Has it been said/rumored anywhere that Dead Rising 3 is going to be an exclusive though? I remember reading the original synopsis a couple years ago (you were going to play as a car mechanic in a sea-side city?) but unless something else has come up I just assumed it was eventually cancelled.

Don't expect Dead Rising 3 on Wii U.

cboat says that is snatched by another company (not MS) so its either Sony or Nintendo's. Well thats what I got from his post:

xclusiv snathcup by aocompny

I took the ao to mean another but who knows. Its exclusive for sure and in the works.

The tears on GAF would be glorious.

After Ubisoft made Rayman multi I don't expect them to do such a thing.

If nintendo was smart they wouldn't spend money on Ubi's biggest bomba

Their "biggest bomba" was the previous game which is 10 years old. They would be spending money on a brand new game which has a hardcore cult-following and immense nostalgia and acclaim attached to it since BG&E is still highly regarded as one of the most criminally overlooked titles. That as an exclusive would give them serious gamer cred (after all the betrayalton meltdowns of course).

no, but making it a goal for the game to actually be released would probably help in its development. ubisoft probably wouldn't toss ancel from project to project as long as he was actually working on a greenlit bge2.

ancel's a fan of nintendo, i think, but i feel like bge2's going to be ps4/one.

It's worth remembering that there was a rumor not too long ago that Ancel might leave UBI once Rayman Legends has been released.

"Unfounded rumours!" Ubisoft France spokesperson Pascal Lecointe told Eurogamer France on our behalf. "Michel is currently working on Rayman Legends, a unique game that will be released on Wii U, Xbox 360 and PS3.

"Michel Ancel and Ubisoft therefore categorically deny these rumours."

A Ubisoft UK spokesperson refused to deny the suggestion that Ancel was leaving, simply telling Eurogamer that the company "would not comment on speculation and rumours".

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...-that-rayman-creator-michel-ancel-is-quitting

Note that they never specifially deny that he'll leave after RL (which what the original rumor stated). Just that he's working on it right now.

if he goes, then so goes the hopes of ever seeing another bge game. we'll probably see more original titles at least, but at another company or in a reduced way, like yuji naka at prope, or warren spector at junction point.

on the other hand, i couldn't really blame him. he's been kinda jerked around for about ten years trying to make that game happen.

To be perfectly honest, I don't see there being much realistic prospect for any notable third-party surprises, let alone any third-party exclusive.

People aren't actually expecting such, are they?

I don't have high hopes but I'd given up all hope of a Bayonetta sequel once and well...

Acquisition of a third party exclusive I think would be like Bayonetta 2, not ZombiU, or the Rayman Legends situation. Ubisoft did and does call all the shots on both. Bayonetta 2 on the other hand was a dead game SEGA wanted nothing to do with.

If there's any other collaboration surprises, I think they'll be like that - Nintendo as a publisher securing distribution and funding rights, as opposed to pulling the arm of third parties to make and publish thier own exclusives.

I give Sonic the exception as the franchise is already well suited to somewhat Nintendo exclusivity.

Right. Nothing comes to mind right at this moment, but a mid tier Japanese franchise left for dead would fit the bill of something Nintendo would be interested in and could secure without going crazy.

I'll take N64 remakes and resurrections barring legal shenanigans, starting with Winback .

... TimeSplitters 4? :Y

In the swamp of negativity around the very idea of Wii U development from those sorts of studios, I think Crytek UK - as opposed to Crytek - were always one of the few who seemed pretty open to it. Also have been very open about CryEngine 3 running perfectly well. And it's dead project, so who knows. Maybe Nintendo have been eying a western equivalent to the Bayo 2 deal.

It's not happening, of course. That cannot be emphasized enough. No siree.

There's also the whole Free-Radical coming from old-Rare thing. Not sure if that'd be something working for or against it though.

Also yeah obviously it isn't, but it'd be hilarious/great to see anyway if there really isn't any other way for it to happen. TimeSplitters 4 wouldn't have to go through EA, would it? Was under the impression outside Crysis Crytek were able to publish their games/simulation software?

Speaking of Ubisoft, what are the chances of RedSteel3 happening?

... TimeSplitters 4? :Y

That would be an example, and an awesome one. If only :(.

Yeah exactly. Same for the West too, even if we haven't seen any examples yet. Sony and Microsoft will be playing moneyhat to secure exclusives, and I think it's obvious third parties are trending towards Xbone and PS4 far over the Wii U. It's like the PS3 and 360 generation. Third parties will still fund and publish their own games, but Microsoft/Sony will be throwing money at them to waver licensing fees or whatever, arranging special promotions, etc, for timed or permanent exclusivity.

I think it would be very unusual to see that kind of behaviour on the Wii U because the vibe I'm getting is that third parties are shitty with hardware performance, and shitty with software sales. But that doesn't rule out Nintendo swooping in to pick up games that have otherwise been abandoned and publishing them off their own back.

I don't want to imply I actually know of any shit like that happening, mind you. Bayonetta 2 could be a once off. But it does seem like a more believable strategy for Nintendo to employ in securing exclusives. Because they sure as hell aren't going to come from publishers.

This would actually make Beyond Good & Evil 2 a great fit, and I agree with Ani that the series would probably do pretty decently on a Nintendo platform, especially if it had a Nintendo published stamp on it. But I think if BG&E2 ever actually happens Ubi will retain control and get it on as many platforms as possible.

So any chance of GTA V being shown or is it totally out of the question as Rockstar really really hates Nintendo? (If they announce GTA V for PS4/Xbone)

Not a chance in hell. Unless Nintendo showed up at their door to write a big check, which isn't happening.

I would be happiest with 0 3rd pary games this Nintendo Direct, but that's just me.

I just need a few key titles and I could easily skip the other two consoles which would end up saving me a ton of money. I did not think I was going to be more anxious/hyped for Nintendo's announcements compared to what else is going to be shown at E3.

Now to take off work Monday or Tuesday?

0:00-5:00 - a recap of the wii u, and where it's going. announcements for new hardware and bundles (like charging stations) will be made here.
5:00-6:00 - brief sizzle reel of games already covered in the most recent nintendo direct, as well as flashes of upcoming wii u games to be shown in the rest of the direct.
6:00-10:00 - super mario platformer shown off. first a trailer, then a brief statement about the game, followed by a release date and bundle information.
11:00-14:00 - the wind waker wii u trailer, plus explanation of the changes for the upcoming game and comparisons to the gamecube version.
14:00-19:00 - mario kart showcase. trailer, release date, and bundle.
19:00-23:00 - wii u party shown off, with features discussed.
23:00-28:00 - xenoblade ii fully revealed. has some sort of online multiplayer. aiming more for the monster hunter crowd.
28:00-35:00 - retro studio's game fully revealed. release date within the fiscal year
34:00-37:00 - yarn yoshi fully shown off. releasing within the fiscal year.
37:00-41:00 - smash bros. details revealed. 'coming soon' (sometime later in 2014)
41:00-45:00 - fire emblem x smt trailer and details revealed. like smash bros, this one is 'coming soon.'
45:00-49:00 - bayonetta 2 fully revealed. coming sometime within the fiscal year.
49:00-54:00 - other sega games shown and promoted. reveal of whatever the last sonic game is
55:00-57:00 - sizzle reel of upcoming third-party games.
57:00-59:00 - 'before you go' special third-party exclusive reveal
59:00-60:00 - short recap and thank you for watching

That would be almost perfect. Just hoping for a good list of upcoming third-party games (which is almost the only thing I won't get my hopes up too much).

a random one, but who owns the Turok IP?
I mean it's a shooter brand that Nintendo fans are familiar with and I have to imagine could be gotten on the cheap.

And at the end of the direct they say : "If you want to try out a litle piece of the games we shown here, the demos are on the E shop. "

It would be the ultimate fuck you to game journalists.
I don't have a Wii u and I don't know who does...but if they announce this before e3. I have 400 bucks on my GameStop card. Just saying.

I always guessed that the reason none of the platform makers ever do this is because show-floor demos are pretty quickly thrown together and kind of hokey in places. Like, perfectly functional for journos on a show-floor, but not really the sort of representation of your game you want to make available for the mass market to play in the confines of their homes.
