You cant build up THAT much goodwill, then say lolz, sorry guys we're not ready.

IdeaMan may know some stuff. But, I doubt it gets delayed.

I can't wait for when tomorrow goes by and Sony's statement is something along the lines of "We do not comment on rumor and speculation."

I'm seriously leaning towards DF publishing an article tomorrow which says "PS4 bandwidth downgraded to 156GB/s and split memory pooolz!" because Sony will confirm the 20GB/s bandwidth for the CPU.

Hardly earth shattering news, and Leadbetter will get it wrong, either by incompetence or through malice, but he will get it wrong.

They'll run it through their graphical equaliser again so certain numbers become different ones and run with it.

Exactly, this isn't some nonsense like them being cheeky about bandwith or what not, they came out on the presentation saying 8GDDR5, that's what they have to stick with cause that's what they promised.

Yeah, because Sony's consoles always ended up with the announced specs. /sarcasm

Yeah, almost like they ran the cost numbers and no way can they put 8GB of GDDR5 in it. Maybe they are switching to DDR3 or only putting 4GB in.

Whatever it is it HAS to be bad, because there's no way in hell you can improve upon 8GB GDDR5!!!!!!!

Or it is nothing.

Oh man...one part of me should be upset because I pre ordered a PS4...the other part of me is desperate to see Sony-GAF get a punch to the gut to send them back to earth. I'm so conflicted!

You will have to sign your soul over to Cerny in order to use the 8gb GDDR5 RAM.

Normally I would take any "breaking" story like this with a huge grain of salt BUT given Sony felt / wanted to make a statement first before the news came out really does spin this in a negative frame. This could be any number of things from production issues, clock speed issues to a major executive leaving Sony.

edit: yeah...so i re-read the tweet... "memory drama"... ignore all in my post after clock speed issues....

This is probably just typical games journalism bullshit. Drama my ass, probably nothing.

I don't see why people would expect them to ditch the GDDR5, that has always been the plan, the quantity is what changed before the reveal. Could they drop it? I doubt it, games in development already use more than 4GB.

The ram really isn't that big of a deal...not sure why everyone clung to it as if it were the holy grail of next gen. If there is news then it's probably not positive considering that the ram is the last thing that would need an upgrade.

I really wish they would just announce more games for 2014.

My best guess is that Eurogamer got some info on the OS allocation of the RAM. It might be bigger then we anticipated, 2 GB or something. Which means the total amount of RAM for gaming is smaller then we initially thought.
