Dragonball Z Battle of Z (PS3/360/Vita) announced

I always get a bit excited about a new DBZ game. But after the horrors of Ultimate Tenkaichi and the Kinect game I am not expecting much... will check it out nearer release.

Interesting, finally even vita will have a dbz game

Port?
Stop with this vita=port meme, people doesn't even know the difference between port and multi?

Yeah im tired of people saying port when the game is multi for vita. thought i was the only one annoyed by it

It was great fun in co-op.

I loved Sagas too

hi5

Team melee action game. Featured in next week's Jump magazine. Supports up to 4 players co-op, and up to 8 players in battle royale. Online play confirmed.

Who's the dev? Dimps? If it's Dimps, I'm interested. If it's garbage Spike, I'm out.

Yeah, this is probably Zenkai Battle Royale.

'Battle of the Z' suggests no allegiances. Plus Zenkai Battle Royale is focused on 4 player death matches (which it seems they doubled to 8).

Could be ignorance on my part here so I'll happily be corrected but if it is Zenkai Battle Royale I can't see myself being too excited for it, the combat i have seen from youtube videos looks very...meh, like the idea is cool having multiple people on the field fighting at once but it looked pretty poor in regards to combat mechanics.

Once again that could just be me being ill informed, i am only basing it on the videos I've seen and the people playing could of just been total peanuts.

Dear Namco Bandai,

Please port the Xenosaga Trilogy to the Vita.

Thanks,
ULTROS!

Hmmmm looks "different" from the scans.

No more normal 1 vs 1 battles?

There was a small screenshot in the scan that showed a battle taking place and it looked a lot like DBZ legends did on the ps1, also the hud was extremely similar with the team mate health bars on the side and what looked like a power balance meter. All speculation of course.

Sagas is pretty fun with a friend, but it still felt weird playing with the stiff animations and awkward movements. I wouldn't recommend it but it was a pretty long game with decent co-op, lots of fun can happen with a game like this with a friend.

Also this battle royale game sounds fun. They had me at team combat and Vita.

The child in me that grew up with DBZ is kind of excited. At least it's a change in their standard DBZ game formula. Hopefully it's decent, but I guess we'll see.

Hm. I was really hoping that we'd finally get a Zenkai announcement by now.

But I'm hoping ByKing, Dimps and/or Craft&Meister (fresh from Gundam Breaker) are involved in some way anyway.

Why are they still making DBZ games!? They just get shitter and shitter with every new one that comes out... This is coming from one of the biggest DBZ fans btw. Budokai 3 was and still is the best DBZ game ever made. PERIOD.

They're bound by a contract to have a game annually. They sort of got around having a short time period of dev for a new game last year by having DBZ Kinect and the Budokai HD Collection. Who knows if that really brought the dev team enough time to actually make a fantastic game this time around.

Good lord, stop with all these DBZ games. Can't believe people still care about the franchise.

It's really because so many people grew up with it as a kid that it's just one of those things you get nostalgia for. Even if the games generally tend to be mediocre, you still enjoy them because of the material they're based on. And... they can't stop because they're bound by a contract to continue to make these games yearly.

It's sort of like a "Sonic game syndrome", where people will buy *anything* because they love the characters, even if the quality of the games are super bad or subpar.

It's like saying how come people still like DKC or Sonic remakes. There were good and bad games, but overall the series is quite likeable. As long as you make good iterations, no one
or like 99.999%
complains

Edit: Am I the only one who prefers budokai style? I didn't like the free roaming of Tenkaichi. I like my fighters a bit more classic. Two chars on the screen facing each other like how we did back in the Street fighter days.

I liked Tenkaichi 2 and 3, in fact, they're probably my favorite DBZ games - capturing the style of the show, having tons of characters, and, especially 3, still managed to make the characters feel differently, even minor ones. The later Spike games were all pretty bad though.

I'll really never understand why they couldn't have just made a Tenkaichi 4 rather than attempting pointless reboots still based on the same engine, but stupidly tweaking it for no reason, just to justify the reboots, until it basically got unplayable with Ultimate Tenkaichi (and never reaching the character selection from the previous games either).

Am I the only one who prefers budokai style?

There's a post right above yours praising Budokai 3.

hope this new gen opens up new possibilities for DBZ games, as we all know they will be coming :)

The ongoing quest for DBZ games feeling more and more like show we saw!

Think DBZ would make a sick open world action game with an rpg like twist :P
kinda like some of them old DBZ SNES games. I remember playing one game where they actually let u (if you were able to) keep tien chou-su yamcha and piccolo alive and take em to namek (something as small as that can be so mind blowing!!). Also fighting with SS Vegeta at the end of the game as a secret battle!!!
I mean c'mon WTF!!! the game ends after goku kills freeza.

ITS DBZ PEOPLE, think more outside of the box!
tired of the same dbz games over and over.

Last one I played and actually enjoyed greatly was DBZ burst limit (got pretty dang good) on the 360. One thing I felt they captured well moreso than any game before was the sense of speed the character had in the show. Pressing block at the right time would have u teleport behind your enemy, and it also gave them the chance to counter with their own block/teleport!! it could go on forever with the right players!

I did skip out on all budokai's/tenkachi's/sagas/world's/etc's.
minus DBZ budokai 1 which I got before I sold my ps2 and gave up on consoles for a while (PC all day). I did touch a few of them PS2 dbz games maybe for a round or 2 if I came across the game at a friends.

But as I plan on coming back to the ps4 now that it seems consoles can provide an experience not possible on PC, I hope the DBZ games get fresh takes!!

A vita port and not a Wii U port? I think I am getting a little understanding where the next gen is heading to...

Anyway, dumb title, but if its fun, why not? The vita needs some love too.

this is not a port. This is a multiplatform game all being released at the same time and developed at the same time

Budokai >>>>>> Tenkaichi

Even Burst Limit is better than trash like Ultimate Tenkaichi and Raging Blast.

yup but in the end Tenkaichi 2&3>>>>>>>>> the shit that is all of your wretched abomination Budokai games
