You know what, I retract my previous prediction as you're right. I wouldn't be surprised if his whole family dies and he remains alone with his cancer.
On the other hand, they don't deserve to die and Walt should get all the punishment.
I don't think they deserve to die, but Walt is so driven by hubris and ego I can't see none of them receiving blowback. It's just too much of a target, and given the amount of times Walt has put his family in danger, it only makes sense to kick that justification away from Walt too... that of doing this all for "his family." He's doing it for himself, as I'm sure you know, and has been since probably close to the end of Season 1.
Yeah, Walt's done cooking. Just be glad his final cooking scene was the amazing Crystal Blue Persuasion montage.
To date, other than a few other elements (never was sold on the train heist or the plane crash within this universe), my biggest problem was how neatly they tried to make it seem like Walt disconnected from his meth cooking life at the end of Season 5, Part I. it was so incredibly out of character for the Walt they had built up, and Skyler - after this monster of a man literally emotionally abused her for months leading up to a horrifying climax where he stomps around the room after her demanding she tell him her strategy to getting out of this situation as he bats them all down - is all smiles and OK with being around this man again?
I understand Skyler went along with the money laundering, but my impression from many season 5 episodes is she realizes what a mistake that was. That whole final moment of Season 5 really felt completely wrong in every way.
I await this season to see if they can make that feel right at all.
