It seems Sony has already made up their minds on the used games bit. We will probably hear how they've left it to publishers to implement it so that they get less PR backlash. Disappointing though, but I guess this was expected.

GiantBomb end their video by predicting that Sony's policy will basically be a copy and paste of what MS is doing.

Unless Sony reps have been straight-up lying and an internet connection IS required, there's no way their policy can be a straight copy and paste.

I wish journalists would actually think before saying shit.

The fact it isn't controlled by Sony on their servers will mean it's better.

If you can play games offline, we're safe. They've already done the brave thing, if they're going against publishers this much, what else is there to do?

Where are you getting this from?
They've said it a few times, mostly in the Edge cover story. The installs are seamless, just a brief initial install then it finishes while you play, but all data is loaded to the HDD.

all this drm non sense has killed my hype for e3 and ps4..... and i don't even buy used games!! WTFF?

Same here. I think the used game blocks are terrible for the industry which is why I'm against it. Thankfully PS4 won't have online checks or mandatory, always on camera.

but Verendus said MGSV is coming to PS4!!! u are full of it

Verendus surely says a lot of things :P

people are saying that because he's been talking about finishing his new mgsv trailer on twitter yet didn't show it at the konami conference, which is the perfect place unless he has somewhere with more exposure like a platform conference

unless you're suggesting he's going to be in the nintendo direct

My comment was about Kojima himself, he might not be in either of the conferences.
During E3 2006 Sony showed the first 'real' MGS4 trailer in their conference, it was their biggest third party exclusive and Kojima wasn't there.
What if MGSV at this point is just a PS3/360 game, they don't have next gen announcements to make and a short version of the trailer is showcased in a montage during both conferences and that's it? :P
Then they'll release a long version by themselves on tuesday.

Are you sure you're not thinking of their download system? That sounds exactly like how PS4's background downloading system is going to work.

I don't remember anything talking about mandatory installs anywhere for the PS4.

See I still don't get this line of thinking, Why? Why would they do it? Considering the markets they appeal to, Sony would have to understand the importance of used games. Do the journo's have any other evidence other than "Well Microsoft are, so Sony must be too, for some reason"

Yeah, it's the same system as downloads just from the disk. It's timed out to install over the first hour. XBO is doing it too.

6x blu ray drives are slow as fuck for all the data they have to load for next gen games. Epic and several other devs have commented on how excited they are to not have to rely on disk read speeds next gen.

ah i get you :)

that could happen yeah.

you know, I was thinking that when Shuhei made the Joke about DRM (death ray manta) coming to Vita, maybe he was trying to break the bad news in a lighthearted way....:( now that we have Microsofts policy I wonder how long its going to be before we get Sonys.

In this case, they need to take microsofts lead and get it out there before E3.

no point in speculating. When it's all revealed for us to analyze that's when the criticism shall begin.

The sad thing is that this E3 should be the most hyped thing ever, yet look at what's going on. Fear instead of excitement because publishers are being greedy instead of looking at what they're doing.

Anyway, my brother traded in Dead Island: Riptide today. It helped him pay off GTAV. Used games aren't so bad.

I'm noticing a pattern with these "insiders" :p

not all "insiders" are cut from the same cloth. People seem pretty clear that CBOAT is legit, Fastmortimer has gotten some info right, but i dont know anything about Verendus, or this other guy.

E3 will reveal many things, and some wont be posting here anymore I dont think.

I never bought a used game or rent or whatever. But I know my nephews who rely on that stuff.I am a huge playstation fan. But if they are pulling XB crap , I just won't be able to support that.

I love PS, but it can't be one way street.

What he wrote actually makes sense. If the engine isn't ready for next gen, then how can MGV be released for PS4?

Verendus might be bullshitting

I won't pretend to know anything about engines and software development but then why is Kojima running MGSV on PC's and then admitting the current gen game "probably" won't look like that?

Said who? How about the 40gb games that didn't need an installation?
For anything's sake stop spreading rumours and fake info!

Mark Cerny must not know anything about the PS4 hardware then.

Mark Cerny said:
However, PlayGo "is two separate linked systems," Cerny said. The other is to do with the Blu-ray drive -- to help with the fact that it is, essentially, a bit slow for next-gen games.

"So, what we do as the game accesses the Blu-ray disc, is we take any data that was accessed and we put it on the hard drive. And if then if there is idle time, we go ahead and copy the remaining data to the hard drive. And what that means is after an hour or two, the game is on the hard drive, and you have access, you have dramatically quicker loading... And you have the ability to do some truly high-speed streaming."

To further help the Blu-ray along, the system also has a unit to support zlib decompression -- so developers can confidently compress all of their game data and know the system will decode it on the fly. "As a minimum, our vision is that our games are zlib compressed on media," said Cerny.

I was so excited this morning when I saw the TitanFall scan, then as I check gaf throughout the day I started getting a headache! All this DRM nonsense and Xbox downgrade defense squadron really got me

I'm honestly a bit confused on the DRM thing which, I'm not sure will be covered at E3. Maybe you guys can clarify.

Correct this if wrong please:
MS posted that
According to the "How Game Licensing Works On Xbox One" document released today by Microsoft, the console has been designed so publishers "can enable you to trade in your games at participating retailers."

Sony states that they will not force DRM, that its up to the publishers.
Sony has (sort of) answered that question. The company said that they won’t mandate DRM on used games on the PlayStation 4 like Microsoft. However, game publishers will be free to implement their own system if they chose to. And considering how game publishers have complained about used games for years, it’s likely that most of them will implement some sort of system that limits second-hand sales of their games.

Doesn't this lend to the concept that, when it comes to used games, the to companies may be on the same footing in that its up to the publishers to allow a game to be sold used as well as how they are sold?

I'm hoping this is clarified by Sony at E3, because, as I said, I'm a bit confused.

Yes please, for the sake of less bullshit and fake news!
All those bits of probably fake news are ruining all the excitement for many people!

Absolutely, and not just any E3. THIS WAS SUPPOSE TO BE NEXT GEN UNVEILING HYPE.

Bro listen, you were hyping the Ninja Theory reveal a day before they unveiled a free 2 play iOS title. As far as I am concerned, you have zero credibility.

What credibility are you talking about? I'm just giving my opinions and guesses like everyone else and I'm not an insider.
I've never hyped the Ninja Theory reveal, I was just discussing with other people if the fact that Tameem was at Playstation meeting could mean something relatively to a E3 announcement and that's it.
Actually I happen to have a friend who work with them and I asked him about possible big announcements from them, he said that he likes his job :P
