Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

Super Smash Flash 2 has Goku and Naruto. They're pretty fun to play.

Game as a whole is fun for like, 20 minutes.

I played the first Super Smash Flash and all I can say is that it's seriously the worst game I have ever played. It makes Sonic 06 look perfectly playable by comparison.

I know it's a flash game but there's no excuses for how badly it controls. I'm not touching Smash Flash 2 with a ten foot pole!

Man, I don't care how generic it makes me sound; Pikachu is my favorite pokemon.

Look at that adorable little fucker.

Also, people who say this game looks just like Brawl graphically must be insane.

Haha, he's always been one of my favorites too. <3

The second one (so far, it's in demo stages still) is absolutely nothing like the first one. The controls are much more easier on the player and fluid. It's actually a really good effort.

Pac-Man, Mii and Little Mac? Underwhelming newcomers..

I'm okay with Little Mac of course, and I'm iffy on Pac-man, but he's iconic at least... I hope the rest of the newcomers are actually interesting. There are tons of characters left that deserve spots, no excuses for anymore joke characters.

Golden Sun has had 3 installments though, and a really obvious pick in Isaac. He'd fit in perfectly and would be pretty recognizable as well I'd wager. And I'm not even talking about how easy to compose his moveset would be.

I don't know, Isaac had two games eight years ago, and then he appeared as a NPC in a game that sold pretty poorly. Golden Sun isn't that big or popular of a series, and it's not old enough to be retro, so I don't think it'll get any playable characters.

I don't think that's true. There aren't that many "deserving" characters left.

Oh, you should play 2. Better by a factor of a million. They've actually bug tested and the like - probably one of my favorite flash games, alongside that Mario Crossover.

that is just a whole other level of funny.

I don't see how it'll have more than Brawl. As inspired as WFT is, she's a sign of how obscure character selection is getting.

I predict 16.

I don't know, they can easily choose other characters that have become more relevant in other series and such (best example would be Bowser Jr. IMO). It seems like they wanted to get people talking with Mega Man and bring the Villager as a tie-in with AC, and then get people talking even more with WFT. WFT is the WTF, while Mega Man was the we want him badly, and now you get him.

Hahaha

Reasons why I think the Smash Prophet is right:

- He listed Villager, when the prevailing wisdom of the time said Sakurai wouldn't include an AC character as per his past comments

- He listed Wii Fit Trainer, a character NOBODY saw coming

- He listed Mega Man, and of course, Mega Man was revealed

- He posted his list on GAF the night before the Direct, and didn't edit it after the fact

- He told Gemantsu his list of six E3 reveals a week before the Direct

- There is a "Smash Circuit" boxing arena; much like "Smashville" as the AC stage, I suspect this is Little Mac's stage

- There's symmetry to these reveals: Two "character" newcomers (Villager, Little Mac), two third-party mascots (Mega Man, Pac-Man), two "Wii" characters (Wii Fit Trainer, Mii).

- Wii Fit Trainer's reveal coming AFTER Villager and Mega Man, in her own separate video, suggests other individual trailers may be lined up for their own separate reveals

As for why Nintendo might do such a thing... Perhaps the plan would be to give us three newcomers on the first day, give us the second day to talk about them, and then close out the event with renewed momentum with the reveal of three more newcomers.

Sakurai's in town, he'd probably like to see the reactions. He's not one to NOT outdo himself; he always goes above and beyond the call of duty. He brought five newcomers to Brawl's debut; six newcomers (including two third-party) would certainly do the trick here.

So... I don't know. I'm cautiously optimistic.

If you're right, then...

Did GAF make this?

On topic, I think this might only have a few more characters than Brawl in total. Link seems to have Toon Link's Up+B and Toon Link appears as a stage prop. I suspect that balance refinements are a big part of this game, so perhaps redundancies will be shaved off.

Wonder if we'll get full-on daily Dojo updates again...

Ah, and so the obsession begins...

Did he also list Shulk? Then I hope that he's right.

What's the story behind this supposed leak, anyways? Are we talking about that guy who guessed WiiFit Trainer, Mega Man, and the Villager? :lol

That guy told Gemantsu, a week before the Direct, that Nintendo's E3 would feature reveals for Villager, Mega Man, Wii Fit Trainer, Little Mac, Pac-Man and Mii.

He also posted his "prediction" the night before E3. And he didn't edit it.

No one else ever guessed Wii Fit Trainer. Even the roster makers don't have her.

No one was guessing Villager, either, since Sakurai had previously ruled him out.

What do you make of this? Dumb luck?

I don't think that's true. There aren't that many "deserving" characters left.

Agreed. At this point it's picking characters that would enrich the gameplay experience with unique playstyles.

So the first smash had a total of 12 newcomers (It counts dangit!), melee had 14, brawl had 16?

Sweet. Patterns.

Yeah, no. I doubt we'll get exactly 18 or whatever new characters.
Keep in mind that there's at least 7 characters for Brawl that were to be included but got axed, and also keep in mind that we don't know how many and which characters had been thought of being included for the prequels.

The same could very well be the case here.

Really, guys, get off of the numerical value thing. Sakurai and co. are not going to go into a meeting and be like "Alright guys, we need exactly 18 new characters who are we going to put in?", but they're using a rough estimate and work by that, basically going "Okay guys, we've got X amount of time, we should be able to do around 10 new characters, let's see who would be good to add". But it's an estimate - it might be more, it might be less.

I think the characters he mentioned are all legit (they seem like pretty obvious choices to me), but I'm not sure if we'll see all of them this week.

Well, the GBA is now old enough that there are a lot of gamers out there who got their start in that generation of gaming. I mean, there are people complaining that it was 8-bit, classic Mega Man who got in, since it was GBA Battle Network Mega Man who they grew up with. GBA stuff now officially counts as classic stuff that people are nostalgic about from their childhood.

"Retro" is an ever-moving target. I think that stuff from the N64, Gamecube, and GBA eras are perfectly valid sources for nostalgia characters.

Shit, stop making me feel like the oldest motherfucker there is :lol.

BTW, Golden Sun was released 12 years ago, and sold over a million copies worldwide. I would say that it was a reasonably big success. It is at least as big as any other Nintendo GBA title.

Agreed. I don't think seeing them all this week was ever a certainty; only a possibility, one Nintendo probably prepped for but didn't necessarily set in stone.

Oddly enough, Mii and Wii Fit Trainer make a lot of sense. They represent an entire generation of Nintendo consoles. Which new series did EAD introduce last generation? Mii games and Wii Fit. Smash Bros. is sort of like a playable Nintendo museum, and it's cool to have characters from the "casual dominance" era.

Man, why do you have to be so right. :/

so 18 seems the most likely.

18 would be awesome, especially if they're as unique as the newcomers so far.

Is there a post on GAF explaining this? I'd like to see the full post of this guy.

Good catch. Let's set the expectation at 18
I can't tell if you guys are joking with this subject... they're going to include as many characters as they have the time and budget for. The number of new characters is a vague goal that may change with time. We remember the cut characters on the Brawl disc right?

Well the guy who posted it here is the guy who runs Gematsu. His source is the one who told him the characters. He probably didn't post it on Gematsu since he couldn't confirm them. He posted them jokingly in a Smash thread here and no one batted an eye. Turned out it was half true, meaning the other half is 99.9% likely.
