From a Official Nintendo Magazine interview with Intelligent Systems about the differences between Advance Wars and Fire Emblem via Siliconera, we got this little tidbit:

Even though Days of Ruin was good I want to see the return of the original cast..
Intelligent Systems has been doing a lot lately, but I really need a new Advance Wars.

The thought if Retro working on a new IP is great and all but we need a new Metroid. Other M left a bad taste in my mouth and my paler needs cleansing.

10 days!

Metroid is in the chest again. Don't expect to see Samus again until 2014/15 :( That 4-5 years break will give Nintnedo to bring it back in the spotlight again , whether it is 3DS or Wii U.

Awwww, Ok. :(

Last year was the 10th anniversary of Prime, too. Would have been a perfect launch title.

It would be smart of them to announce and show new Metroid game since there hasn't been a 2D Metroid Since Zero Mission (2006 right?). If Nintendo really wants the hardcore to buy the consoles that is...

Who knows I could be utterly wrong. But I have a feeling after Other M's disappointing reception , haven't played it yet btw in my backlog, and Reggie's sentiments about it in 2010 it won't be back this year.

2010 was when it realesed, and conveniently when Retro would probably start concepting/developing their Wii U game. After that reception, it makes sense for them thinking to let Samus have a break.

Fils-Aime said the game is "getting close to half a million" copies sold in the U.S. That's no flop, but it's also not a blockbuster. I pushed him on the portrayal of Samus since that's the loudest criticism I've seen of the game. The graphics were very good, the gameplay was a throwback to earlier Metroid games. But Samus, some people just couldn't stand how she was portrayed and complained about it here in Kotaku's comments as well as in reviews in other outlets.

"First off, [I have] nothing but the greatest respect for the development team," Fils-Aime said. "Mr. Sakamoto [co-creator of Metoid] did a wonderful job. His partnership with us in promoting the game was stellar. Team Ninja [is] absolutely fabulous. I'm not going to sit here and criticize a style of the game, but have I read the same feedback that said, broadly, that the portrayal of Samus felt different than how the player in the past had internalized the character? I've heard and read the same feedback. Do I think it's warranted or not? I'm not quite sure yet... I don't yet believe that that is the driving factor to the performance of the game."

Metroid is not a system seller by any means.
Actually, it should be saved till 2014-15 like Volotaire said. The game is niche enough already. The last thing it needs are abysmal sales from a niche console (right now).

At lease wait till the fansbase is big enough to justify a game like Metroid.

Everything you're saying makes sense, I suppose. They have to save something for later in the console's life.

But damnit, I want a Metroid game. A really, really good one.

Definitely play it, dude. The game isn't completely terrible. It just doesn't hold a candle to the truly great Metroid games, which is a shame.

The biggest two knocks I have against it are some "WTF were they thinking?!" design choices and an absolutely dreadful story. No pun.

I remember that Reggie interview and I was so bummed out at the time knowing that it could be a while before we see another (great) Metroid game.

Thankfully E3 is just days away...

I've been off the Nintendo Wagon for about 2 years now but there's something coming...you can feel it. A storm is brewing. Really excited for this direct aaahhh all of the hype

Is there any chance that we'll see Dragon Quest 7 3DS? You know, if Nintendo decides to publish it because Square is worthless.

The Nintendo 3DS is undoubtedly the best canvas for a new Metroid game right now. It would be quite opportune for Sakamoto and his traditional Metroid team to deliver a pertinent chapter in the classic Metroid saga.

I really hope this Nintendo Direct is the opposite of what I am expecting. We shall see those cards soon enough.

it's been 7 years since we had a E3 where Nintendo revealed both a new mario and smash bros in the same one, we may know the majority of the games being shown, but those new ones are going to be great.

Lets see, they will probably open up with what we has already been confirmed so either Smash Bros, Mario Kart or Mario U. My money is on Smash Bros being shown first much like how Skyward Sword opened up 2010. Most likely we will then either hand over to Platinum Games for Bayonetta 2 and Wonderful 101 or maybe Sega to show off Lost World, then maybe show a trailer for Pikmin 3, we will most likely get a bit more information on X and Shin Megami Tensai Cross Fire Emblem right before or right after the half way point which will show us Mario Kart U and a release date. As for the ending what will start is the trailer for Mario U and ending the direct will be the title from Retro Studios.

Yet I've heard Pokemon is getting a 90 MINUTE Direct

[Intro]
All of the hype (All of the hype)

Extra bright, I want y'all to see this
Turn up the hype in here baby
You know what I need
Want you to see everything
Want you to see all of the hype

(All of the hype)

[Bridge]
Fast cars, shooting stars
(All of the hype, all of the hype)
Until it's E3 everywhere we are
(All of the hype)

Hey we could be getting mini directs for other games, who knows at this point.

I do think the Pokemon length is ridiculous though.

So is this the official Nintendo E3 Thread?
I would be glad to make one since it's not so far away anymore...

I will be making a thread where all the E3 Info, trailers, interviews, demos, etc by Nintendo will be. Like a Recap Thread of sort.
