Oh lawd, E3 needs to come so people can see what this game actually looks like now. I can't wait to see the reactions.

Also, out of the announced games of Infamous, Killzone and Knack, I think people will find Infamous to be the most impressive visually. Knack will also shock people with how great it looks. Its artstyle just works really, really well. Or maybe I just another cartoony adventure game. I don't know, I'm biased.

The CG was really in another league in that trailer. I hope we see more in less than 2 weeks.

If it's PS4 only I'm thinking that most if not all the cutscenes will be in-engine. Mainly because they've stated that the team wants to embrace this design philosophy in upcoming games due to improvements in technology, and also because they have already scrapped a great deal of CG already due to character revisions.

Although being a big fan of HD CG I hope I'm wrong on this.

GG is GG so I guess people already have expectations for the game on a technical level, but I personally don't care as much for it.

Please be excited!

Last year Nomura said the game is about 7:3 ratio of real time to CG.

Can you be more specific? Change in art style? Completely different characters? Improved graphics?

Besides, CG is a waste of disc space.

But it's so pretty... I always love watching the endings of Final Fantasy games because the CG sequences are pretty breathtaking.

All I need regarding Versus is some form of acknowledgement along with a date and anything else is icing on the cake. Since that 2011 trailer, I swear all we've gotten are "We're working on it, okay?!" but recently they've said things like "Please be excited" or "The date for the reveal is set" so it feels like it's coming for sure.

It's likely got more to do with how the game plays or something. What we saw in 2011 looked pretty rough and all the menus looked pasted on.

I have to disagree. SE's Visual Works studio is one of the best there is.

I agree, but at the same time I don't want too many of those especially if they are all style no substance like FFXIII's were.

I want some Oscar worthy stuff if they are going to show CGI.

It wasn't CGI. That was realtime PS4 graphics.

/megaton

I don't think that Luminous demo was running on PS4. They just showed the GTX 680 demo again and that was it. They didn't release any specifics regarding the PS4 version either which is strange.

And more recently we got news that Square Enix Japan will make cutbacks to the engine team and focus more on smartphones etc.

All very disappointing revelations.

It didn't help that XIII's cast looked like a bunch of porcelain dolls.

True, but I'd rather they use that space for added interactive content.

Aren't PS4 discs 50GB in capacity? They could do a lot with that.

LR is at their booth and on their own live stream stuff (and playable on the show floor) - it won't be at any conferences.

Really? That's good news then. I thought Hashimoto would come out and try to implement some foreplay with FFX HD and Lightning Returns before going in with Versus.

I really enjoyed the time of day lighting for the CG trailer as he pulls up in the back of the car. Really calming.

Yeah I usually don't care that much for CG as good looking prerendered scenes are easy to do while good in-game graphics are harder and it's generally more impressive to play a good-looking game than stare at good-looking cutscenes, but the new CG scenes were really impressive despite that.

Maybe because of how realistic/modern it is? I don't care for FF XIV's CG in comparison.

The CG here is just ridonculous.

they have such an impressive CG team that I don't even give a fuck. Going to be some awesome ass sequences.

One of the major pros of Luminous engine is, how easily the tech team can convert CG to real time without compromising the quality.

That's what they did with Agni, visual works created the CG, then it was made real time using luminous engine.

Does Verendus know things?

It's a new IP for definite. I don't want to say more than that because we're only a few months away and it'll be much more impressive to have a full reveal. It'd be unfair to GG, and this is going to be a really huge event for them. Plus I know very little, and it's no point putting it out there. It' be more detrimental than anything else. I can tell you it's not like Killzone.

I can spill the following comfortably though since I think this developer is a bit of a joke, and I think people are beginning to suspect this anyway. Versus XIII will have another unveiling later this year regarding development for the next generation. It won't have the "Versus XIII" part in the title. It will definitely release in 2014. You can have my account deleted if this information turns out to be inaccurate. News is fresh on this and I'm really confident about it. FF15 and FF16 are underway, both next generation projects. There's a chance FF15, in particular, may be an exclusive release. Kind of. And with that, I'm off to sleep.

Yup. That's it. It's almost ominous in a manner.

Edit: Yeah. Verendus was wrong about GG. I don't think he ever explained why.
