Halo 3 Beta Video

I BXB like there's no tomorrow and i've never standby'd or superbounced. All the best players double melee and it's not hard to do. There's no way double melees are in the same realm as cheating.

If it wasn't INTENDED to be in the game, it's CHEATING! Get over it. You're taking ADVANTAGE of a FLAW in the code <-----that's cheating moran.

It's kinda like when a tag team wrestler distracts the referee while their partner smashes a chair over an opponents head. Is it outside the rules? Sure. But nobody can do anything about it, and hell, every tag team does it, so it's totally cool.

I use BXR. It is the perfect way to counter someone with host advantage. People say using BXR prevents you from finding out who is truly better at close combat but host advantage does the exact same thing.

Except wrestling is scripted and Halo 2 is not?

Possibly the dumbest thing I've read in a while. That's Bungie.net shit right there. Host advantage is a fact of the game. It's not intentional and the host is completely random. BXR is cheating, as deemed by Bungie because it was not to intended, you can't counter it in close combat and it gives an unfair advantage. You can easily kill a person with host at long range, medium range or close quarters. If you fight a BXR up close, you're dead immediately.

In Halo 3, if the system still applies, it would be B-RB-B and B-RB-R. This would make it incredibly easy for any player to use because you don't have to cross the front plane of the controller to execute it.

If someone from Bungie has already come out and said that it is cheating, it's quite obvious that they would try to fix it in Halo 3. Were they successful? We'll know in a few weeks. Are there other glitches that will be exploited and considered cheating? I don't even need to answer that question.

I agree with this 100%.

For gamers like myself who just want to play the game the way it was supposed to be made, these types of things make you want stop playing your favorite games. I don't have time nor do I care to scour internet forums for cheats and other ways to take advantage of the game. I want to learn the intended controls and let it come down to who's the more skilled player.

I had no idea about that bxb/etc.. exploit, but that does explain some things I assumed was lag.
I never knew about it until today. I mainly stopped playing Halo because I got tired of the children and being called a ****** every other game. The final straw was when I saw a variant of the game called "cops and robbers" turn into "cops and ******s" and instead of the robbers being red, they were forced into the bronze armor.... At the point I knew my days in Halo 2 were done.

I try not to make things personal here. Borys is a fun guy at times (such as over at the OT) but the relish he takes in trolling all things Microsoft borders on fanatical. Since I post a lot in Halo threads I see it a lot and it's worn thin. We get new information on Halo 3, and there is interesting discussion on it, but there's so much noise it's tough to fight through. Sometimes I'm more patient that others. This thread was drowned in lunacy pretty early on.

I made ONE post here on page 19, not earlier, edited it 15 minutes later yet I am labelled as the biggest troll in THIS particular thread.

*sigh*

I can quote dozen of people that posted trash countless times in THIS thread and got away with it.

Bad timing on my part I guess. And I usually even do not post in Halo 3 threads :/

I heard of bxb and stuff before but never knew what it was, im guessing it alows double melees to be used in the timespan of a single? either way I never needed it in halo 2.

Wow, that is awful. I am speechless. I like that in Gears you can disprefer someone so that you never play with him/her again. I hope a similar feature is in H3.

Borys has been trolling Microsoft over at EvilAvatar for years now. I was asked personally to ban the guy but never had the heart. Quite the character.

I also see Kelegacy has made the jump to NeoGAF, too.

Never seen it, but the plasma homing is nowhere near noob combo levels.

That's in all Xbox 360 games. I'm sure Halo 3 will have it and possibly even expand on it.

That's an Xbox Live feature, so yeah, it's in, and it's been made much easier to implement in Halo 3, along with other player filtering options such as muting.

Isn't that a Live feature to list a person across all games as a undesirable?

Yeah, the lesser members of the Halo community get on my nerves pretty quickly, but I've got to admit I've never witnessed them go that low. :-\ I have a feeling that I'll be using the 360's expanded user features a lot during Halo 3's release. However, now since there's the military rank that follows throughout your entire "Halo 3 career" I'll have zero interst in playing ranked games and it should be much easier to avoid these type people.

:lol

You guys can lay off Duderon, he isn't a cheater for pete's sake.

*Although my back is sore from carrying him and Luke through so many games* >.>

I was very pleased with the ability to avoid specific gamers with the 360. I've experienced nothing like that since I've had my 360 thankfully. I have pretty thick skin and stuff doesn't really bother me but with Halo2 it got to the point where it was every freaking game that I was encoutering BS. To be honest part of the problem was that I was new to online gaming and I didn't have a friends list of good folk to play with. Now I have a list full of great gamers and that makes a world of difference.

I'm not sure if that feature was availabe with the original Xbox. I could have easily muted all of my games but I'm such a team work whore that I simply dont like to play without communicating to my squad.

Karg said:

Yup.

I just hope that feature isn't abused. I can see people clicking "Avoid This Player" just because they lost to that person or that persons team. Hopefully it doesn't mess matchmaking up and force us to wait forever when looking for a game.

since you specifically called me out in your one post, i'd imagine its safe to assume i'd be one of those. try.

How anyone can justify BXB and BXR is beyond me. As others have pointed out, its a exploit. A exploit not everyone knows how to do or knows of. Halo 2 used to be fun before all the cheats/exploits came out. Hopefully Halo 3 doesn't have too many problems in that respect. It'd be nice to play someone and know that you lost because the other person was better, not because they knew how to exploit the game better.

moran. how ironic.

and no its not cheating you moron.

and if you guys think bxbs and bxrs are bad, ha, that **** was discovered year s ago. the new deal is called double shooting. rrxyyrrx.

its pretty easy to do with the S controller, but not as easy on the Xbox 360 controller.

some kids can even triple shot, and heck, ive heard rumors of quad shots which brings glitching to a whole new level.

Moran is an internet meme. Using it is the height of fashion. It's the new irony. Source:

Pressing bxb quickly will result in a double melee. Pressing BxR (Timing this is a bit harder) can result in an instant kill. You punch, hit x to skip the animation, then fire, which will (in most cases) put your reticule near his head or on it, and result in a really fast punch+shot to the face with a BR.

That'll kill you.

oh man thats hilarious.

anyway its not cheating you morans; bungie only says its cheating cause they were lazy to fix it. if its part of the game, and everyone who plays the game can do it, then i dont understand how the developer can call it cheating.

plus its not a flaw in the code, its a flaw in the gameplay mechanic that bungie simply never noticed. same goes for bizarres famous shift glitch which theyve chosen to keep in PGR3 even though it sparked debate in PGR2.

Serious and probably incredibly naive question here, how do people find and exploit cheats in console games? In PC games, you have easy access to all that code at your fingertips, but how do people do this in console games?

I'd take the time to explain it to you, but something tells me it would be a wasted effort. >:|

Suffice it to say that not every exploit is found during testing, and some exploits that are found aren't easy to fix without a serious ripple effect.

edit: ever-so-slightly beaten by Stinkles, damn your hide

Pressing buttons until you say "Oh shit, check this out 'xXMTXx Joe9563!'"

Edit: Added some "pro" to it.

This is what's cheating: Using something you know gives you an unfair advantage.

It is very plain.
Problem is you can argue your way out of that definition. So is that cheating or not? If Bungie says it's cheating it's cheating.

So, let's say I'm playing Rugby and I get into a scrum and the ref can't see me so I decide to jam my thumb up an opposing player's butt and give him the old fishhook. Is that considered cheating? I mean, it's not addressed in the rule book, and no way am I going to get caught while in the throws of the scrum, so, it's fair game, right? Butthole fishhooking is totally in, right guys?
