PDA-age: Which one to get?

So I need to get a PDA for school, but I know next to nothing about PDAs. What's better? Palm OS or PocketPC? I was thinking about the Palm TX since some of my classmates have them, but I really have no clue. I just need something simple and reliable. Price isn't too much of a concern if the PDA's worth it.

I have a Palm TX, it's fantastic. Watch any video format, Listen to online radio/mp3/podcasts. Tons of good games, ebooks are wonderful......I use it for everything.

I got it a few weeks ago for 269 on Buy.com....looks like the deal is still available

Get a Smartphone.

I hated carrying around two devices all the time.

PDAs are dead.
Consider what you're going to use it for and then see if a Smartphone (or even laptop) can cater to those needs instead.

I also have a TX and it's just ok. The only reason I bought it over the Tungsten was the web browsing via WiFi and it's not very good at it. I even installed Opera Mobile and it won't work for some reason. I should have saved the $100 difference and used it to get the DS browser and two games.

and putting a video on it is so excruciatingly slow and the quality is spotty at best.

Unfortunately, I do need a PDA to carry around in my pocket at work/school, so a laptop will not suffice. I don't really want a smart phone at the moment because I may switch carriers pretty soon and I think it'll be a pain in the ass to switch. So I guess that's one vote for the TX. Any opinions on the Pocket PCs? Is Palm supposed to be the better OS?

TCPMP you can get plugins for every codec. I watch the office and Arrested Development on mine between classes.

EDIT:

I almost forgot to mention the SNES/NES/GB/Genesis emulation! Kirby is so much fun on the Palm.

pdas are pretty much dead... just get one off ebay or something. if you need to use it for medical/drug databases make sure it runs on the pda of your choice first
