I can only imagine how good the next final fantasy will look once they start working on one from the ground up without all their development issues this one had.

I'm not sure what to make of that. The footage looked quite amazing visually but in terms of gameplay it just doesn't look that good. Most of it was overly elaborate animation and missing the enemy, who didn't seem to do much at all either.

I agree. It was better before. And i liked seeing the character reactions to the combat in the small window on your heal meter.

Yeah. The previous style of gameplay seemed to be more closely reminiscent of Crisis Core (which I loved) and while this updated version still seems similar in concept, it seems way more complicated and overly dramatic. I'm just not feeling it.

I am still interested in the game, but I'm not quite as excited as I thought I was going to be.

Dunno how to say this without sounding really negative. But honestly it's more a matter of skepticism than negativity.

I simply don't see how the game can play like that. A lot of it looks very scripted. Like the part where a guy just appears behind noctis and a mini cutscene seems to take place in the middle of combat gameplay. As well as something like killing the big guy with his own sword.

There's also the matter of how the fuck they are deciding where to warp too when they're fighting on the building, all of a sudden he just seems to randomly warp to a completely different ledge than anything he targeting, or even looking at. How exactly is does that work?

Much of this honestly looks very conceptual to me. I really hope they are gonna have a proper explained walkthrough of some combat. Because a large part of the "gameplay" video just doesn't look like something that would actually work.

I think this looks pretty impressive considering they've been working on the next-gen upgrade for only a year.

This. I see some hiccups in the vid but they can cleaned up by next year. I just hope that we'll finally get a steadily amount of information over the upcoming year. It would take years just get some piece of info on this and when we did it was usually "everything is going smoothly" "we're running the clouds in real-time!" etc.

Put it in my veins!!!

Been waiting for this game for way too long. I've finished high school, college, went through something like 6 jobs, and have gotten married during the time between announcement and this latest re-announcement.
Damn. I've wasted so much time doing nothing.

This game might be my contender for best looking and all around most interesting game at E3 and FF did nothing for me this current gen.

Not just the character designs, but the world design as well.

It really seems to have a nice fusion of classic and modern aesthetics, and it looks amazing as a result.
They're really nailing the entire modern fantasy thing with this and I love it.

The game is still in production bro.

They seem to be approaching their "cutscene" like combat target with each new FF. Gameplay is still suspect though, but the graphics are top notch. My Xbox will be ready if this ever releases.

Also, dat Shimomura. Shame we didn't get a new track, though.

I don't want Final Fantasy: Boy Band Edition.

It looks great yes, but if it's an success the chances of ever seeing a real turn based Final Fantasy again will get even poorer.

If it would still be a spinoff i would be much more positive, but as a main title........

Have you not played Kingdom Hearts game?

I would happily suggest that they never touch medieval/sword and sorcery fantasy again thanks to western devs running dark-style of that genre into the ground and they have Dragon Quest for the silly/lighthearted variety

I hope the guy playing just didn't know how to use Noctis, because that teleporting while fighting thing looked very buggy. By buggy I mean that it didn't look like it was very useful since he kept missing attacks, and just plain teleporting in awkward places. Also the camera didn't seem to be able to keep up with his teleporting. Hope it gets fixed.

The blond guy's gameplay looks amazing. Seems like if you play as him you go into a 3rd person shooter, and he seems pretty cool. I can't wait for someone to make a gif of that shot he did to that soldier when he grabbed Noctis shoulder.

I can not wait to learn more about the world mythology. It looks like the most interesting final fantasy game ever made.

I also hope they are developing a sequel to type 0 for the ps vita.

-They are making games in DirectX 11 on PC and then porting them to the PS4 and Xbox One since they can handle that. They can consider any platform that support high end DirectX 11 level hardware functionality and horsepower. (Hey Square, that DX11 PC dev platform you mentioned earlier can run this! Just saying!)

Does this mean there is chance this will be released on PC and I won't have to buy a PS4?

That airship has long since left dock, sadly.

I think a lot of it will be up to the "command system elements" they mentioned, in a sense that they'll be party actions you'll trigger whenever you want opposed to being restricted to contextual QTEs (Prompto shooting looked like one of these, while the giant sword sequence looked more contextual). I do hope they'll be able to pull it off without it being clunky or heavily scripted.

Love how it looks. Gameplay looks sick but still in production.

btw after 7 years, is there an actual story synposis for the game? From what i saw from e3 trailer, gameplay trailer, and something about a girl, I'm guessing it's Romeo and Juliet with crystals :P

The Leviathan battle looks absolutely INSANE in terms of... Everything. God I need this. I think I'm gonna go on blackout so I don't know anything else about it, the Leviathan battle and what we've seen is enough.

I love how they found a mix between realistic and jrpg style for the character designs! Props to Roberto Ferrari who co-designed them! Would love to hear more about his involvement.
Man, I love this direction they are taking. Change is always good :)

I know you dislike FFVIII, Meccanical, but this game reminds me of FFVIII-Next Level. To me that's a damn good thing.
Loved the art direction with VIII, love the art direction here.

Also good to know that Nojima is (was?) a major influence on the story and not the hack crew from XIII.

I'm legitimately pumped for XV. When it was still under the Versus XIII monicker I was a bit tepid to it (dunno why in retrospect). They've definitely reworked the gameplay from that last trailer we saw with it back in, what, 2011? It looks like Noctis has a whole barrage of swords to cycle through and use; and he can throw said swords within the environment and then warp to that location. Pretty cool. Also, there were a couple quick shots that look to be of the other party members in the player's control.

The FF franchise has always changed things up in some form with each game. I've always admired that. Though we did have variations on the ATB system for a looooong time. I wish the fandom would realize this instead of complaining about everything. Oh well, can't please everybody.

Looks cool, and I'm glad they are showing more of the game. I can't really make out exactly how it plays, but my imagination is thinking up possibilities!

I can't really tell what's going on in this video, but maybe that's because I've never played KH. As long as the gameplay is precise I guess I'm okay with FF taking a stab at action.

Looks impressive. Not sure how it actually PLAYS since it seems like they ditched the KH-style menus in favor of I have no idea what, but it's clearly a very ambitious game.

Hopefully Square will release a straight-up walkthrough video explaining the combat system for those of us who can't test it out in person.

They've got the whole "cold war separating star-crossed lovers" thing going on here in this game. This had to be an intentional parallel just like how XIII used a lot of stuff from VII

If they can span that over a 30 hour game i dont even know.

Whats here looks amazing though. Final Fantasy seems to have potential to be great again.

Looks great.

Damn... looks so stylistic. I think it's good to see a departure from the formula once in awhile. Believe in Nomura!

I really like what I see from the video. So hyped now when I wasn't even interested before. You got my attention SE.

My only concern now, is for the story and characters because thinking back, I was really hyped for FF13 when the first trailers came out with Lighting.. and we all know how that turned out.

Last thing to note, I bet a lot of people are going to complain about the blond guy's outfit, Vann 2.0

Looks interesting. But I hope we can control the other party members. I am honestly tired of controlling just one person in the party like in XII and XIII.

Wonder how the story is going to be. If its going to be any good or just a steaming pile of shonen shit.

I agree that the fight looks too scripted and am wondering how Nomura is going to make it work.

Also, no release date. Or release year. With SE's recent track record this makes me quite worried.

And honestly, I just want to see more of Agni and her story.

Looks incredible as expected. Where are all those assholes who swore up and down this game didn't exist anymore!?!?

Wish this was a spinoff, dont want arpgs on my mainine FF looks awesome though. Also
Now i know why Noctis's cab ride took so long. Because he went to MS HQ before he backtracked back to Sony. Holy Fuck.

I think I know what's bothering me about the gameplay and why it's not exciting me. They've basically brought over everything KH style combat here, right down to the wacky speed with Noct just randomly teleporting left and right doing all sorts of nonsense aerial moves like he thinks he's in advent children. That works in KH since it's a cartoon, but it looks absolutely stupid here with the more photorealistic graphics. I was hoping the combat would be slower and more heavy. The swords also sound really dinky, like they're fighting with kitchen knives are something.

I still can't stand the character designs. They're so bland. Why do they all wear black? Are they part of a gang? The Leviathan and behemoth looked damn impressive though.
One side wears black, the other white. Attention to detail fail.
