

Are you... being serious?
I suppose the argument is that the pace of the game may get turned down due to having to accommodate for analogue sticks, and considering that fast pace is the hallmark of the nineties PC shooter, that's not great. Without the speed, you might as well be playing Call of Duty: Oriental Stereotype Edition. Of course, that's not guaranteed to happen (Quake 3 was on consoles too, y'know), but these days, consoles are probably the lead platform and hence gamepad is the lead control method, which doesn't really work for fast-paced games without some ludicrous auto-aim.

For comparison, the Rise of the Triad reboot (another nineties shooter) is not planned for consoles at all, and has definitely retained its ludicrous pace.

I don't remember this game having that fast of a game pace. Maybe I remember it wrong?

Or maybe I just played it slowly.

Diablo 3 ain't an FPS and i'm pretty positive their new MMO will be on consoles too

Yes, but 90% of non-FPS PC games won't be coming to consoles next gen. I would be surprised if even 20% of those would.

Also, with Blizzard I'm not sure if ttheir new MMO will come to their consoles, but I'm pretty positive their next RTS won;t.

Day 1
Nobody messes with lo wang.

Loved the original back in the day.
Hopefully they keep some of the humor intact and don't try to make it super serious.

i was excited and then i saw the trailer. It looks good but i saw nothing of Shadow Warrior in there. It looks like they are playing it straight.

They're going to fuck this up guys. This and blood were two of my favorite games growing up and I can't see them creating Lo Wang with his racist potty mouth in this game. It's going to be ripped to shreds and I will cry.

Has anyone played anything by this studio? How are they?

Hard Reset is very oldschool and fun. Bassicaly 90s shooter with modern graphics. It's the reason why I think they might be a great fit for Shadow Warrior, at least gameplay-wise. No idea if they will be able to pull the humorous side of it as well.

Interesting... the screenshots look great (really colorful!), but we'll see how the game turns out. Hard Reset was fun though, so hopefully this will be too.

It's also nice to see life from 3D Realms... :)

As for the racist/sexist stuff, we'll see. I would be fine if they got rid of that stuff, but it will be interesting to see if they keep some of it or not -- it was controversial when the first game came out, and that kind of stuff certainly still would be, for sure. Would it actually help your game to get that kind of press, or not?

As for the original game, I have it, but never got far; I found it to be a really, REALLY hard game, and gave up before managing to get through the first level. I know I'm not great at FPSes, but that one... argh.

It's not really a '90s shooter, it's linear, has a modern checkpoint system, etc. It is somewhat more oldschool than most modern shooters, but some of the major design elements are modern.

Flying Wild Hog's only game was Hard Reset which was... OK, I suppose. It promoted itself as "a return to the oldschool" and, re-introduction of secret areas and non-regenerating health aside, was nothing of the sort. Still, OK, in a poor-modern-man's Painkiller Black Edition sort of way (which makes sense, considering they were mainly ex-People Can Fly devs).

It felt very Blood2/Sin/Shogo'ish to me. Aside from the checkpoint system (altough I think some of those also had it). I didn't feel it played much like modern FPSes. No regen, no iron sights and it was much faster than standard modern fare.
