You know since the handheld versions seem to work out better, I was thinking the other day that maybe Nintendo should just skip over the Wii U and get to work on an Animal Crossing for their eventual next handheld. Have it out within a year of launch
instead of making us wait almost 2.5 years
Handheld Animal Crossing is best Animal Crossing. A Wii U version will disappoint, I know it :(

I feel this way towards most simulation based games now. Games like Rune Factory, Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing will always be better to me if they're on a handheld.

I just don't feel like they work as well on consoles.

I've made a total of one thread before. (an Animal Crossing one no less) I think you might be mistaking me with someone else? :P Unless some joke is flying over my head!

EDIT: I see, haha.

I'm really looking forward to your OT. : )

Oh, and will the spreadsheet thingy be a part of it?

I think the main reason I didn't like Animal Crossing on my Wii is that it was such a faff to get into and play. On a handheld it's boom, you're playing right away.

But with the Wii, I'd have to switch cables, change channel, get past the warning screen, realign my sensor bar which had fallen down, find the AC disc, load the channel, go through more screens... ARGH.

Lol read post wrong XD, thought it was SalsaShark XD, but I expect a lot of entertainment from the OT =P, just leave out some of the weirdness from this thread if possible lol

Edit: For games that needs/can be played daily handhelds are always the way to go.

Not just that, it was like the biggest recycle of the GC one. The DS one was inferior to the GC as well, but it at least added some new stuff like online multiplayer and was portable at that.

Maybe one day we'll get an Animal Crossing that lets us use our Virtual Consoles in-game similar to the NES games in the GC one.

I'm getting so freaking hyped for this game again. I had to stop myself from reading about it after the Japanese release because I felt like I was ruining too much and I didn't do any more research for a long time. But now that the English release is so close, I've become insatiable again.

Also, the UK commercial is way better than the US one.

Lol yeah, I still need a good title. As funny as some of the lewd titles could be... think it's for the better if we leave that out.

I did like "We Don't Take Kindly to City Folk Around Here" or something like that.

I feel like we need a joke about the Wii game, rough and quick version: "We ain't no City Folk" =P
Edit: Lol in agreement on making fun of City Folk =D, that okay with everyone? Or did someone felt it was the best version of Animal Crossing =P?

I was wondering why City Folk was so disappointing to everyone. Upon first seeing years ago I thought it just looked like a new, better version of Animal Crossing. I'm guessing it just didn't add enough new features to everyone's liking?

Also I imagine we'll never get NES games to play like we did in the first one since Nintendo charges for those games in the eShop. :(.

City Folk was the best Animal Crossing.
I did not like WW

I like City Folk but I won't defend it because it is indeed the laziest game Nintendo has ever made. At least in recent memory.

You also didn't play the Gamecube one so it was more of a fresh experience. For someone who played that one previously, yeah. I mean, if you've never played much of the series before getting into this one then it would be a fresh experience.
When you spend a lot of time in your town and have to redo everything for little difference, it gets kinda sour.

Personally, City Folk just didn't stick with me. I felt like I was just playing a console port of Wild World with a little city tacked on and holidays returning. It was just so lazy. It's not what I wanted after waiting 3 years for another Animal Crossing.

In fact, they even made it worse in some ways. The god awful grass deterioration and the things the city did. You know how in GC/WW/NL the event visitors Dr Shrunk, Crazy Redd, and Katrina come to your town on random days? The city just has them 24/7. I thought that was really lame. What's the fun then?

EDIT: Actually I just realized that in NL Dr. Shrunk is pretty accessible in the city. So I take that one back I guess.

Well, Shrunk and Katrina (eventually) are permanent in New Leaf too. I agree with pretty much everything else though.

The removal of the villager portraits upset me the most though. I loved that feature so much, and I'm very pleased that it's back in New Leaf.

The city itself was a huge letdown. It did indeed feel like they'd just shoved certain events out of the way and it only led to making the town itself feel more dead.

oh yeah I wasn't a big fan of the city in CF either, it was kind of weak

Hmmm... now I wonder how I would feel about ACCF if I've played the GC game beforehand. It's bad enough CF already felt rehashy coming from just WW... yeesh!

Yeah I just remembered about Shrunk being fairly permanent. I think they have an excuse there since you can have 2 full pages of emotions this time. If he was random... can you even imagine how long that would take?

I think Redd is the most important to have as a visitor though, and he is. So I'm happy.

I forgot about the portraits. Stuff like that I just don't get. Why would they get rid of that? Sigh...

I don't know, laziness I guess?

It may sound lame, but the portraits really make me feel like I've forged a relationship with my neighbours. Plus, it gives the game more of friendship sim feel, which I really dig.

One of my museum showcases is gonna be a shrine to all my favorite villagers.

Haven't read too into the item managements but do they still have the item restriction from WW or did the system change after the game (didn't go for City Folks for obvious reasons =p)? I remember having to place items in letters and letting the game save them at the postal service in WW XD

I'm only jumping on this hype train now, what with this being my first Nintendo console and all. But I think, I'm probably wrong, Animal crossing is way better suited for handhelds than a stationary device no?

In all fairness, it started off as a console game (N64 at that). But yeah I agree that its better suited as a handheld game, but I would not mind a Wii U game.

It is for sure.

I wouldn't balk at a Wii U version, but given the style of gameplay, it's perfect for quick anywhere/anytime playing.

Who knows, maybe they've learned their lesson and the Wii U version won't be lazy. New Leaf seems to have turned out fantastic and the sales just in Japan have definitely rewarded them for it.

It looks great, it honestly is the first time I've felt like I'll be getting a 'true' sequel to Animal Crossing on GC. I was going to wait to get a 3DS for better colors to come out, but I may just get it sooner due to how great this game looks.
I'll get myself a pop tart.

Very true, didn't ACCF sold very disappointingly compared to ACWW? I really hope they don't make the same mistake with the Wii U game.

I'm also happy proper holidays are back, a mix of old and new, and the old returning ones have been vastly changed this time.

Pop Tart or Pink/White.

I would die for a Pink/White 3DS, it's so damn fresh. My Blue one is alright, but the Pink is outrageous!

Most of them are so much better now. Only one of them (the Harvest Festival) sounds kinda tedious.

Well, I know that NL has sold about 4 million already just from Japan and South Korea. I don't have official numbers for City Folk on hand but that certain not so reliable charting site pegs Japanese sales for CF at like a quarter of that.

I was semi joking too... you're alright Sats! The Night Owl thing sounds fucking amazing. I have shitty sleep patterns and playing the game from 11 onwards always felt boring. No longer! Best Animal Crossing for sure.
