Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

Or get rid of Ike, and have both Chrom and Marth's replacement together in a Pair Up, akin to the Ice Climbers (with the ability to swap the primary character on the fly). I know I've said it at least two other times in this thread, but I honestly think it's a great idea.

Whoa, I'm down with that idea. Chrom is already pretty different from Ike, especially since he can use lances and javelins. But Lucy is a problem, since she's the exact same as Marth and there's no way Marth is leaving.

Marth stays, Ike stays, I can see Chrom or Avatar being the newcomer with Lucina being another one or if not, as an assist trophy at least.
It'd be great if she could be part of a final smash somehow, like she comes out of that
time vortex for a double slash with Chrom.

You'll get no sympathy from me.
I suppose you could keep Ike, but it's been two FE reps per game for the past two games, the latter of the representatives coming from the latest Fire Emblem installment. I don't think they'll deviate from that, and dropping Ike in favour of a combined Chrom/"Marth" character would satisfy that, and accommodate the question mark over who the Awakening representative would be. As well as demonstrate a key mechanic from the game (that distinguishes it from other mainline titles) in a fairly clever way.

Just because something had a mild pattern in the past isn't indicative of anything.

With a series as diverse and old as FE, the best way to represent it would be to have characters from across the series' timeline. Also Ike is a really popular character in Brawl.

I think we will see some representatives from the eshop Nintendo titles like pushmo, dillion rollin western and harmoknight

I have a good feeling that we are more likely to see Roll, Proto-Man or Zero as Assist Trophy and Dr. Wily as Boss in story mode.

We seem to have Yellow Devil though, I don't think we'll get two guest bosses for a single series.

If they make Tekken-like alternate costume characters, like Panda/Kuma, we easily could get Protoman as an alternate skin for Megaman with a different voice. I really hope they take that approach here. It'd allow easy fanservice for several different series.

I think FE deserves 3 reps now though. We can have Marth, the original lord, Ike, a popular FE lord and unlike Roy, was actually unique in how he played, and Chrom, the latest lord from the most popular FE game yet.

Please no more pair ups, Ice Climbers should not be viewed as an example for doing anything. I'm worried enough about Diddy/Dixie now that she's back.

Lucina would make a terrific addition and a great unique female character to add to the roster but it is just terribly unfortunate that she is too similar to Marth and unfortunate what a sacred cow Marth has been made into.

Actually she would be more akin to being like chrom given she has similar abilities to him
While on the topic if Lucy and chrom were "paired up" How do you think they will balance them?

After Fire Emblem Awakening's success, I'd say more than 2 reps are likely.
Heck, if Star Fox has 3 reps, Fire Emblem absolutely deserves it.

So what do you guys think about Lucario and Ike returning?

Both are not really relevant anymore, but both were unique characters and popular at the time.

Honestly, I want both to return, but they did cut Mewtwo, despite him being unique (I'd also love to have Mewtwo back)
If FE and PKMN receive at least 3 and 5 character reps, Ike and Lucario may as well be confirmed.

I have a good feeling that we are more likely to see Roll, Proto-Man or Zero as Assist Trophy and Dr. Wily as Boss in story mode.

I only think either Protoman or Bass have a chance at being the AT.

Eh, I find it unlikely that Ike or Lucario are coming back.

Lucario can be replaced by the new Mewtwo, or even better, Zoroark, or a new Pokémon altogether would be just fine.

I see Ike getting replaced by Chrom. I see them playing rather similarly. Both are swordsman and Chrom would lean more to Ike's style than Marth's.

Of course Awakening and the FE series in general is probably popular enough to get more than 2 reps, like Star Fox. But Star Fox characters appear throughout the franchise. Ike was specific to last gen. So I'm afraid it's bye bye Ike.

I want some more vets revealed. Diddy, Olimar, Dedede, Yoshi. I'm pretty confident those 4 are in, I more just want to see what they look like in-game, and if Olimar has 2 new Pikmin types.

Ike was specific to last gen. So I'm afraid it's bye bye Ike.
Mario still uses FLUDD, Villager uses his City Folk design. Ike was "specific" to last gen, he was first in a GCN game... He's also one of the very few Fire Emblem characters to be the main character in more than one game.

Just watched the Dev Direct. Villager's "pick up anything" moves, I can see becoming a god-tier troll counter. His tree cutting move is genius too. A lot of thought got put into him.

Mega Man's normals being the Mega Buster is exactly as I'd hoped. It's fucking awesome how Sakurai took inspiration from MvC, though. I guess when you've had a character already pop up in a crossover fighter, it's hard not to take influence from that.

WFT doesn't seem all that special as a fighter. Maybe she's really strong.

Even better? Hahahaha. :p

It's entirely possible they'll put in a Pokemon that we have not even seen yet.

Pokemon speculation is really early until we've all played X & Y.

Dojo was such a cool unique feature that made you have that much more respect for the process.

They NAILED megaman in that trailer Sakuri is a master at his craft... What a fantastic game kid Icarus 3ds was

I don't think we'll get anything from X/Y, at least not as a playable character. Look at Animal Crossing, they aren't representing the newest game. In Melee, they managed to be up to date with most characters, including Roy from an upcoming game at the time, due to its short development time. I think the current Smash games, with their longer development seem to have more difficulty keeping up with the other franchises, due to the basic plans being set fairly early during production.

Pretty sure Lucina is guaranteed over any other FE character.
don't think she would be the 4/5 th Nintendo Figma if it was a character we will never see again.

Skyward Sword Link got a figma, but they used the TP design for the E3 demo and now a color swapped version of the TP design for the new Smash. We'll see though, I guess. Smash Bros so far hasn't had a single "Zero and Tron Bonne in MvC3" yet - secondary character appearing before protagonist because he's a fan favorite. I don't see Lucina replacing Marth, and I don't think she'd make it before Chrom (unless the Avatar somehow beats both of them - then I could see Lucina added without Chrom around).

If Pokémon trainer got updated, what Pokemon would you like to see him/her use? You're only limited to starter Pokémon and their evolutions.

What I would like to see:
Chikorita | Dewott | Blaziken

I know character talk is fun, but what about items and stages and other stuff? Like I could see a new Pokéball Pokémon being Eevee and every time it comes out it could evolve into one of it's evolutions and then attack differently. Plus it's showing off that new fairy Eevee.

Or for a new stage they could do a Pushmo one where the blocks are shifting and being pushed and all that. That would be cool.

I don't think they'll replace Pokemon Trainer, maybe update his looks a little but it'll still be Red with a Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard.

that would be incredibly boring, he's the perfect character to update with every new game. Also, I think we could get a female version this time

Lucario can be replaced by mewthree or whatever he's called, since lucario basically replaced mewtwo.

I am always laughing at this line of thinking.

dat smash cycle

Does anyone else think it was kind of funny how Star Fox as a series got such high billing in the reveal trailer? I mean, I know why--Fox is on of Smash's biggest mainstays. But I just thought it was funny, considering how much the series has fallen by the wayside in comparison to the other franchises in the opening montage.

Well, the "status" of the IP doesn't really matter in Smash presence. I mean, you could argue the same thing for Metroid, and one would argue that 64 3D managed to pull some sales.

Chikorita, Quilava, and Feraligator

None of the other generations can't even hope to compare to Gen 2 starters.

People assuming Lucario will be cut make me laugh. The speculation there is based on an incorrect assumption (that Lucario replaced Mewtwo) and further a pattern that could have only had one point. You can't make a pattern with one point.

Lucario still gets pretty high advertising billing, and he's still popular as ever (see the E3 XY trailer, where Lucario shows up in the Pokemon Amie). To be entirely honest I'd guess that Jigglypuff gets cut before Lucario, even with Original Twelve status and her new reclassing as Fairy-Type.

I doubt Lucina will be in as anything but a Marth alt. Chrom makes more sense as the Awakening rep, and he could easily be paired with Robin assisting from the background to make him a unique fighter and represent Awakening's Pair Up system.

Why am I still trying to speculate, Villager and Wii Fit Trainer proved that Smash Bros. speculation is futile at best

Well, I think Zoroark is sexy, but I really don't care what Pokémon they use honestly.

I wouldn't mind if Ike came back, but since they didn't bring Roy back, I see it as unlikely. And if Chrom comes, Ike may seem redundant. ANd I want Chrom more than Ike again. But if Ike comes back, I just hope he doesn't have his steroid Radiant Dawn design. Eugh.

Fire Emblem needs another stage.
I was thinking a throne room would be pretty cool. Aside from that Advanced Wars definitely needs a stage at least on the 3DS version at the minimum.

nope

Lucario is gone folks, new Mewtwo/Pokemon Trainer 2.0 are the next Pokemon representatives

why would Pokemon trainer be replaced? He's the representative of the first Pokemon games, I never really thought they'd replace him since he was so iconic of the series as a specific game and not a brand. Whereas Pikachu, Jigglypuff and Lucario were reps to push the Pokemon series as a brand, Pokemon Trainer went back to showing Pokemon as a game. He's not part of the Pokemon brand, he's very specific to the game series, and even the way his Pokemon were handled were more game based, than series based (no sunglasses Squirtle or cutesy bows on Charizard or anything like that)

I'm pretty sure they'd keep all three in the same Generation, so here are my preferences:

Totodile/Quilava/Meganium

Mudkip/Grovyle/Blaziken

Turtwig/Monferno/Empoleon

Tepig/Servine/Samurott

Froakie/Fennekin Stage 2/Chespin Stage 3

He's still popular, no denying that. Popular as ever though? That's just stretching it. Unfortunately at this point Lucario looks to have the least chances of returning out of the Pokémon characters. The truth is simple; Pikachu isn't going anywhere, Jiggs has an updated status (Fairy-type) and is part of the O12, and a Pokémon Trainer (be it Red or otherwise...) will no matter what return.

The question that begs to be asked is if they will expand each universe's roster at all, because like it or not, Brawl had at most four characters per franchise (even going as far as classifying Yoshi as a different franchise), and that is why people say Lucario "replaced" Mewtwo -- because he had to be added as a popular, current character, and Mewtwo was dimmed a redundancy.

My main is Red, and I'm afraid he, Pokémon most iconic character, might be replaced by Callum or Serena. What makes you guys think Lucario is safe?
