Microsoft: "It’s up to us to prove that [Xbox One is] worth $100 more [than PS4]"

Feels more like a quota that needs to be hit on a daily basis lately than actual news posts with these kinds of threads. :-/
 
I'll wait for a $100 price drop or when i can get it on craigslist for $100 less.

I will never pay more than $400 for a console. If the PS4 was $499 i would of done the same thing. I have 0 interest in Kinect and i am not paying more to have it.

I also get a ton of discounts and free games with PS+. I don't need it to use any apps or to use a lot of the online stuff like F2P. What have i gotten with my XBL subscription for the past 10 years? Assassins Creed 2? Halo 3?

I don't care to pay a premium long as i am getting my monies worth which i have gotten in spades with PS+.

that 100$ will look much worse if and when there is an apparent graphical gap between the two.

and just dont go this route ms. stay humble, listen to people and announce that cheaper kinectless sku sooner rather than later.

Why is 500€/$ equal to 600€/$. But not to 400€$ ?? I get what you're trying to say, but your analogy doesn't make sense.

Edit:
Besides people. The difference with the Xbox 360 vs PS3 was +/- 200€/$. Which was 50% of the cost of a Xbox 360, this is a huge difference. Nowadays the difference is "only" 100€/$ which is 25% of the cheaper console. The cards are different this time. You can't one-on-one compare the next-gen launch to the current-gen launch.

I think 500 wouldn't be as big of a problem if Microsoft's competitor wasn't 100 cheaper while delivering a basically comparable/superior gaming device at the same time...
 
It is uncanny going through the 2006 train wreck of a launch the PS3 was and witnessing Microsoft make all the same mistakes including the price defense.

First : I doubt that dollar value doubled in just 7 years, Time value of money doesn't work like this.

Second: just to remind you that launch X360 was way behind the times by not having HD port, Wirless and HDD ( some models) while PS3 was offering cutting edge technology at a low price, BD, wirless, standard HDD, HD port and BC compatibility.

PS3 price was a bargin for the time, BD players were priced at $1000 in 2006.

I only bought it day 1 because it was the cheapest blu-ray player at the time and i knew blu-ray was going to topple HD-DVD because they had the studio support. If i had any kind of faith for the HD-DVD i would of passed on PS3 at launch and went with that.

Thank god i didn't because that HD-DVD became a paperweight incredibly fast.
 
Can anyone debunk this floating around? Rumors about the X1's dGPU?

The xbox one would have a separate dedicated GPU with about 2.5-3TFlops?

I'm convinced it does, with Kinect and stuffs... But I'm not convinced that these added elements will bring me more as a gamer than the 400 dollars PS4 at this stage (quite the opposite actually). The price is right, the perceuved value us not.

I'll buy both anyway, it does not look like a bad conosole and I want to play their exclusives.
 
I'm afraid of the TV ad. Games are the only thing I can see them pushing. Anything else will just be confusion. I can see them having charts in store lol
 
He's saying exactly what he's required to say. You can count all the "I think" qualifications and call him uncertain or without confidence, I see it as speaking without the arrogance we're used to seeing from the Microsoft PR engine since the train jumped its tracks.

Albert Penello may be the mouthpiece of a company worthy of derision, but the man himself has come across as genuine enough to me.

Edit: But I will add that if he honestly thinks $100 isn't a deal-breaker, I suspect he's in for a shock.

Defending 599. Come on...

Price was an issue then (much worse) and is an issue now. I think a bundled game would help, though.

You realise the Xbox One is more expensive than the PS3 was at launch in most territories? And it's not even coming with anything as technologically expensive as Cell, Blu ray etc. Both these new consoles are far lower in BoM than the previous gen consoles. The Xbox One is much worse value in that regard.
