Game of Thrones: Spoiler reaction to Season 3 - Episode NINE!!!!

Not open for further replies.
A Gaf book reader spoiled it for me 2 weeks ago, so I felt almost nothing since I knew it was coming in every line.

The entire episode felt flat for me as a result. I couldn't feel the ups and downs that everyone else felt here because my mind already knew what was coming.

People just can't stop spoiling things, even by accident.

a bunch of cunts who do this. sorry jax. you are a good guy in the non-book threads trying to maintain that barrier.

Oh wow, that was this week?!? As a book reader I figured it was coming up soon, but I didn't know it was last night. Haha, goddamn, such a crazy turn of events for the series. Have the episode recorded so I'll have to watch it tonight.

I'm glad somebody made a thread. I don't watch the show, but I've been waiting to read the reactions to the Red Wedding for a long time.

Mmmm the salty tears go so well with my bread. A bit of wine as well.

Then you'd enjoy this Twitter:

Aw, I thought this was going to be a topic with links to Red Wedding reaction videos :(

As did I. I probably have watched a few dozen of them.

Tried to take one of my own but my buddy's place was too dark to film and he just cursed a lot.

Almost better are some of the non-book reader weekly reviewers that are melting down. Swearing that they are done with the series. Hope it is not true, but you never know.

Funny you say that, just in the last 10 minutes or so I've seen two reviews on YouTube that ended with the reviewer saying that they aren't going to keep watching the show. That they don't have enough interest in the remaining characters. Also seeing this on Facebook from people I know looking back through my timeline from last night.

Damn shame if anyone actually follows up on that. Maybe I'm biased because I've read through the series and know what happens after this, but there are still so many interesting characters left. Dropping the series right now is crazy talk in my opinion.

But I dunno, Robb was never the most interesting character in the series to me so I guess it could affect other people more if they liked him a lot.

Yeah, I was looking up random reviews for the episode earlier on YouTube and a few that I watched ended with the reviewer saying that they aren't going to keep watching the show. That they don't have enough interest in the remaining characters.

They're not going anywhere. They just haven't arrived at the acceptance stage yet.

haha thanks for making a thread, i didn't realize this had happened on the show yet. gonna spend a while today enjoying people's reactions.

Hope so. Would be lame to see this affect S3 ratings.

I mean GoT isn't a perfect show or anything, and I enjoy the books a bit more, but it hit its stride this season I think. Been enjoying it a lot.

The problem (at least for me) was they cast Richard Madden, who somehow makes Robb looks charismatic. OTOH, I'm pretty disappointed with the casting of Jon Snow. If they had switched roles, I probably wouldn't care so much that Robb dies.

But I'm still cheering for Gendry & Arya.

I think they'll all, at the very least, watch next week's finale. Perhaps a few of them will drop the show if they really hate that ep or whatever, but as of now you can chalk it up to a bunch of emotional people who haven't had a chance to calm themselves down. :P

Yeah, I like Richard Madden. And I definitely like the character of Robb in the show and in the books, but man, there's still so much good stuff left. Like I can't even imagine dropping the books after this happened in Storm of Swords. There was still so many people and things that I wanted to find out about.

As for Jon's casting, I'm sort of indifferent. He's fine I suppose, but there are others that are just so spot on and perfect for their roles that they overshadow him a bit for me.

Yeah, you're probably right. I remember many reactions to Ned's death being similarly dramatic with the same sort of "I'm done with this shit" proclamations.

There are a bunch of similar comments on twitter and stuff too. Enough that it kind of makes me worried that the ratings actually will drop between now and the next episode or next season

Man fuck this show. :(
Haven't read the books but I could sorta see that end coming from a mile away, the tension was there all throughout the episode. But fuck man, that was brutal as SHIT. The stomach stabbing had me turning in my seat uuggghhh

Why do the Starks get all the shit :(

My reaction: "AAAAAHHHHH!!! AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!! AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!"

Brings me one step closer to my prediction that every single character who appears in Episode 1 will be dead long before the series ends.

GRRM hates the Starks. I was waiting to see GAFs reaction to this. I still cringe thinking about it when I read the book the first time.

I remember some jackass posted this scene in a YouTube comment. As soon as saw worried Catelyn, I knew it was time.

Great episode, great acting.

Honestly I think the show watchers got off much easier than the book readers, the build up to it in the book was fucking nerve wracking, a sense of dread that just keeps building and building page after page. The show can't recreate that since it's not telling the story from Cat's perspective so it goes for the shock and awe blitz route.

Non-readers were gloating the other day about how the TV show will catch up to the books and so the spoilers will become the spoilees. Part of me would find it hilarious if this killed the ratings and the show got cancelled so that would never happen.

...and then GRRM dies, leaving us with no ending at all :(

Made my stomach turn. I'm kinda glad the girl I know who recently miscarried doesn't watch this show.

I was pretty shocked, it's strange, when they shut the door, and started playing the strange cello piece, I noticed I wasn't sure what the mood of the scene was, it was foreboding, but I wasn't sure in a sinister, or excited way. Amazing.

This season has been so insanely slow paced, even worse than last season, but to have it all explode in such a short time was pretty amazing.

Well now I hate him too. :(

Seriously, it was horrible to watch. And then having her scratching her wounds... made me sick.

Yeah, the image I formed in my head of the RW was pretty grusome, but actually seeing it unfold on the show I had to turn it. My wife's reading the books right now so it's for the best. I don't want to spoil it for her.

I'll just leave these TeamStannis* application forms here by the door as I leave

*some burnings may apply

well (aside from the greyjoys of course) he has the most recognizable and badass theme in the series.

also i really like stannis and his mate davos a lot in this tv series. moreso than any other possible king/hand combination

Scene delivered

I was afraid it wouldn't turn out well on TV, but it was as good as the book, minus the better buildup.

Davis is one if my favourite characters, he's great. Hope the show keeps him as interesting as the books have.

I can only imagine more shock and speechless horror from the book readers if the RW didn't happen, everyone walked out fine and dandy and the series basically says 'nope, we are not going to follow the books anymore.'

Yeah that was never going to happen after they said countless times that the RW was THE scene that made them do a TV series out of the books in the first place.

Shocking doesn't even begin to describe it. Just the sheer brutality of that scene.

I didn't think they could ever top Ned Stark's beheading. I was wrong.

i don't really care if they deviate from the books drastically when they hit books 4 and 5. i didn't like them and i think the showrunners could think of better stuff (while consulting grrm of course)

although so far the books have been superior, that would be the time when the show can either plummet or become better.

I've enjoyed all five books, but I don't mind if they deviate simply because the two are separate to me. I'm a massive ASOIF fan, but I've never been offended when a movie or show deviates from the source material. As long as it's good then I'm cool.

they're alright but the problem i have with them is that the first 3 move the plot forward so well and then all of a sudden it's just moving at a snails pace when you read books 4 and 5.

it will scare away a lot of tv viewers too unless they think of some creative solutions to it.

wow that was shocking ..... I was like Hell no he wouldn't it HELL NO.... but still i can't keep watching this show like this ....... all my fav character is dead da fuk man

edit: ah.. some good thing will happen in the future, right?

Can the book readers not contain themselves? Stop opening hinting at spoilers in this thread too. Good lord people.

Even book reader speculation, stop it yall.

There is already a thread for no book spoilers.

Not that it's ok to be a jerk and just drop spoilers like crazy, but this series has been around since the mid 90s. If you go looking in non safe havens (not that there really, truly are any) you're gonna get spoiled.

I read and enjoy the reactions in the "no book spoilers" thread, but I don't post there with regard to specific story content, as my opinions are colored from future events as a reader.

That said, there were incidences in that "no book" thread throughout the season where people were clearly being disingenuous about not having read the books, and openly spoiling shit. It happens semi regularly, and is infuriating. But really, you can't discipline those people for a couple different reasons unless it is blatant.

The safest thing to do is to simply read the books. And stay out of any GoT related threads, including "safe" ones.

IMO they should've deviated considerably day one, straight up axing characters and plotlines. With less stuff to worry about and spend time on we could have a smaller but better developed cast of characters, and more money for more impactful scenes. We probably would have a better show in our hands. The way the

Speaking on the show itself, it was a huge douchemove to viewers though to develop Robb as much as they did. There is a reason he wasn't a major character in the books...as everybody knows by now. :P
