TitanFall (EA/Respawn, PC/XB1/360, Spring 2014, Game Informer Leak, All Info In OP)

Uncertain but I think he's talking about software in terms of OS capabilities and obviously the cloud support. After all, MS is a software company.

True but we talk games here so I'm in the line that he meant games.

I see if it's the type of point as you noted though.

Interesting. And just think, the quiet existence of a PC version should create the possibility for release of (unlabeled) gameplay videos that are graphically on par or above anything available for PS4...

With this whole cloud computing malarkey... isn't this just moving Xbox live from a P2P model to a server-client model, but given the server access to a cluster of computers, allowing it to do more computationally intensive stuff?

Yes they have a server like an MMO and have the server calculate the NPC movements and some of the larger physics effects that will be displayed to everyone.

I do enjoy my work - I just enjoy listening to most people talk about cloud - especially the ones that have no clue but want to sound smart. The "uneducated" masses that MS is trying to appeal to.

Some of this can definitely work, but not in the way many here believe. But trying to tell a fanboy that is like trying to explain the nuances of carpentry to a shop clerk. It just doesn't work. Most amusing thread here was the "cloud" one a week or so ago. Sent that to my networking friends, and we all had a good laugh.

It all sounds great. I'll pick up the PC version, then pick up the PS4 version of TitanFall 2 or 3, since it sounds like they'll consider going multiplat down the road.

If it was impossible without the cloud, why is there a 360 version? Im confused, obviously the cloud is the same thing MMOs have done for years...ridiculous

I imagine it will be something along the lines Nvidia PhisX, where with some architecture you get extra bells and whistles, but with non-supporting architecture you get the same product without the added features.

Thanks for insight

Downplay as much as you want but having the huge infrastructure in place, making it available to devs from day one and writing software to make it easy to implement for Every game, is what makes this a little bit more than pr bullshit

It was the same with ps3. The very people championing Sony at the end of this gen were quick to say the ps3 would 'fail'.

that digital foundry article suddenly seems a bit silly huh.

Would MS want that though? Using footage that looks better than the real thing is only going to hurt them later. The real issue is 60fps, when YouTube is 30fps, most people who see the trailer will only see it at 30.

Mario's been bouncing off clouds for decades now. MS just getting with the times.

If by meltdowns, you mean death by apathy. Okay. I doubt MS is that stupid. Especially Respawn. If Halo 2 couldn't break through, no way this game does. It'll be DoA.

I agree, but I would bet that they will try it....maybe not with Titan but it will happen

Wow, I missed this thread. The most interesting aspect of this for me is that the 3rd party exclusives deals being made may not restrict the PC releases. I really hope this is a norm with both Sony and MS.

You've gotta be kidding me. So this is where we're headed, huh?

It seems like a new strategy is emerging going into next gen. Publishers' business models are so broken and they think DRM will save them - so they have a strategy of getting gamers to accept online DRM gladly: weigh down games with tasks too difficult for the hardware itself and then offload things like physics and AI calculations to cloud servers. Then they can tell consumers how staying connected to the internet at all time enables all these amazing features. Its SimCity writ large.

Convince me I'm overreacting here.

You're overreacting, it's a multiplayer game with AI enemies on the map with you, that has always been tough without dedicated servers, that's what the cloud is.

Actually that's probably exactly it... But the masses dont know what a server is or all that means but thanks to online hosting services they now know what the word cloud means.

its as simple as one can make it for most people to easily identify it without too much confusion

So while GAF is offended by the use, its not intended for us... But we take it personally anyway. :lol

Not surprised. Was expected months ago. They must not have high expectations for this game considering they are giving porting (to 360) duties to someone else. (We all saw how that worked for Kojima with Zone of Enders). I guess Microsoft must have paid quite a bit for this. Otherwise I don't see how they couldn't get the same experience on the PS4, as well as double the opportunity for sales.

That said, it is just another FPS. Also it is coming out on PC.

Haha, that post sounds so salty. Game sounds awesome, combined with a couple of other title could even be a system seller for me although I never got into the ADHD, killstreak stuff that was CoD. Nice score for MS.

Whew! I won't need an Xbox One to play this. I'd rather upgrade my PC than buy Mircosofts watered-down version of next gen.

it would be brilliant if 99% of next gen releases also get a day one pc release. no need for new consoles then. save the pennies.

This is one of the exclusive deals Microsoft made for the Xbox One. There is no way they actually believe that what they are doing cannot be done right away on the PS4. Microsoft payed them some money, got the exclusive, and now they are holding up their end by praising the Xbox One.

Man you Sony PS4 crusaders need to read before jumping, I know it's fashionable now to doubt everything Xbox One related and cast doubt on any thing positive. They did not say the game was not possible on PS4, they said their team is too small for project like this to do game for both systems. They decided to went with Xbox One because Microsoft have cloud server service. It's also possible on other system but would require more resource.

Bungie originally was going to be Xbox first but I am sure they also got "encouragement" by Sony to make Destiny multiplat day one. I know only evil despicable Microsoft would paid money to get exclusive. Bungie just make exclusive content for PS4 out of the goodness of their heart because you know Sony is the good guy.

Anyway, game look awesome and if they guarantee dedicated server for all multiplayers games, I might be willing to ignore DRM and paying for Live.

I got WOOD!

huge mechwarrior fan... and if they can incorporate a COD/Mechwarrior game into one... drool

The mechs need to be bigger though. This seems more akin to the mech suits in Starhawk which got mixed in with foot soldiers and other vehicles.

I would love a nice Mechwarrior type game with huge mechs. And foot capture can happen, I forget what the PC game was where you could do that, it was awesome.

Sounds interesting, excited to see it Monday! So many negative people in here. Remember when gamers liked games?

Self employed and early here in Arizona so lots of time to post when GAF is downplaying good Xbox news ..thx for asking. ;)

To be fair, I don't think many are downplaying this but critiquing the words and PR about the cloud. It's bogus in that regard. I'm looking forward to this on PC, maybe.

Pending it's not some stupid Windows 8 exclusive.

I feel kind of indifferent, to be honest. I guess it sounds neat, but it does not seem like something that I absolutely must play. Good deal for those who care, though.

Welp, I guess it was actually moneyhatted.

All theses moneyhatting terms being thrown around. You have to spend money to get 3rd party exclusives for your console.

Also, if all the Xbox One's multiplayer games use dedicated servers in my opinion Live would be worth it.
