It reminds me of an evolved version of Nier's combat.Well, it does look like there are cool-down periods, so it's still kinda turn based.

Kung Fu Grip said:I agree. It was better before. And i liked seeing the character reactions to the combat in the small window on your heal meter.
I think this looks pretty impressive considering they've been working on the next-gen upgrade for only a year.
Looks like all the enemies are just... standing there.
Damn. I've wasted so much time doing nothing.Put it in my veins!!!
Been waiting for this game for way too long. I've finished high school, college, went through something like 6 jobs, and have gotten married during the time between announcement and this latest re-announcement.
They're really nailing the entire modern fantasy thing with this and I love it.Not just the character designs, but the world design as well.
It really seems to have a nice fusion of classic and modern aesthetics, and it looks amazing as a result.
I'm not sure what to make of that. The footage looked quite amazing visually but in terms of gameplay it just doesn't look that good. Most of it was overly elaborate animation and missing the enemy, who didn't seem to do much at all either.
Dunno how to say this without sounding really negative. But honestly it's more a matter of skepticism than negativity.
I simply don't see how the game can play like that. A lot of it looks very scripted. Like the part where a guy just appears behind noctis and a mini cutscene seems to take place in the middle of combat gameplay. As well as something like killing the big guy with his own sword.
There's also the matter of how the fuck they are deciding where to warp too when they're fighting on the building, all of a sudden he just seems to randomly warp to a completely different ledge than anything he targeting, or even looking at. How exactly is does that work?
Much of this honestly looks very conceptual to me. I really hope they are gonna have a proper explained walkthrough of some combat. Because a large part of the "gameplay" video just doesn't look like something that would actually work.

They lost it when XIII came around. (Some will argue that was XII)
-They are making games in DirectX 11 on PC and then porting them to the PS4 and Xbox One since they can handle that. They can consider any platform that support high end DirectX 11 level hardware functionality and horsepower. (Hey Square, that DX11 PC dev platform you mentioned earlier can run this! Just saying!)
I don't want Final Fantasy: Boy Band Edition.
It looks great yes, but if it's an success the chances of ever seeing a real turn based Final Fantasy again will get even poorer.
If it would still be a spinoff i would be much more positive, but as a main title........
I think a lot of it will be up to the "command system elements" they mentioned, in a sense that they'll be party actions you'll trigger whenever you want opposed to being restricted to contextual QTEs (Prompto shooting looked like one of these, while the giant sword sequence looked more contextual). I do hope they'll be able to pull it off without it being clunky or heavily scripted.Dunno how to say this without sounding really negative. But honestly it's more a matter of skepticism than negativity.

Would have liked to see some exploration gameplay..

I know you dislike FFVIII, Meccanical, but this game reminds me of FFVIII-Next Level. To me that's a damn good thing.
Loved the art direction with VIII, love the art direction here.
Wouldn't bet on it.Does this mean there is chance this will be released on PC and I won't have to buy a PS4?
Yes.So will there still be towns and a world map?
Looks great.

One side wears black, the other white. Attention to detail fail.I still can't stand the character designs. They're so bland. Why do they all wear black? Are they part of a gang? The Leviathan and behemoth looked damn impressive though.
