Have all the action shots of the Pilotwings stage only shown two characters?
The bit that throws me a little about the stage is that - somewhat akin to the Pyrosphere suggesting there's no Ridley as a character - it suggests that there's no *dedicated* Wuhu Island stage, which would be a little strange.

the pilot wings level makes me feel like it can be a level i can choose in training mode and just chill in while it flies around the place, i like being in the sky generally

Yes, crawling was Brawl, they also added wallclinging for certain characters
Nono, they released another shot I think. First
part was above water with those rotating spikes second was Pika and Kirby on a 2D plane similar to NSMB2.

thats right, there ws wall clinging aswell, certainly tripped me up the 1st time that happened, i think i thought i glitched for a split second

oh yeah! and that too! for some reason this back in the day also added to my "movesets and speed mean to imitate DBZ slightly" theory, DBZ always came to mind when playing the smash series, i remember losing my shit when blows connect and block eachother out. must be build up to something

Pilotwings stage turns out to be a blessing in disguise. I can't believe we actually considered it could be a moving platform above an island sprite for a moment. Looks quite interactive, with planes spinning and apparently characters jumping from the red one (where they seem to be in the second picture) to the yellow one.
I also am intrigued by the fact that it appears to refer to the original Pilotwings island at first but eventually uses Wuhu Island. Linking them somehow is a lovely idea -- I wonder how transfer from one to the other will occur.

Oh wow, that's just perfect. It seems like a great stage. It has moving platforms and the scenery changes. Just great. I hope we visit Wuhu's volcano.

That's the most beautiful screenshot yet. This level looks like an absolute joy.
Also, is this the first time the camera can move behind the stage? Seems like up until now it's been limited to rotating only in front, while this was clearly taken from behind.

i believe we would be seeing from behind the plane as the island, the setpiece, is where we're suppose to see it

The fact that it is extremely colourful is what does it for me.
I was concerned cause a lot of the WiiU stages so far felt kinda drab or monotone-colour wise compared to the 3DS version.

I agree, the first stages were pretty bland compared to the last few they announced.
Even on 3DS.
But Pyrosphere and Pilotwings convinced me.

If all you can see in that shot is a lens flare, you're missing all the best parts.
Then we're going to need some kind of transition. In the earlier shot of this level, the planes were clearly flying away from Wuhu instead of toward it, and we were looking at them planes from the front. And since we'd lose our pseudo-2d "plane" if the camera actually rotated around, we're going to need some other kind of transition to get from one view to the other. You know what I mean?
