Just wanted to say that even though I don't go to Giantbomb all that much now, I still watched many of his videos during Giantbomb's first 2 years. I didn't always agree with him, but always thought he was very funny and had a very likeable personality...he was pretty awesome.

I'm going to miss that guy. Definitely a beautiful bombcast tribute, though. Also props to gametrailers for that video. You can tell everyone is just so genuine about Ryan, because that's how he was.

In all of this, there probably were a moment where Jeff considered retiring and leaving the industry.
I have nothing but respect for the crew if they continue on with the site, but if they pack up and leave the industry I world totally understand.

I doubt it. This is their livelihood. And they probably have the most freedom they'll ever have at any employer ever. The only thing I see is that maybe they feel like they need a change of scenery, and eventually leave to create another site which is similar. But even that I doubt.
You always feel like you'll never feel happiness again when someone dies. A part of you doesn't want to get over it, like you're forgetting them, it's a hard process. Give them all time, let them laugh and cry it out and take each day at a time.
Losing someone is like having a massive wound. Right now it's gaping open and hurting like hell. Eventually it'll heal, but the scar will always remain.

I'm sure they'll keep on keepin' on. I'm just glad they're going to take some time. They need it. I've always respected all of them so much. Major props to them for finding the time and strength to still release a Bombcast. Losing someone is always incredibly hard, especially when it's family or close to it.

I was thinking the same thing. Jeff may just feel that if he can't do this with his best friend he may not want to do it at all. I certainly hope not, Giant Bomb personifies pretty much all that is good in video games coverage. Losing Ryan is hard enough, to lose Giant Bomb altogether would really be awful.
I'm not sure what Giantbomb is without Jeff and Ryan.
Why would be back away? It's his love and passion.

I'm not going to lie. Since this news reached me here in the San Francisco bay, to seeing it confirmed on the site, I've been having a bad time.
I can't detail what happened leading up to July 3rd, but what I experienced during my trip to Southern California and what happened to Ryan has made it difficult for me to sleep.
I'm sad, furious, and unsure of how to proceed. I almost broke down here at school in the hallway talking to my friend who also attends/works on campus. Finally got if off my chest at least.

I hope not, I hope these guys can see from all of this output is not just how appreciated Giantbomb is, but how beloved they are as well.
I actually see this as renewing his vigor. Jeff's been... cynical for quite some time about gaming. Maybe this will remind him to be less cynical about things.

It's hard to say yet. The out pour of love Ryan is getting right now from all over has to be really giving them some strength right now. It depends on how these guys hold up after the internet and others move on from this tragedy while it still cuts deep for them. Personally I think they'll be fine and Giantbomb will live on but you really never know. Grief can be a weird beast.
Also, Pachter is a great guy.

I believe Jeff answered a question on his Tumblr stating that leaving Petaluma for now is not an option for reasons that he doesn't want to get into.

I want to watch it, but I don't know if I can handle it. Especially since I'm in class right now.
Didn't know Ryan as well as I would've liked, but we did speak from time to time and with all the videos they put out, he became more important than most Internet friends because of how much of his personality came through.
So glad right now that the instructor is going over a bunch of stuff that I know. It's hard to concentrate.
