Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

Don't get my hopes up.

well the way i look at it, it'd be either

-bayonetta going into smash
-platinum taking over kid icarus
-star fox/takamaru

i still think bayonetta is an unlikely inclusion, the kid icarus revival would be great but weird, and there was some pretty likely speculation that nintendo already has a star fox in the works by another studio.

Pretty much, yeah. I have a same idea. Retro characters would get something generic or famous villain from old game.

Pit > Medusa/Hade/Dark Pit/Possessed Palutena
Samus > Ridley
Donkey Kong > K. Kool

Yeah, exactly. And Mega Man had that big yellow thing (sorry)
Plus, I think it would be more fun to run through actual game worlds than the random/weird/new sub space deal

That's true. That reminded me of something what Sakurai said awhile ago. He said that he would like to bring old characters back from retro games. I wonder who did he bring back alive.

I highly disagree. I don't think most people buy Smash Bros for the story mode. If the multiplayer is good people will buy it. Anything else is a bonus.

The established audience. People who are already fans might get it, but it won't attract new audiences, and not everyone who liked it before would pick it up again anyway. Going in that direction would eventually just strangle the franchise. Brawl going with something like SSE seemed to show foresight and ambition. Even if the mode didn't work as well as it should , it left lots of space for improvement, which could help a sequel to stand out. Throwing that away and not replacing it with anything else would be basically giving up on making the series grow and would just lead to it losing importance overall.

Melee was a big jump in single player content from the original. So, was Brawl compared to Melee (at least in quantity, even if some people here would argue against the quality). So, saying that Smash would be fine completely losing that focus is baseless.

If this game is released with just a multiplayer mode and nothing else(no single player mode, no trophies, no stage builder, no bonus modes like break the targets, etc), there will be a ton of complaints.

Smash Bros isn't just multiplayer.

I don't get all the hate that SSE gets.

I would agree that it is far from perfect, but I enjoyed the two times I did it. Only wish it would be more compressed.
Kinda liked the boss battles, and it gave me a chance to meet and starting to love all the characters.
It defintily was a fun way to unlock them all, though I think all characters that aren't clones should be unlocked from the start.

And it introduced me to Stickerbrush Symphony :)

Thaank you, SEE gets mad amounts of hate for some weird little things, but I found it pretty marvelous and I'm real glad they put in the work to have it in the game. I also deeply appreciate any time a whole story can be told visually with minimal or no words at all.

Smash Bros isn't just multiplayer.

The game is going to have a classic mode, and hopefully an all stars mode, I'm just saying they don't need to spend time on another big story mode like SSE. Trophies are awesome, break the targets is terrible and I hope it doesn't come back, and stage builder could be great if done better. I agree with you that there should be more than purely multiplayer, since it makes a more rounded experience.

Overall though, after the first month or so, the multiplayer is what's gonna make people come back for months to years.

Hell just a few nights ago I had friends over and we played Melee and Project M for hours.

SSE I played once then forgot about. Adventure mode was neat the first time then I tried playing it again recently and it was not very fun.

One thing they should do is make classic mode fun again. It was a lot of fun in 64 and Melee but got really boring in Brawl because you'd always fight the same combinations of characters. There was no point system at the end of each match which I was pretty dissapointed with. There wasn't anything exciting like when you'd face metal mario in 64.

I enjoyed seeing the nice point screen as well, that would be a welcome return.

Seeing the results screen and trying to decipher what bonuses like "Lost Luggage" or "Rock Climber" meant was one of my favorite things about Melee single player.

One stage I really want is one from a Paper Mario title. I don't think Paper Mario will ever be a playable character but I feel a Paper Mario stage would be awesome. Maybe it would be set up like a battle stage from Thousand Year Door and the crowd would cheer when someone is doing really well.

I could see Paper Mario working as a playable character, especially if they did Young & Toon Link. Give him the hammer, some moves based on the badges, and allow his partners to be used as attacks as well. Though yeah, I think a stage would be great as well. Throw in some music (battle and boss themes would be great) and it'd be great to see the series represented outside of trophies.

& totally agree on Melee's Classic Mode returning. It was more fun having random opponents to fight instead of the exact same pre-set characters in Brawl. It was unique each time, wondering who would be the metal, multi, and giant battles.

He was asking what image should they use for the Bayo sticker. =P

Not cool. Lol. Yea it could be anything especially with kamiya.

I don't think we can glean what it "looks like" from the few seconds that we saw it...there was no indication of it being one or the other o___O
Imo its too big to be a stage hazard. It wouldn't make much sense. Iirc in some of the clips there are times where platforms and wires or something appear on the stage. Its probably a stage for a single player mode featuring the yellow gumby devil.

I'd like it if they would bring back the 'titles' you'd get at the end of a VS match, like Stiff Knees, Merciful Master, etc. Those were cool and make Brawl's results screen look pretty dull.

I was thinking about Spirit Tracks and I wondered if it's a better Zelda than Phantom Hourglass?

I really did not like Phantom Hourglass so I didn't bother with Spirit Tracks.

Spirit Tracks is a much better game than Phantom Hourglass. The only thing I didn't particularly care for was driving the train, which I suppose is a fairly significant portion of the game, but... uh, well, it beats the boat from PH. And everything else is much better. Much better music, something actually resembling a plot, actually themed dungeons (instead of the caves we got in PH), the main central dungeon is much better designed, and I liked controlling the Phantoms.

Thanks, PH's central dungeon killed my interest in the game, but I thought it was pretty drab even without that.

ST's central dungeon is completely unlike the one in PH too, since you never have to revisit any of the areas unless you choose to. No more speed-running either.

Probably it has already been said here, maybe just the page before this one, but it can't never be stated enough: BRING BACK THE BONUSES AFTER THE BATTLES! I was so angry when I saw they removed them in Brawl, so angry.

I care about single player content. What I don't care for is the need to play through modes with every character. Didn't even bother to do that with Brawl because we've hit the point when there are too many characters for it.

I wouldn't mind there being a trophy or sticker or something equally trivial for doing it, but I agree that they shouldn't have characters or stages unlocked behind "beat X mode with X characters" this time.

I want endings for Smash damnit! I'm kinda sick of "oh, character becomes trophy, here's a montage vid, and some screenshot"!

I never realized single player modes were that important to people. I always just used Arcade/All Star/SSE as a tool for me to get used to and dick around with characters before I start going against people and losing all the matches. Break the Targets, Boss Battles, and Event matches were pretty fun but I never played them again after I beat them/unlocked the trophy tied to them.

Speaking of losing matches, I'm looking forward to the possibility of some gaf-smash tournaments.

I really hope that it would be Wonder-Red from Kamiya because I would like to see Sega's spot going to Sonic to debut once again.

Assuming Sonic returns, I wonder if they will reveal him around the release of Lost World.

His Brawl reveal happened on a random day in October. But it still caused megatons lol. Wonder what GAFs reaction was.

And by anchoring Zelda with you the entire time you actually got to chill with Zelda instead of her being locked in a tower forever!

It was pretty rad.

Spirit Tracks is one of my top 5 Zelda games. It's excellent. It's mandatory that I tell people how much this game rules when it gets brought up because so many people shit on it when they haven't played it or didn't give it a chance after PH. So yea, duty done.

Just found better trailer with better resolution but I can't help to but found something in background, it's probably nothing.

Take a look at big screen. You noticed Mario's icon on the screen. It happened right before Mario got pushed into corner (CGI)

I guess first player is Link.

In the first pic, you can see a link icon in the bottom middle.

In the second pic, you can see a Mario icon to the right.

Oh and link's icon behind Mario's right leg.
