I just don't understand people like this. It's not like there is some massive death penalty you suffer if you wipe. They probably waste more time complaining about it and looking for someone else than they would have if they just gave you advice on how to proceed.

I almost guarantee they were FFXI players.

I think you're grossly exaggerating to the point of lying or being completely unreasonable.

Nope, I wish I were. After the first 3-4 days, it mainly only happened during the evening (once people got off work, of course), but at the time, I was doing college classes all day, so being unable to play the game once I got home really soured my experience with it. I'm probably in the minority of that point, but it eventually stopped (I think Blizzard implemented a ton of counter-measures to fix that sort of it), and life went on.

It wasn't an ISP issue, either. When I'd get frustrated with D3, I'd go hop on WoW, and it was smooth as glass.

Back to FFXIV discussion: Sounds like they didn't update their servers enough :P Like, it almost sounds like they were in such a rush to prep the servers, they forgot to implement some of the recent fixes for things like 3102?

...or someone forgot to set a setting to "OFF" instead of "ON" XD

Gotta love when you end up in a party with people like this.

We actually had a new PLD for the final dungeon run at the end of the story. Other PLD let him tank and ribbed him a bit during the
Ultima Weapon
fight when we wiped twice. All in good fun for the most part, but he did get pissy at one point saying he hadn't been healed at some point when we wiped during the final phase of that fight.

Some people remember this is mostly a game and should have fun and others are dicks who feel that you're worthless if you don't know anything about things you haven't even experienced yet.

GThis is a great game but honestly, it's not worth the trouble right now. IMO everyone should hold off buying this for a few weeks and see what happens.

Oh, I am already waist deep in this game. It's really put some claws into me. However, the loot whore in me is leaning towards Diablo. While this game does have loot... It's not as loot whorey as I like.

That is ridiculously unlucky.

I've never heard of anyone in the US having serious, serious issues with being able to login and play Diablo III after the first 72 hours or so.

Yeah, people like that really turns you off on the game.

Screw it. Was able to make someone on Leviathan(NA), I'll just make another person on Ultros in the next 6 months or whenever that server is open again.

I Queue as a tank in Dungeon Finder with my roommate who plays WHM. If we ever get people like that, I tell them they may want to change that attitude and we drop.

This is a game. I want to have fun and dickish players impair my ability to have fun. I won't tolerate that shit. Not in a DF Group, and certainly not in my LS/FC.

I really dont like people like this. They all had their first time too...a week ago. Its like they suddenly become experts the moment they beat an area and lose all patience for anyone else who isnt on the same "level" as them.

Reminds me of my 2nd day playing FFXI PS2 version in the dunes when some cocky RDM joined our group and just had to let us know how good he was. Ended up barking orders and yelling at everyone until he left because we "werent listening to him".

So despite the horror stories I seem to be hearing in this thread, I still feel like I want to give this game a shot.

Am I correct in saying you can't buy this game digitally anywhere right now? Should I just wait or just order a disc copy?

It sucks that you're having so much trouble :\. If it's feasible, you might try logging in early tomorrow (like 6am) and see if it is available for character creation.

I'll agree. It got to the point where I'd use Diablo III as a glorified chat client. Things only got bad when I got into an Act proper.

This kind of behavior killed my mood for WoW several times...I hate it -_-;.

My server unfortunately has a lot of the elitist types on it.....I'm on Excalibur. -_-;.

My only real complaint about the actual game itself is that the map system is INCREDIBLY confusing, to me.

I never have any idea where I am and it's extremely difficult to tell which area leads into another, etc. I can't get any sense of bearing, more so than usual in any other MMO I've ever played.

If I had a rl friend to play with atm I totally would start doing this, though I've made it though all of the story missions. I'm excited to see the end game content, but I'm not looking forward to comments like this on my first runs of them and these kinds of comments.

It's getting better I was only told I suck twice yesterday and they only called me a **g once...

Worst I've seen so far was that I should give up and become a dps...from a WHM more focused on taking agro, doing damage to mobs, and jumping all over the place instead of actually healing. That was a fun day.

Those are the types of people I blacklist. I use my blacklist more as a reminder of who NOT to party with or help.

I wish you could do that with duty finder groups. Select to never group with that person ever again. Ever...

GAF groups > All

There is no guarantee they will allow transfers to servers with high populations. It's likely that you will only be allowed to transfer to low population servers at first.

I thought transfers were coming up soon? Is that just for legacy to legacy transfers?

Ah, those, yeah I've encountered healers like that before. It's kinda bizarre how people whom choose healing classes sometimes fail to realize that they aren't playing DPS.

Once again...

Bless you, Static Party. I know we'll need to pug people for Full Party stuff, but it's so good being with people who are on the same page as you are constantly. People like this just sap the enjoyment out of things. Games are supposed to be fun.

I haven't run into any people who throw a fit if people are new, but I wouldn't have much patience for that if I did. I guess I can afford to be pickier since I'm a healer. I just don't have any interest in spending 30-60+ minutes with people who aren't willing to at least attempt to work together.

I play with my wife, me as DPS her as healer. We found two people in our FC, tank and DPS, and we've just been doing all the stuff together as a static party.

I just don't trust PUGs anymore, especially cross-server where reputation doesn't follow.

Huh, my internet crapped out giving me a 90000 error, then not only did I get back in straight away, I still had my party spot.

Things are working right...somebody hold me.

I feel you there. I'm only level 16 but I'm not enjoying the loot/gear in the game much yet. All of my gear is from quest rewards (there are no drops unless I'm missing them in Fates or something). How does end-game gear/loot work exactly?

I see people saying this a lot but I dunno why unless it has to do with PS3 interface or something. The map is super easy to use and navigate with a mouse. Zonelines are links to the next map which makes it easy to see how areas connect. The only annoyance is you have to click the upper-left dropdown menu to zoom out to the region/world.

Wow, that's fucking ridiculous. Game has not been out nearly long enough to expect people to be seasoned vets. Glad I am a tank with my insta queues, I'd just leave and insta queue into another group not full of assholes.

People like those are kind of why I only really play with friends or go play alone.

What a bunch of crybabies. "UGHHHHHHH. SOMEONE ISNT AS EXPERIENCED AS I AM. FUCK MY LIFE. I HATE MYSELF. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHH."

Holy shit, how do those people socialize? Shit like that honestly kind of enrages me because it's like... holy shit. How much of a fucking condensing prick can they be? I remember my first experience with LoL being something along the lines of that, and I've stopped playing since then.

It's getting better I was only told I suck twice yesterday and they only called me a **g once...

I dunno why, but I feel like the combination of separating the Japanese and western players along with the move toward a WoW style game has greatly changed the tone of this game's playerbase compared to FFXI. In the 10 years of playing FFXI, I very very rarely got this kind of attitude. This kind of behavior makes me miss the old days of FFXI even more.

That's so weird. I actually prefer running with new people and always ask them how much the enjoyed the dungeon or particular fights. Longstop surprise is worth it every time!

My friends and I like to figure things out for ourselves when we do dungeons, so these people usually ruin our mood, we usually just drop, they don't really give a shit and will move on to their next group anyway.

I like running dungeons with new people rather than people who likes to nag and try to rush everything, assuming the new player isn't a jackass who tries to blame everything on others, I've seen quite a few of those.

My experience with the community has been pretty shit =D

I hope they improve the duty finder with more filters.

I think that's because FFXI was not a casual friendly MMO as you mentioned and word got around about the juvenile players.

Duty Finder is going to be a blessing and a curse I think.

FF11 just had a different kind of elitism, where if you didn't play the specific way the community dictated, you weren't welcome. Not necessarily insults, just no invites.

Yeah, if I really want to get story mission done and my friends aren't one I queue up, but otherwise I just handle solo stuff until the weekends. I have shout turned off so I don't have to hear screamed conversations, but I do kind of miss the party shouts and search comment style of XI.

With pet jobs like Arcanist, in dungeons and such, do you basically just let your pet do its own thing while you debuff, heal, etc? Coming from FFXI it just feels totally overwhelming micromanaging the pet (given the speed of combat) while also casting and making sure it's not doing anything stupid.

Yeah. I just really want to play. GAF guild will just have to wait. :P

Server transfers will be up before 6 months.

I'm sure not cheap too.

Ok I'm up in the game, Ayperos Ray if you want to add me, but I'm on Leviathan, so might not be able to do much.

Most of the casuals uninterested in improving their skills, will end up dropping off after the free period. A good portion of those that remain will eventually learn, assuming they stick around long enough.

You know, the school of hard knocks, and all that.

I've only had one terrible pug tank so far. He was new, but he started listening after we wiped a bunch of times. :P

Before that though, he was annoyingly silent and did not try to hold aggro at all. Thank god for Sleep.

I'm playing on PC. I just think the map layouts are pretty poorly designed, and the iconography is... I don't even know.
