Um, my purple Sonic was not just a simple color edit, it was my original character Plonic.
And I'm not purple Tails! I'm my own original character Plails!

Wha? I doubt an HD Collection would harm sales of the next Smash Bros.
Not that I really care about making custom clothes, but with how popular Brawl texture modding is, it would've been a popular feature.
Nintendo would see it that way. I don't believe as such either but you know how crazy Nintendo is...
If they were to do a HD collection I'd like it to be an HD remix type thing. Have the gameplay from Melee with characters from Brawl/Melee, and stages from all the games. (I actually just want Project M with good online play)
That would be aweso-
OH GOD WHAT HAPPENED TO GAF
It keeps going back and forth between messed up and regular for me.
Been reading Sakurai's interview about removing characters. Interesting that he hasn't had to remove anyone yet, makes me wonder if he's tentatively worked something with Sega and Konami. No guarantee, but maybe it's a good sign.
Sakurai specifically denied custom clothes, because they could make the characters look generic. It's something else.
At this point, I'm expecting something like the stickers in Brawl, but balanced for multiplayer.
Brawl online was dreadful, and I'm not expecting much from Smash 4. There will be no matchmaking and people will continue to just taunt.
Sonic being exclusive to Nintendo consoles for a few years makes it seem like he will almost definitely be in. With Snake I think Sakurai and Kojima are friends so I would think he would be back as well.
Where was it confirmed there'd by no matchmaking? How do you know? You think it'll be all completely random again?
Name a Nintendo game with skill matchmaking.
Also, @Vidiot, I don't think every character will have a reveal video, only certain new ones.
EDIT: Page king two pages in a row. "You're too slow"
Considering Sakurai's unwillingness to talk about character removals, I assume we won't hear anything about that until closer to release. I'd like to believe we wouldn't have to wait that long to find out, but we probably will. The way Sakurai keeps referencing Sonic every time the topic of third party characters come up is probably in his benefit.I just wonder how long we'll have to wait to know for sure. I mean will they do special trailers for Sonic and Snake again even though they were in the last game? I'm just curious how it's going to play out,, especially with the dojo being sort of deconfirmed. I really hope we don't have to wait too long to find out if they're returning. If we get bad news about them not returning I'd rather know now instead of going through months of anticipation to only be hit with a huge disappointment bomb close to release. It would really put a damper on the whole game for me.

Mario Kart?
Ah, forgot new Mario Kart's did. Well there's hope then. Still hoping for ranked 1v1 mode.

I just played Project M on Special 300% for 2 hours and, holy moly it's fast as hell. One of the best things about it is respawning takes a second.
The stages are super dull though. Everything is pretty much the same and is built for tournament play.
I gotta to give that a try.

IGN: Smash Bros. is a very competitive series, but you have avoided detailed online stat tracking and leader board ranking systems for Brawl. Why is that?
Masahiro Sakurai: Well, I'm sure that people hitting ranks one through 10, were there such a ranking system, would be incredibly pleased with it and having a lot of fun. But, you know, it's not fun for everybody involved per se if such a system were to exist. I was asked this time around to try and get Wi-Fi into the game and so certainly we've managed to get wireless battles so you can play with people in other places. But it's really a game in my mind that has been designed to be played with a smaller group of people -- be that a group of friends or within your house a group of family members -- competing in the small circles and not really worrying about winning and losing so much as the process that gets you there. That is where the fun should hopefully be for a lot of people. It can also be kind of trying and painful for some people who want to be at the top and think that they're really good at Smash and they look at their online ranking and they're the one-hundred-thousandth best Smash Bros. player -- those are some of the reasons I've decided not to go with leader boards.
Yeah a lot of the stages in PM are pretty same-y. Hell, even the "new" Battlefield looks shit.
Then again I already said what I think of PM.

I think the best thing to do is ignore anything Sakurai says about Brawl or competition or hurt feelings.
.....
It sounds like he's making this game for himself, at least that's how it comes across as.
I mean, accusing him of being bad at his own game? Come the fuck on.Sakurai said:But that's not to say that I don't appreciate very high-level competitive play, the type of very refined competitive gameplay that happens in other fighting games. Personally, I have a lot of experience playing in the arcade scene, and personally came out as a champion of a 100-person battle in arcade Street Fighter II. ... So I don't wanna ignore that there's that type of pleasure to be had from the game.
He won SSF2 tournaments in his youth. He plays two characters at the same time with one hand each. Melee wasn't an accident.

... It's a quote from an interview he did at 2008's GDC about the last game, jesus christ people (and Anthony)......

How many times do you change your avatar?! It trips me out every time.
That's one way to look at it. But on the other hand, if you don't at least try your best to account for the high-end as well, you may end up with similar results.
For Brawl to be the antithesis of Melee, it's still a pretty damn technical game in its own right. And as time went on, various "tricks" were found that I'm sure 90% of players can't do (for example: Lucas' various "WaveBouncing/B-Sticking"-related tricks).
This is why I'm hoping that the Gundam Vs. series director can really lend some aid to Sakurai in this area. Gundam Vs. got to where it is (aka consistently topping Arcade charts in Japan) not because it's a game that only hardcore players play. Damn near everybody plays it, and the series always does an excellent job of making it so anybody can play it and enjoy on their respective level of play.
Why can't he just do a thing like Halo 3 did where there's a social playlist and a ranked playlist? Everybody wins.

Sakurai ain't perfect (anti-aging aside.)
Occasionally.
