The "Official" Japanese PSP Launch Thread (NSF56k)

Sorry to bring this up (and yes, I am a noob... please forgive me ;)) but does anyone know of a launch date for Australia, and for that matter, anywhere else that isn't the US (ie UK, rest of Europe etc.). Can't find any info anywhere, and I'm sooooo jealous!

March 05 is the date going round at the moment.

PSP, Metal Gear Solid 3 , Resident Evil 4 Cube all in March... FUCK !!!

From reading this thread & the Gamespot Televised clips im simply blown away by this ! Never have i been hyped for a handheld like this.

Im hoping they release some arcade or better than perfect classics like NBA Jam (not the 3d shit). That would keep me occupid on my plane holiday trips.

Any word on Visual Concepts bringing over NBA/NHL ?

I'm now officially part of the PSP owners club today :)

Impression later...

uh oh...I played the PSP today. RR was a bit disappointing. Sense of speed is lacking (at least with the first car) It moves way too slow. And for some reason it seems like the other cars stay spread far enough apart so there's only 1 on the screen at any time.

PSP itself is smaller but much fatter than I was expecting. You can tell the thing is packed to the hilt with components. DS is actually slimmer in it's base.

sorry if you dont want to hear any impressions removed from the hype.
believe me I'm disappointed too. I was all ready to be swept off my feet by the PSP and never to look back. It's nice but it's not the be all end all handheld system people have made it out to be. That's all I have to say.

wait til you get the faster cars...then your talking speed.
and your right, the cars are a bit apart from each other but I have encountered occasions where I am racing vs. 2 CPUs at certain corners. Why not try 8 player wireless multiplayer if you want to see like 5 cars in one screen? :-P

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. This is from the RRDS is "pretty good" fence? hahahahahaha. Oh God, the laughter. You do realize you have ZERO credibility? We'd get more accurate unbiased viewpoints from Ken Kuturagi or Miyamoto himself then from you.

COUGH.

How many impressions did you have to read to cobble that together? :lol :lol :lol

BTW, I constantly have more than one car on screen in RR...

I thought I was done in this thread. But I'll point out that those pictures were taken at different distances and pasted together. How else could the PSP and DS be the same length?

That's good if it does happen. Keep in mind I only played it for like 5 minutes.

He said it's thicker "at the base" which presumably means only counting the lower part of the clamshell design.

yep exactly. The PSP feels "thick" when you're holding it. Honestly I'm not here to bash. Maybe I wasn't blown away by "teh screen" because I'd seen it before at E3. This is the first time I Played the PSP.

Oh I dont know how well this will go over with the non gaming crowd. Most people were like "meh". One of my non gaming co-worker was like your gonna go blind looking at that small screen. :lol

I was like: "It plays movies too!"

"meh"...

Well, I mean, it doesn't matter whether you were 'blown away' by the PSP screen. There's absolutely no denying it's leaps and bounds beyond the competition. It's the best screen ever to be attached to a handheld gaming device. So blown away or not there ain't nothing that matches it.

Anyway, I can't speak for how it feels in my hands. I don't know whether I should take you seriously or not (you're not exactly known for your "unbiased viewpoints") but I hope that I don't experience a similar feeling of it being "too thick." I can't say it won't, though. I have odd taste in what is and is not comfortable.

Just out of curiosity, did your "co-workers" enjoy the Nintendo DS? I'm just curious. You know. Curiosity and the cat and all that without the killed part.

Edit:

You added this in after I quoted you. This suggests you were going out of your way to think up a scenario for how people viewed each unique aspect of the PSP. Not good for your credibility. *writes it down*

Hm. I'll just state that that is the exact opposite of what I have encountered, and leave it at that.

Who's this Gigadent, and why's he being a troll? You people seem to imply he's done this before, could I get a little history lesson seeing how I must have missed his past antics? :D

Actually I didn't make a big deal about the DS because I figured no one would care. I leave it on my desk all the time and no one has even noticed it.

Well you can be the judge of that. I'm telling you right now it's not as sleek and light as you'd think from the internet photos. It feels more like a stuffed potato. It's really packed in there. I'm amazed to hear people have dropped it and nothing broke.

nope not making it up just trying to detail my experience. To be fair, the non-gaming Japanese guys seemed pretty interested in it.

I see. So can we assume, then, that your workplace just are unfun people? Assuming you do actually have a PSP and did actually show your co-workers? They have no interest in DS or PSP so it seems to me that you need to find a job with non-boring people!

Heh. I'll make note of that.

162,000 Reports that PSP is comfortable and does not feel like a "stuffed potato"
1239 -> 1240 Reports that the PSP is uncomfortable
1 Report that the PSP feels like a "stuffed potato"

Yep, he's done this before. I'm not gonna get into it. Just keep this in mind... he's full of shit.

Remember that. And think about me when your holding a PSP for the first time :D

You are the first thing that will come to mind when I gaze at that magnificent screen for the first time. Trust me. I will think "seismologist, boy, he was right... what a stuffed potato!"

My iPod feels like a chili-cheese burrito, too.

Do you really think you have the credibility to post such a thing? :P

Giga, up to his usual trolling ways. Some things never change.

It's still hard to believe that he is actually Giga...

I mean, I always thought Giga was into the "latest and greatest" hardware around. The DS certainly doesn't fit the bill there and, really, it doesn't fit the "quality software" bill that he might claim to fall into either. :)

I guess you missed the threads when he was trolling Xbox and claiming he owns one...

Long story short, gigadent was a Sega fanboy trolling the PS2 before and after its Japanese release, just like he's doing with the PSP. Soon after, he bought a PS2 and did a 180, turning into a Sony fanboy. After the Xbox's release, he started trolling that, and claimed he owned own. When people here challenged him, he went to another forum and asked someone to scan their receipt so he can present it here as his own, but his cover was blown, and it made him look like an idiot (i.e. not much changed).

Ahahahahahhaaha. That is classy.

I pretty clearly remember him making a post where a bunch of people he hangs around somewhere has gathered around him in awe when he was playing on a DS.

Forget about having played a PSP, his first line of bullshit was obvious like 3 pages back when he claimed to have a friend...that should have tipped everyone off right their it was all a lie. :lol

This is the explanation to transfer music files to the PSP. Can someone make it clear for me. Will I be able to use a Pro Duo memory stick with SonicStage?

edit: You can't for the moment, there should be an update from Sony.

Also, is the PSP magicgate compliant from the box? Anyone willing to confirm if they can transfer ATRAC3s from SonicStage directly to their PSP?

Sad, just sad. :lol
