My skin is way too sensitive, so the thought of a tattoo just makes me shiver.

Is there not a central list of New Leaf-owning 3DS users' friend codes anywhere in the thread? If not, I'd be happy to put together a form or something on Google docs for people to submit friend codes into a read-only spreadsheet/database. Hype levels for this game are going through the roof for me!!

There are two kinds of patterns: regular and pro. Regular patterns are just on QR code, pro patterns (where it's a full outfit, not just a texture) require four.
Once you've scanned something in, they're in your patterns section. So, you have to replace one of the patterns you already have. You can then - for free - put the pattern onto something like a wall or floor (pro patterns included), display them as an item in your room, or wear them.
So far, I haven't figured out a way to keep the patterns in the game beyond your pattern pallet. So, if you want to add or make new pattens, you have to get rid of old ones. Of course, with the QR codes, you can always get them back.

Whenever I think of the reason why people kept doing this, the only thing that comes in my mind is lurkers who want to join the CrossingGAF party but cannot due to no GAF membership, so they try and crash it instead. Heh.
YES! Back on the DS I got chastised from some games just for adjusting the time 1 minute or so.

Why not set up a user-read-only spreadsheet, and have a separate form set up to submit GAF username, 3DS username, and 3DS friendcode, and have the form write to said spreadsheet? Would prevent having lurkers/malicious users from being able to do delete or alter the spreadsheet itself. If that doesn't work, no worries, I'm sure the regular posters in here have their own system set up.
