Metal Gear Solid V (PS3/360/PS4/XBO/Maybe PC) - Extended 9 minute E3 trailer

Well that is kinda big =\

I just didn't enjoy the game

Currently playing Portable Ops myself actually. Certainly not a good game, but it's much more enjoyable on the Vita. Mapping the camera controls to the second stick help quite a bit. I can't say I'm enjoying my playthrough, but it's manageable in short bursts. :/

I must say keifer's voice does not fit with big boss at all. I'm not someone who even looks at voice actors or know who the previous snake was that everyone keeps talking about, but I have played MGS4 and jack bauer's voice does not fit at all with big boss. It feels very off.

Also, isn't big boss evil? or is this his story into how he becomes the demon?

This is the story of how he becomes a villain. Though, in recent MGS games, I think they've worked to soften the image of him as villain.

This is the story that shows how he becomes the Big Boss we come to know him as in the later games. I think the idea is to paint him more as a tortured soul that had to make tough, brutal decisions to get where he did instead of just outright being evil though.

I'll admit Kojima stating that it was a joke reference about himself is a bit shaky and he could be lying, but then why lie that there is another character there? He could just have said there is another character we're just not talking about yet.
Probably doesn't want people to start thinking/theorizing about that one detail too much.

But as far as additional clones I think it is a pretty solid bet that there will not be any additional clones in MGSV and probably the rest of the MGS series. Allowing there to be more clones reduces the uniqueness and importance of Solid Snake. So I don't believe Kojima will ever want to introduce more clones into the story.
I'm not thinking "clone", but rather "decoy".

we all love Hayter
I don't!

Portable Ops is considered canon
Well, it was at some point, at least. Dunno if it still is.

Sucks that you're not enjoying it. Especially dislike the boss battles

You should play the Big Boss Metal Gear games, everything will be clear. He starts off as the good guy but after a few events he starts losing his way, which ends up with him having a twisted view on things and making bad decisions. This game will show how he finally becomes the "bad" Big Boss

I guess being evil makes your voice change in the MGS universe. Or at least in the Snake family genealogy. Kind of like a warped form of puberty.

It would explain why only Solid kept the Hayter voice in old age...

There's a camera cut while Ocelot is talking to Snake. I think they're just trying to simulate the handheld camera filming style, but it's not something they're totally beholden to. The average cut is probably going to be pretty long, with lots of seamless moments, but they'll still use cuts when they feel the need to.

It looks edited there too. When he is back under the arch, there was obviously more in between.

Not saying I'm right but so far I think it appears to be set up this way.

I can imagine the MG1 remake now: When you'll fight Big Boss, it will feel like a reliving of The Boss' battle. Big Boss refusing to change, to undo what has been done, living his "role" to the end like The Boss did. Difference is he tried to fight back, when she let go. But ultimately it ends the same way.

Is regular snake an adult in that timeline? I wonder if he will make an appearance. This game will probably be very dark but also a masterpiece in it's own regard. I'll get it either way.

For some reason I think Kojima will do something interesting, like have the player control both Big Boss and Solid Snake at different points in the battle. Shifting the perspective back and forth from you to your enemy, now that would be cool.

The Phantom Pain is set in 1984, so Solid Snake and Liquid are only 12 years old. Solidus is the same age, but would appear older due to accelerated aging.

Going by the theory that the young boy is Liquid, Snake should also be still a lil boy. Let's see how the game develops. Maybe it's skipping some years at some point and bam, there is snake!

David (Solid Snake) would be about 12 during MGS5. But I think it might be plausible to expect a short epilogue showing Solid Snake in training or prepping for his first mission, that kind of stuff.

It is funny when the game releases in 2014, to "let the legend live again", the same year "the legend" dies in MGS timeline (MGS4)!

Well the real hero in MGS series is Ocelot, he didn't miss any MGS game (all numbered ones) !

same polygonal model ?

Metal Gear fans still desperately clinging to Gray Fox I see.

MGS3 isn't going to be Big Boss in the past, it'll be a time traveling Solid Snake or Revolver Ocelot using a VR simulation and brainwashed into thinking that it's the past (even though it will be; see: time travel). Kojima and his tricksty tricksterisms!!

MGS4 won't have an old Solid Snake. It's just a trick with the Octo-Camo. Old Snake will actually be a clone of the real Solid Snake, who is still young, and is also pretending to be old with OctoCamo. You trickster Kojima, you can't fool me!!!!

MGSV isn't actually Big Boss, it's Gray Fox who has been surgically altered to look like Big Boss to protect the real one and that's why he's called "Punished Snake" and why his eyepatch is a cyborg binocular. The kid who is confirmed to be Chico from Peace Walker? That's a young Solid Snake, because I never played Peace Walker, and therefore am immune to the tricks trickster trickses that the master ruse artist Kojima puts into his every trailer. Also, David Hayter will be voicing every character, in secret.

That's what I thought MGS4 was going to start off as: the end of MG1 (or MG2 actually). I thought it would be the game's intro. And then flash forward to the future.

Genius. You've figured it all out.

Lmao, that is spot on.

has anyone seen this its kinda far fetched and there are some things that arn't explained, but i think its good disscusion regardless.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tb1WhDdto08

I saw this and I was going to be believer!

Everything here is kinda confirmed:
- Chico (may die too)
- Paz dying on the table
- The masked kid is Psycho Mantis
- Eli is Liquid Snake
- Skull face is Galvez
I analyzed the theory in the video and everything seemed plausible, the big emphaisi in this game about FOX theme, from the voice of Big Boss changing for no reason (don't tell me what Kojima said about getting older and thus voice changes, Old Snake in MGS4 is even older and still maintained same voice), Big Boss getting the same robotic arm of Glavez aka Skull face (I thought maybe Skull Face cut Big Boss' arm as revenge, and Big Boss got his as revenge too in Ground Zeroes in Omega Camp (that's why we don't see Skull Face in any other place except there, he may be dead in Ground Zeroes which has one time per day (night) and no day/night cycle like in Phantom Pain), and then Ocelot forced Ishmael to undergo painful surgical operations just to look like Big Boss' decoy while he was in coma, even implying cutting his left arm too, and that's what drives him mad later after Ocelot betrays him and in MGS1 he got payback by cutting his arm, and at the hospital he got his initial face redone and the diamond shrapnel removed thus the bandages wrapping his head and then maybe later the scar of the diamond shrapnel) until I saw that Ishmael (thought to be Gray Fox, yes yes I got that possibility even before the video) didn't have a missing left arm; everything sounded so delusional. So I cross fingers and I can't confirm whether the main character is Big Boss or Gray Fox. For me the main protagonist is just "?"

I always thought those theories were ludicrous.

MGSV isn't actually Big Boss
Not this one though.

Could be. No way to really tell right now. I do agree that there's a very conscious seamless aspect to everything they've shown though. Really long lingering cuts.

because kojima did it once in a game he made 12 years ago it's bound to happen again

can't fool me

Why would you think that?

Because back then Kojima said he wanted to do some things in MGS4, such as if you burned a tree, and you came back years later, the area would have changed accordingly (new sprouts would have grown where the tree was burned, etc.). So I thought it would spawn many years in some way, and considering Snake was old I thought you might replay a past part. Big Boss was killed with fire, so I thought we would relive that, and come back to Zanzibar later.

Liquid is in, so i'm pretty damn sure Solid will be too.

TGS = young Solid Snake reveal trailer

Believe.

We don't know if that's Liquid. I doubt Kojima would just throw this in there like this, it would be pretty important. As for a young Solid Snake, I doubt it. There would be no need for Snake to have ever had any serious involvement with Big Boss prior to MG1. He was just Fox Hound's boss to him.

Liquid might be in the game, to explore the relationship between him and Big Boss, which was very different than the one with Snake (practically non-existent). But Solid Snake, I really doubt it. Not prior to the MG1 period anyway.

Yea the arm still being there just didnt make sense, but to add more fuel to the fire Rising was originally going to star Grey Fox idk how that would of worked, but to make him relevent again after a long absence and just use him in the hack n slash game didnt seem right so i assumed that he will play a big role in MGSV. I also like to believe in the Moby Dick idea of Ishmael being the main character.

Two things.

Intresting that Emmerich, when standing up and raising his arms, is in the very same room he is tortured in. Could it be some kind of stress-test by the gang, to make sure they don't buckle under pressure if caught?

Also, why does everyone say that Big Boss kills those children? I don't see it. They look like they see something behind him, and in the next shot he is clearly aiming the gun upwards. Hinting at either someone bigger, or people on higher up ledges since they are in a cave.

Listening to Skull Face's Japanese voice actor I got the feeling that Skull Face could be Gene. He was part of FOX, and sort of Snake's antithesis. Also, of all of the characters Kojima might revive, I'd imagine it being a character he didn't originally invent (Gene), so that he could have his own spin on it.

Yeah, it's probably edited to be misleading. Plus, it wouldn't make sense for Kojima to have Big Boss kill dozens of (presumed) innocents in a cut scene, when he places prevalence on the player deciding who they kill. He's probably shooting something to allow them to escape, but obviously couldn't converse this.

So speaking of Emmerich, Otacon is born in 1980 and TPP supposedly takes place in 1984. So it has to be asked why would Emmerich go back to working with BB after starting a family? Unless of course Kojima does some serious retcon shit and says that Otacon never met his real father (Emmerich) but was in fact raised by a step-father who he thought was his biological father.

This would of course explain why he never knew his father worked on the original Metal Gear.

Bro, he making shit up as he goes along.

I'm just A LITTLE bummed that Mother Base turned out to not be Outer Heaven. A game where Solid Snake who is essentially Raiden sneaks through what is essentially Big Shell to fight Big Boss who is essentially Solidus would have retroactively made the S3 plan even crazier by virtue of creating a 1:1 parallel of both Outer Heaven and Shadow Moses.

Didn't David live a more "normal" life than Liquid (Eli?). We know he lived in different foster houses and was inducted into the Green Berets as a teen, then he fought in the Gulf War at age 19.

Depending on circumstances he might or might not be in the military yet, or at any case he should still be serving in the U.S. right? He doesn't meet Big Boss as an adult until 1995 when he joins Fox Hound as far as we know.

It's going to be interesting to see if Kojima sticks to the canon or if he decides to introduce Solid earlier into the story by some means, I mean it's not the first time he does this, iirc Frank Jaeger/Grey Fox's OG story is incompatible with his Portable Ops part right?

The camera is downward, looking up, from their perspective. It's clearly meant to at least give the impression that he kills them.

Extremely unlikely. The voice is quite different in Japanese (and in English the voice actor for Gene is the same as Galvez, so it really means nothing). It says he is "without a past". So I doubt it's anyone we know, or else it's someone we haven't yet figured out. Still looks like a zombie to me, and the name Skull Face seems to hint at that too. I'm thinking he's someone who was dead, was decomposing, and was brought back to life. The decomposition process stopped then, leaving him to look like this.

The bomb with the peace logo makes me think of Galvez (the peace sign he did with his fingers, Peace University, etc.).

Found this on the MGS wiki too:

in addition to the aforementioned concept character artwork of Zadornov, the Official Art Works also included some more concept artwork of what he would have looked like, including a design where he possessed glasses, and a design giving him a similar appearance to Indiana Jones.

Never saw the image in question, but I wonder if it involved a hat and high boots like Skull Face.

Regardless, I lean more towards the idea of him being someone we never heard of, or else Galvez (due to his relation to Paz).
