Palutena aint really that great, Village. Chaos Kin stones her up no problem. She's technically a "goddess" but virtually everyone in the Kid Icarus universe is a diety of some sort. There's only one named human in the entire game. Within context she's effectively a queen, not an almighty god on a plane beyond the rest of the characters. And she's easily much weaker than Hades, and wimpy ol Pit manages to kick his ass.

So, are you getting both versions?
I was planning on getting only the WiiU version but after seeing the latest 3DS screens i'm really considerung getting both...

Getting the 3DS version. I don't own a Wii U and no games interest me as of yet, so buying a Wii U for this is pointless since I own a 3DS and there's such a bigger library of 3DS games out and coming.

Oh alright.

Does someone have the captain falcon pikmin gif.

...Uh, are you serious? You just perfectly described Shuma-Gorath. Who -- guess what -- is a playable character! I really don't see the point in arguing with you. You also haven't addressed why it's okay to play as Thor and Amaterasu but not Palutena. Dancing around something isn't going to make it go away.

Haha, I really think you like saying things without knowing what they mean. If anyone's moving goal posts here, it's you.

I was going to argue but I suppose lets drop it. Some people rather not see are squabbling , feel free to PM if you wanna keep going though.

All is inferior to Lucario anyway.

Yup, I'll get both. How good I end up feeling about it depends on how unique they make the mechanics between the two. Really push on the "build your character" aspect in the 3DS one, and do something similarly unique on Wii U, and it'll be a-okay.

Is anyone expecting an improved version of the Stage Editor/Custom Stages or it's just me?
I think it was a great idea adding this feature to Brawl but I feel it could be much better.
More backgrounds, more pieces/platforms to play with. idk.. I'd like to see that again.

I don't expect one, but I want one. I spent so much time making custom stages.

She is the reason pit beat hades...while slowly charging that darn bar and avoiding those lasers on 9.0

I live with 2 brothers, and we play Smash Bros a lot. So we'll be getting the Wii U version to play against each other (along with some Pro Controller's).

I'll also personally be getting the 3DS one for myself though. I'm much preferring what I see from it.

You know, considering all the promos Nintendo has been offering lately, it wouldn't surprise me at all if they did some kind of bundling deal for the two versions of SSB. Like register both on Club Nintendo and get a $30 eShop credit, or buy one and get $20 off the other, or something.

That would be the smart money.

Hades needs to be in, with his final smash being his disgustingly OP heart fucking shit up.

I'm really hoping for Palutena. She's one of my most wanted reps, and definitely makes the most sense as the next Kid Icarus rep.

The stage screenshot today is interesting. I had to check Sakurai's Miiverse post to know what it was... it's not very iconic. At all. At least, it isn't as it is now... I bet the stage gets hit by one of Viridi's bombs midway through the battle and becomes overgrown and gains a much more iconic look.

If Nintendo does do that (I'm hoping they will) I will definitely get both versions, if not I will probably just get the wii u version.

Y'all guys are hyping me up for Lady Palutena now. :(

I wonder if the GameFAQ's rumour is accurate. If so, we'll be seeing a new Pokémon rep soon, right?

Though i'm not buying it.

There are nearly limitless changes that can be made to both Ness and Lucas, seeing as how almost none of their moves reflect the actual abilities they had in their games. And if you think two is too many to represent the Mother series, you are what is wrong with the gaming community.

A completely Poltergust-based Luigi is just plain silly. It may be a starring role for him, but it's just one small series out of his diverse history, play more Mario RPGs please.

LOL-WTF

I just said that Lucas is a waste as a clone and that it was basically there just due to the recent release of Mother 3. Where did I say or made you think that two characters are too much for Mother? Also I probably played more Mario RPGs than you, since I've played them ALL bar the two came out on 3DS.

Why should you look at RPGs for Luigi's movesets? You can't play him in Paper Mario and in Mario & Luigi almost all his moves are combinations with his brother! Also it's obvious one should take moves from the series which has Luigi as the protagonist. Are you telling me you prefer a Luigi with 3 out of 4 specials taken from Mario plus the senseless Luigi rocket? His Poltergust would make for an amazing set of specials.

Now that there's a Smash coming out for the 3DS, a console with quite a wide causal userbase, I hope they keep the causla/gimmicky mechanics/stuff relegated to that version of the game.

That way, they can focus on making the Wii U version a lot more tourney friendly, maybe even more tourney friendly than Melee, as it wouldn't make sense to try to get causals with Smash Bros for. Wii U as the only Wii U buyers for some time now will most likely be the hardcores.

I really hope so, and so far it looks to be at least somewhat the case! The stages we've seen for the 3DS version have all been of the crazier variety, whereas every stage we've seen for the Wii U have been seemingly much calmer. They just need to be careful with how many stages they have with walk-off edges and they'll be all set!

Erm, isn't Smash Bros. always gimmicky?
And Sakurai said this version's aimed at the intermediate player.

Man some of the arguments as to why certain characters can't be in the game are pretty damn stupid guy's. Lol. It's Smash.

EDIT: I can't wait to own both these games.

This is actually my complaint about the Wii U version so far. There's too many calm stages but then again we've only seen very few stages from it compared to the 3DS version so I guess it's too early for me to complain.

Catching up on the thread now:

The Super Effective makes this even better. I'm dying of laughter.

We've discussed this for like a page now and it means nothing.
Hardly that big when she made a reasonable boss-fight.

Let's not get onto this, shall we?
Man, you both are easy. It was an obvious joke lol

Make a stage that has miyamoto telling the sticker star guys how to make their rpg's and the tension in the room is a stage hazard.;

B-b-but characters from Animal Crossing can't fight! OK I can somewhat see the Ridley argument, but come on now we are saying Palutena can't get in? She'd fit in just fine, the gods in Kid Icarus can choose whatever size they want to be, and unlike Medusa and Hades we see Palutena at a normal size many times.

I'm like 99% sure Palutena being "too big" was a joke, lol

I'm really shocked that so many people are missing the joke...

If Wii Fit trainer and The Villager can get in, ANYONE can.

Seriously, whether it be Mii, Ridley, Duck Hunt Dog, Nintedogs, [insert unthinkable], they all got a chance now.
