3DS Streetpass Experiences

I take my 3DS and 3DSxl to E3 every year and go crazy street passing. My systems die so quick will all the action. Too bad Near sucks. The PS Vita needs StreetPass sooooo bad, it's the only thing I use my 3DS's for. I wish Nintendo found a way to dump your collections on the Wii-U for some sort of RPG.
 
I just got a 3DS last week. Now I kinda wish I bought a 3DS earlier this year. The anime convention over here in Hawai'i is over and that would've been the best time to get some tags. I am getting a lot more random tags out there than I expected though which makes me very happy. I honestly didn't expect to like Streetpassing this much! It's just so much fun to see what other people are playing, seeing their Miis, and, in FE: Awakening, it's really fun to see how the other player played matchmaker with their army and fighting them.

Really? I just got back from there with 44 StreetPasses (which was a lot less than previous years, but ho-hum) and it let me get all the pink pieces for the Fire Emblem, Luigi's Mansion 2 and Animal Crossing puzzles as well a whole bunch of blues.

Think meant that when there's no event going on XD, wish there was something on near me lol
 
Yeah, I just meant Birmingham in general. All those thousands of commuters at New Street and shoppers at the Bullring and I rarely get passes.

I had no idea the 3DS had a step-counter til I saw this thread.

Does it count steps past the coin limit?

I read that there's a 10 coin limit (1,000 steps). Will it count past that without giving coins?

What do the coins do?

Yeah, it pretty much sucks. I'm often in Brum center, Leicester, Coventry, Northampton.. and I never get anything there. It's like people have given up on this, it used to be better with less 3DSes out there.

Yeah, you can go past the limit. Coins are used for various things, some games let you unlock stuff ingame with them, or you can use them in puzzle swap/find mii in the mii plaza.

Dang, congrats. I just hit 3000/1800 yesterday.

I know my area should have better meetups, but it just isn't happening, boo.
 
Love the feature but I am disappointed to hear that not many have had much success with it. I have gotten dozens here in Canada by bringing it to university and downtown during rush hours. Granted, the building I am in is an interactive technology program ...

Hoping to get a ridiculous amount when I go to the Zelda Symphony in a couple of weeks:)
 
So excited to complete my puzzles and Find Mii 2 thanks to E3 :D I managed to pick up Reggie's Mii with spot pass last year, I hope I can get Miyamoto.. :D

I'm looking forward to bringing my 3DS to E3 this year. I've brought it to Disneyland and didn't realize that an hour in I had already had 10 Miis visit. I was bummed at the amount of potential puzzle pieces I could have got.
 
Goddamnit, I got Iwata through Spotpass but I registered him in Mii Maker and now I can't use him in Puzzle Swap and Find Mii. D:
 
Thank you Iwata for that last pink piece from Dillon's Rolling Western. I swear, 99% of the people I passed at Fanime two weeks ago were missing the exact same piece...

Now all my puzzles are complete again... Boo.
 
I really only bother taking my 3DS with me to anime cons so I can get a ton of street passes. In the past year, I've gone to three conventions and I have 1300+ street passes (if I remember right) now. In the months between cons? I hardly get anything. Maybe 1 or 2 if I'm really lucky. Even in big cities I've found the yield for Street Passes to be a bit disappointing.

Looking forward to Otakon this year. I should be able to add another 500, hahahaha.

Yeah, Iwata dropped by my 3DS today also, but only one of my two. What's up with that? Does he just randomly do that some time?
 
Iwata's latest visit isn't on either of my 3DSes yet...

If you guys can help... I'm missing only two hats now and am having trouble figuring out which. Which hats are directly below the Ramen Hat and the Magic Hat on the list?

Still haven't even got the DRW puzzle board yet. Which is weird cos the game was supposed to come out in EU weeks ago.
 
Ugh, why did I have to get Iwata while I was stuck in the "Dark Room" in Find Mii.

Still awesome to see him. On a related note, I haven't gotten any new Nintendo Videos for the last few days, maybe we'll be getting a much needed overhaul announced at E3, or maybe nothing BUT E3 videos?

Is there any reason to actually keep special Miis around in the Streetpass Plaza after getting their puzzle piece and using them in Streetpass Quest once or is it just so you have a level 5 summon for Streetpass Quest 2?

Woooh, my first special Mii! :3 Yes, Iwata was also sent out in Europe.
Unfortunately, I had already finished all the puzzles last week (Animecon), so he was kind of pointless except for the accomplishment.
 
Wait, spotpass is an option in the Mii Plaza? I guess that must be why I pass so many people who only seem to ave the basic 7 puzzles.

Also so that E3 notification was a special Mii (totally didn't noticed the Mii plaza icon next to it)...I should open up the plaza too (4/10 slots, I usually wait a bit longer)

You do not need to start the later puzzles to get pieces from them but you need the data downloaded.

From what I understand, Iwata will visit you once per format. I guess you turn wifi off on system you format (to make sure Iwata does not visit before you have spotpass puzzles), format and set up Mii plaza (including the spotpass option so you get the new puzzles), close the plaza down, turn on wifi wait for spotpass download and Iwata visit, grab pink piece.
 
my Streetpass experience has been iffy thus far :/
my 3DS XL keeps reseting the date to 2011..

thus I ended up meeting Miyamoto in 2011 (and he gave me a Luigi Mansion piece)

oh well.

how long can the battery last in sleep mode with all the streetpasses?
 
Bought a 3DS at launch. Had over 300 tags, every hat, every puzzle piece, 300 play coins. 3DS XL comes out. I buy it, do a transfer. Sell my OG 3DS. Boot up my XL, everything's there but starting Mario Kart 7, old DS games, Camera, all brick the system. I send in to Nintendo for repair. LOSE ALL MY STREETPASS INFO. Cut myself and cry.

OMG this. I'd taken it to Universal the day before and got eight tags and was like ooooo cool. Didn't realize DLR would have a zillion more 3DS... Going to DL Paris in two weeks (yes, I'm crazy) hoping many EU people bring their 3DSs along!!

Oh my god. I'm so sorry :'(

I am so scared to send in my 3DS for what appears to be a ticking time bomb of a hinge in fear of losing my StreetPass stuff.

Makes me want to rage about Nintendo not having a proper account system some more.

and having said that. I just had Iwata come to my Mii Plaza lol.

gah... does the 3DS XL have some internal battery (think PC CMOS)? or is everything based on the one battery it has...

:/ the battery seems to dislodge if I don't close the cover gently

I am struggling to work this out. Iwata arrives a good three minutes before the Spot pass puzzles. Every time I load it up, I have to greet Iwata and pick a piece before I even have access to the later puzzles. Three formats down, no pink pieces yet...

You don't have to pick a piece from Iwata before the Spotpass puzzles come in, you can just leave him in your plaza until they finish downloading.
