Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

If they're including Snake this time, it should definitely be Naked Snake with some Cold War era weapons.
Eh, I disagree. Solid Snake's the face of Metal Gear -- it would feel cheap to include somebody else from the series, even if they are superficially similar. It would be like cutting Pit for Dark Pit (sort of).

The Snake in Brawl wasn't taken from a specific game, he had Big Boss' facial hair and Solid Snake's suit. He represents all Snakes except Liquid who has all the flawed, recessive genes and doesn't get to be in anything.

I'm fairly positive it's Solid Snake with an updated model based on MGS2:

Solid Snake is a clone of Big Boss, so obviously there are going to be similarities. It might be true that "he represents all Snakes," but by design the character is supposed to be Solid Snake. I don't think Sakurai intended to create some new fictitious Snake for Smash Bros.

Plus he talks to Big Boss in the codex taunts. It's pretty clearly Solid Snake even though his attacks take inspiration from the whole series.

Eh...

I think there's definitely some Naked Snake influence in the design there. I'm not saying it's a new made up character but I do think they started with the MGS3 model and I do think he's representing for the whole series. There's a reason he's not just called Solid Snake.

Yeah, and that seems to be true of Smash Bros. as a whole. Ness and Lucas use attacks from other Mother characters, for example. I suppose it makes more sense to take inspiration from other characters within a series before resorting to completely made-up attacks.

There's a reason he's not just called Solid Snake.
His trophy's called Solid Snake. (Then again, MGS3 is listed there, so who knows.)

He's referred to as "Snake" more than "Solid Snake" in the MGS games, so that's probably why his in-game name is shortened -- for conciseness. Just like Samus (Aran), Fox (McCloud), Falco (Lombardi), Wolf (O'Donnell), and (Captain) Olimar.

The thing about shortening it to Snake is that there's more than one series protagonist who goes by that name, and it looks pretty clear to me that they took Naked's model for Brawl. I'm guessing that Sakurai might not really care that one is a clone of the other.

I'd really like to see a Mario Party stage that works similar to Brawl's WarioWare stage. The main part of the stage would be the board. Players hit the dices to alter the state of the board and play mini-games while battling.

Doing this would also free up Wario to get a Wario Land stage this time. :)

In any case, I hope the WarioWario stage comes back as a past stage!

But that's the thing -- they're clones, so of course they're going to look similar. If Solid Snake was somehow included in MGS3 he would look just like Naked Snake. His Brawl face was probably based on Naked Snake because it was the most recent game, not because he was meant to be some weird composite of the two characters. His costume, Codec calls, stage, and trophy all suggest that he's supposed to be Solid Snake.

I feel like Simon Belmont is perfectly crafted for this game and it's sad that he'll get passed over for less iconic characters.

First, his moveset just screams "Smash Bros." He has the holy water, the axe (perfect for anti-aerial attacks), boomerang cross, dagger and for his smash move- the holy cross. Then there are all the music remix and stage possibilities. Vampire Hunter, Simon's Theme and Bloody Tears. If this game had Simon Belmont, Mega Man and old school looking Sonic in one place, I'd be too happy. Like a childhood dream game.

And that's why he won't get in... Nintendo and religion stuff.

Which never came out in the U.S.

You could make the argument that Devil's appearance in Brawl could make it work, but I've heard the term used in a Disney Channel cartoon.

The Gravity Falls episode "The Land Before Swine", for the record.

The WarioWare stage was a ton of fun in friendly matches. I hope it or something similar shows up in Smash 4.
I've love to see a stage like that be done with stuff like Rhythm Heaven (switches between stages from the DS and Wii game) or perhaps Mario Party (have the spaces (blue, red, battle, event, etc.) on the ground that cause different things to happen if stepped upon).

And Sin & Punishment (1 and/or 2) would make for a great stage where stuff is happening in the background. The ideal "floating platform while you fly around" type of stage. I just wanna see something evolve from Saki as an assist trophy. Perhaps some music this time around (Nebulox would be great since it was the boss theme)

Has anyone mentioned Wara Plaza place on the Wii U menu being a stage? Think it'd be a wicked idea, have random Mii's watching and reacting to the fights, while we fight on top icons. I can imaging the Mii's effecting the battle some how.. like just dancing around and moving the icons that people fight on, and @ 8 o clock Saturday nights specially appearance from Reggie

We're not in the 90s anymore.
Look at the Castlevania games on the GBA and DS. Religious references everywhere. One of them even has a statue of the Virgin Mary crying blood. Heck, "Order of Ecclesia" is, technically, the name for a holy order of priests and nuns, and Shanoa is one of them. It's a fictional order, but still.

Yes, but Nintendo of America won't let a game of their own have religious references... that's why we didn't have the Tamagon trophy in Melee.

And AFAIK their policies haven't changed.

FINALLY, I'm done with GAF's prediction statistic.

If you are curious about the statistic, here is the link.

Kirby should be 100%.

Especially since he's been in the intro trailer for Melee, Brawl and 4 and he's in the official artwork. Plus his games still sell pretty well and Sakurai created him (plus Iwata used to be a HAL dev) Kirby, Pikachu, Link and Mario aren't going anywhere.

But this is me nitpicking, and being very biased.

There were people who thought Samus would get axed? Holy shit.

Uhh... you're aware that this statistic is based on the prediction list of several posters? Somebody didn't include Kirby on their list, which is why he doesn't have 100%. 100% is characters that have been on everybody's lists.

Thanks, IntelliHeath!

Its so iteresting looking at the prediction, especially when the whole roster comesh out and some of those 50% and lower become part of the roster. XD

Also, I noticed Captain N isn't included. Am I the only one that put him down or something that it doesn't get included. :o

Ah, no, I was not!

In which case, my post is directed to the clown that didn't have Kirby on their list.

I think they actually forget to put Kirby and Samus on the list, but they should double check tho.

For Zelda, someone took her out of the list and put her as Assist Trophy. I was shocked how bold move it was.

Getting Zelda out isn't bad. SmaBro games tend to use previous gen games as a base for characters and stages. Zelda was legitime in Melee because of its shape shifting with Sheik who is much more a fighter character.
In Brawl? Well, should have been based on The Wind Waker or Twilight Princess, and in fact many people regret Midna's not making it.

I would suggest taking Zelda out and Skyward Sword Impa in. She is a fighter with good moves, unique silhouette (very tall) and with some magic powers. I'm not so confident to do the same move between Ganondorf and Ghirahim but having the latest one could be cool too.

Tamagon, the Devil and various enemies from Devil World showed up in Pictobits too, with the name listed. 2001 was a long time ago.

What about having the devil himself show up as an assist trophy on Brawl?

devil.jpg

For whatever reason, Demons and Devils are okay.

Look up what Edmund McMillen said about trying to get Binding of Isaac on the 3DS. Demons and devils are acceptable, but going beyond that for religious imagery makes people uneasy.

I actually have a weirdly strong feeling Simon Belmont is going to be in this game. Just having mega man there is like asking for it... asking for a full-on NES reunion.

Plus, Konami threw snake in there before, so they're more than willing to help out.
