Wouldn't read much in to the eye colour comparison, his hair colour is totally off because of the lighting. People thought we were seeing old man Naked before. Eye colour is probably affected too.

I think that was Blaustein's translation. From what I remember, Kojima's writing never said that.

Whatever man. I actually did some more research, and now Eli being Liquid is less hunch, and more straight fact to me.
1. Eli is a biblical name, same as David and John. And, that character in the bible had 7 siblings. Just like some one we know?
2. Eli is wearing a necklace of Jackal teeth. Liquid bragged of hunting jackals in his youth while killing grey fox.
3. Eli has a snake in his lap during the trailer.
Eli is Liquid. Relax, it's a good thing.

You're pretty good.

I didn't doubt Eli being Liquid. I just doubted that particular line. Big Boss being cloned while in a coma was also a mistranslation.

Any cool new info in this one? I'd love to listen to it, but alas, I'm stuck at work for a couple more hours.

They expanded on some of the new features. The day/night cycle is at 6 hours game time for now. But they said it could change in the future, and also the realistic weather.

Dynamic cqc allows you take weapons from enemies like Snake/The Boss have done in cutscenes of previous games, instead of stunning an enemy and then taking his weapon it all happens seamlessly. The mech at the end of the Red Band trailer is playable.

I'm still listening to it xD

Thanks for the info and updates. :)

6 hours is waaaayy too long unless A) there's a timeskipping mechanic or B) you can choose what time it is when you start a mission. If they're going to make it that long they might as well just make it 24 hours and synced with the system's clock, I'd love a little animal crossing in my metal gear.

Goddamn, now I'm thinking about how cool it would be if just on christmas, in an enemy base, all the enemies leave their posts to huddle around a christmas tree and exchange presents. This needs to happen.

Now I can't go to sleep because of that video.

Also, his eyes look green in the bottom pic to me, but it's too hard to really say for sure. Top one is definitely way to difficult to tell.

EDIT: Yeah, bottom pic definitely looks green to me.

It doesn't matter how many times I watch it, the "whoa" part when the Metal Gear Solid V text appears about The Phantom Pain at the end....those feels....just wow.

Heh, I'm sold on that theory.

Hell no it's not, I hate the stupid 20 minutes of daylight you find in most openworld games; the longer the cycle lasts, the better.

If we end up playing as Gray Fox instead of Big Boss I will break every single Metal Gear disk I have

It would be too much. Anything more than a single act. It would be funny though to make it the second act. Scare us like MGS2, then return things to normal.

Terrible image, but I remembered that they did the engine demo of GZ with everything changed to daylight.

Looks blue to me.

No one doubts that 2 string eyepatch snake is big boss people doubt that 3 string eye patch wearing snake is fake you know the one with the pony tail.

Also does anyone think we will play as Lil Liquid idk why but i kinda wanna go around sneaking as that kid im sure that will set off alot of peoples radars for going too far since that would mean that he can kill and be killed violently, but with kojimas stance on breaking taboos i wonder.

But what if you want to do a mission at night? You'll just leave the console on for a few hours?

If there's a method to fast forward, as people said, that'd be fine though. 24h cycle even.

Gray Fox being the main character in MGS V makes perfect sense.

  • While Bigboss is comatose, Miller and/or Ocelot decide that Bigboss was an asset. He is a great friend, but his role as a soldier and leader is needed.
  • Frank Yeager/Gray fox was in Big Boss's crew. When mother base was attacked Frank Yeager was mangled and brutally maimed.
  • After interrogating Huey, Ocelot orders him to start a new project. They want to take Bigboss' DNA, memories, and anything neural, and transplant it into a new host.
  • DNA and nueral qualities get transplanted in Yeager. Strenuous plastic surgery is done over the course of many years so his face matches Bigboss'.
  • DNA/memories/neural transplant will override and "fog up" Yeager's memories.
  • After 9 years of memory and neural transplants, along with extensive plastic surgery, Gray Fox is placed in a hospital and the memories transplanted make him remember the attack from Bigboss' perspective. Gray Fox was put into a induced coma during this project, is woken up in the hospital by the doctor as seen in the trailer.
  • XOF follows the trail of Gray fox being admitted to the hospital. They think it's Bigboss, and decide to attack the facility.
  • The face bandaged soldier is actually Gray Fox's real ego or self. Gray Fox still has remnants of a few memories in the past. He sees himself as a hallucination or a figment of his imagination. Could be triggered by Psycho Mantis doing his freaky mind shit to everyone.

Gray Fox shot a bunch of innocent Rhodesian people in 1979 correct? Bigboss never shows that much guilt for what he's done, usually because most of the pain is inflicted on other soldiers. That one event could've been so traumatic for Frank Yeager/Gray Fox that no matter how much of his mind is altered or taken away, he still feels guilt for what he's done.

Phantom Pain for a event one can't remember. The guilt and pain that's manifested is based on Bigboss' own memory, but the location and reason for the pain is from a part of Frank's past that can't be remembered.

And the title Phantom Pain is perfect for this scenario. Living a life that isn't your own, remembering and feeling things that aren't your own, being a completely different person but still keeping parts of yourself, these will be the greatest phantom pains.

The real Bigboss could've also come out of the coma long before nine years, but decided to step back and make decisions behind a shroud rather than make himself a target.

the mind fuck never ends with Kojima... for the record I loved 4 so I welcome all the madness. But seeing how much they retconned, I wonder how he has approached bringing new things to light after already attempting to blow everything open with 4.

I really don't want to believe the Gray Fox theory just because of how ridiculous it sounds on paper. Not even Kojima ridiculous, just bat shit insane ridiculous.

big boss is not actually big boss but is gray fox with accelerated aging and a cyborg arm doing stealth shit exactly like boss but he is not the boss he is gray fox and is going to save kaz because i dont know but he is gray fox
