I fail to see why making gross generalizations about Japanese players is a more appropriate response than criticizing the game designers responsible for the change. It's possible for the question to be silly or asked for the wrong reasons and still reveal something troubling about the game.

Stop being so dramatic. No one is claiming that Lightning's breast size is a dealbreaker. Given the enormous amount of criticism of both the previous FFXIII game and the advanced footage of this game, Lightning's breast size and physics are likely to be far down on the list of complaints. However, the change here is suggestive (not conclusive) of a trend toward objectifying Lightning that could be legitimately troubling for some players.

It's a silly non-issue to be sure, but when it makes up like 1/5th of new information it stands out lol. Plus, most Japanese RPGs this gen that are overly sexual tend to be focused on that aspect alone and are actually garbage.
I know it's not quite the case with LR but it's not so much the actual act, as much as it further cements how Toryiama has a weird perverted obsession with Lightning. I don't believe it's purely for the 'sex sells' idea, as the LR concept video that is floating around early pages of the thread makes it obvious to me. His comparison to the rose and stuff is beyond 'sales' and into 'weirdo pervert'.
No one is going to judge it purely from this, but it's funny how every new piece of info is laced with fucked up shit like this. I am more worried about the fact you can build your character in such a way to avoid having to block, or being able to beat the last boss in 50 seconds. I get you can beat plenty of old FF bosses quickly with certain setups, but it's clear Lightning's customization will be much simpler than that of a 3-4 person party who has multiple layers of customization.

You say "forced" when people just have the option of not commenting at all (where one could have just left it alone even after his colleague partially opened the door). Given how often that happens in the video game industry, that should just be such a "go-to" option unless said creator willingly wished to divulge and/or was proud of the idea.
Lightning's varying breast size/physics is not going to make or break the game, but if it's something that's sleazy, I don't see the problem in calling it out. Some called Itagaki out on this back when he was making BDSM playgirls with DD's as far back as Dead or Alive. People called out Soul Calibur on Cassandra, Ivy, and Taki's increasing breast sizes (and gradually revealing clothes) over the course of the series.
It's not a matter of desperation or grasping for hate. In fact, it's quite the opposite; doing stuff like this really only leaves an easy target no matter if it is a video game, a movie, cartoon, book, or any other piece of media (in case point, see the hubbub over Suda's gigolo mode in Killer is Dead).

Context of the question as posed at the event indicates someone asked about it because Toriyama himself mentioned it during a Japanese E3 interview. So the first to jump in the mud was Toriyama.

IIRC Its the same engine (Crystal Engine), but with some changes in things like lighting and character models. I remember them showing comparisons of the Lightning model from XIII and LR in a video (cant find it now), and it was very different (things like hair, skin shade), for the better.

It's worth talking about because it's a supremely bewildering comment that sheds a somewhat negative light on the game's direction and intended appeal. It's also really funny.
Can't be the new GILGAMESH if you aren't funny to begin with. And isn't even royalty.
Either way it doesn't really bother me. GILGAMESH has always been a very minor character. He's popular but not so popular that he needs to be in everything.
I'm fine with his development in Type 0.

It's clear they want FF to be mainstream cliche garbage and if that is what they want then fine. I'm not their target audience anymore. If I want an RPG I'll look at Atlus, MonolithSoft, etc. I can only hope FFXV simply goes above and beyond and sends a good message to the RPG populace. Because if it fails, I fear for Square.
I've always clamored for a new Legacy of Kain, Chrono Trigger, Valkyrie Profile and what have you but it is clear that isn't the way to go for Square Enix. I fear I won't even see Drakengard 3 get localized.
They no longer take risks, they will play it safe, they will stagnate and die off coasting on past successes devolving into a parasitic cipher relying on the fruition of those that long left the company and will eventually rot into darkness and decay.
I will seek a game that offers me an adventure instead of having to have my hand held just to walk around a park I've already visited over and over again.

I'm actually somewhat interested in the gameplay aspect of LR but I usually find pre-release gameplay discussions to be a bit boring (for any game really) so I don't participate often. I find myself getting quite ecstatic at every new costume reveal or snippets of the story though and would usually chime in on that. You could say I'm part of the problem.

What this confirms: 1) Lightning has no no-shield setup. 2) The way Lightning is posed indicates that all weapon/shield combinations will likely use the same animations. There might be variation on animation speed I guess.
Otherwise, there's nothing interesting to discuss. We already know regardless of what kind of weapon she equips, her offense-type stats (just these 2: Power (whatever they call physical strength), Magic) will change. The shield governs HP, ATB recovery, and possibly buffs/debuffs.
There's no mystery or possibly interesting setups here. It's been simplified to that point.
What you can consider the most interesting aspect is that you can attach buffs to the abilities, so when you use an ability the passive buff might activate.
If you're going to complain that others aren't discussing "interesting" gameplay, why don't you first step up and post something interesting to discuss. Don't blame the fanbase for the marketing failings or the director's presentation of material we find more to discuss about than the gameplay aspects.
