TitanFall (EA/Respawn, PC/XB1/360, Spring 2014, Game Informer Leak, All Info In OP)

I could have sworn that I was dreaming of this yesterday. I always forget what I dream of...
Anyway, I hope this will be the last new FPS for MS. Titanfall sounds really good after all but MS will need to prove that it still has that diversity of exclusives from its original Xbox days.

Well luckily we don't have long to go in order to find out. Just a few more days.

I just cannot believe this to be true...I hate it when devs try to justify moneyhatting with tech speak. Isn't the PS4 supposed to make porting from PC and XB1 easier?

Just say we're partnering with Microsoft (or something along those lines).

I need screenshots to be wowed by "teh infinite power of the cloud"

The fact that they are outsourcing a 360 version to another dev but not outsourcing a PS3 version makes it all the more transparent.

None of the stuff they mentioned is using the infinite power of the cloud because it's PR BS. Although dedicated servers are friggin awesome.
Please help me understand why peeps are saying using the cloud in the way they mentioned might be PR BS?

It doesn't exactly scream 'next-gen', though.

their design more than makes up for the lack of whatever-wiz-bang-shadertastic-nonsense people are hyping this month.

I think with good art direction Source is definitely able to compete with other engines.

Finally!!! Some positive Xbone news. Definitely, a good thing. So we have 2/15 exclusives now. I mean I'm still on the fence about getting a Xbone but the more positive news comes out for Xbone is the more pressure it puts on Sony to impress.

Is that you, Lucy Bradshaw?

Hahaha! Clever! I actually laughed.

I always knew this was going to be some kind of online focused shooter and I think Destiny and Planetside 2 will cover all my needs on the PS4 in that regard. No big loss for me.

they couldn't make the game for the current Gen consoles so they went next Gen, but another Dev team is making a 360 version. so the game was possible on current generation hardware or they are going to strip functionality from the 360 version?

interesting there is no ps3 version.

Except the fact that this is not Battlefield, a game that WILL sell. This is a game that needs as much exposure as possible.
Unlike their other Partners program games, EA will probably actually throw some marketing dollars at it, that's if Microsoft isn't already footing that bill. It will undoubtedly be plastered everywhere - they want this to be big.

Sounds very "meh" to me, but that's how I felt about all of IW's games in the first place, so it's not like I should have expected anything more.

Game sounds interesting but I don't play many multiplayer FPS games anymore.

Lol @ the cloud outrage though, that shit is delicious. And we'll hear it for the rest of the generation so...good times!

The RAM discussion quoted in the OP makes little sense to my tiny brain. I feel like that Jackie Chan meme.

Anyway, the heat just turned up for Monday morning. I wonder if there will be tattoos.....

EA wants Origin users and gamers in their ecosystem. Releasing a massive, online shooter on Steam completely undermines what they are trying to do with Origin. Unless things have changed behind the scenes there is no way this game is coming to Steam.

Respawn owns TitanFall, they control the IP, so it's possible it'll be on Steam. We have no idea what is in the contract between EA and Respawn, so it's all speculation at this point. But I'd say Respawn doesn't care about Origin, they care about money and they want as much people as possible to play their game.

Yeah...Publisher contracts don't really work like that. IT will be Origin, 99% chance.

As many have said, this is not one of the 15 first/second party MS exclusives.

This isn't a Microsoft Published game so it doesn't count as one of the 15. Also, we won't be seeing all 15 at E3, sounds like some will be at GamesCon also.

What's with all the fucking "-fall" names?

Killzone Shadowfall
Titanfall
DeusEx: The Fall
...

It's to make it easy on us if they are rubbish. They'll be called:-

Killzone Shadowfail
Titanfail
DeusEx: The Fail

Ugh it's not part of 15 exclusives,it should be 15 publish+/develop by MS+some 3rd (console) exclusives

This thread is going by too fast to keep up with every post. Can someone explain to me why people are so skeptical about the cloud stuff? Other than the precedent of lies surrounding SimCity, of course.

I agree with you, but unfortunately a lot of people here don't even know or understand what cloud computing is and just like to go around xbox topics spamming "lol cloud hur hur"

A lot of people know what is it and how it works .
Just don't be angry when people call devs out on there BS .

The game sounds a lot more interesting than I imagined. Looks like getting creative freedom (and away from the shackles of CoD) allowed Respawn to really go all out. I can't wait to see the trailer.

Poor guy.

Left trigger, right trigger. Left trigger, right trigger....Repeat for 5-6 hours.

The multiplayer could be interesting though.

Just to point out, this is the same EA who said SimCity utilised the power of the cloud when in fact it was just an excuse to try and justify their use of always online. The game definitely sounds intriguing but I wouldn't trust "the power of the cloud" as anything more than a front for always online until they actually come out and show some figures and tech demos backing it up.

This ain't one of the 15 exclusives though, it's not first or second party.

- Going for a District 9 or Blade Runner vibe.

Ok, that makes it 95% day 1 even though we still don't know much.

I'm sceptical about it making the Xbone only 40x more powerfulSeems to me it should be infintytiems more powerful becausecloud

Having the proper hardware (more RAM) in the console is a lot more settling than relying on servers located hundreds of miles away.

I think people just go into immediate overreaction when they see 'cloud'.

What's described sounds like rather ordinary authoritative dedicated servers for a MP game - i.e. where the physics and game simulation runs server side. They're not very common these days in a world of P2P network games but they're also nothing new. They just have a new tag attached, here running 'on the cloud'.

I suppose maybe that's partially why people react like this...because often old ideas are spun just because they're running in a cloud context.
