Goddamn, didn't see the last panel in Infinity coming either. And they set up that one. Im awful at foreshadowing

They've shown it before. It's not sacrosanct or anything.

His origin was revealed by Kirby in the New Gods books, the story of Uxas and Izaya is nothing new. I just didn't like the changes they made to it, I thought they were unnecessary.

I'm ashamed to say I didn't know that.

His origin in JL23 seemed so pedestrian. Made him look like a thug with god-like powers instead of the root of all evil.

Yeah going from royalty who murdered his own brother to gain mastery of the Omega Effect to a
mortal farmer who just kinda gets fed up
was less than awe inspiring.

That sounds better, but I don't think giving Darkseid a clear origin is something that should be done.

Honestly, I like Morrison's version the best. He's a concept that's so above humans that it would be insulting to even try to explain his origin. He doesn't need one.

He always was and he always will be.

I'd agree that Morrison's conceptual approach is by far the most powerful but Kirby's Bible meets aliens is just awesome.

Speaking of Flash, is the N52 book a decent enough start for someone interested in him? I've gotten a bit of an itch since seeing the Flashpoint movie.

I know I'm super late on this, but Move Forward (the first Flash trade of the New 52) was the first Flash book I've ever read and I loved it. Great script and absolutely gorgeous art, and I didn't feel I had no idea what was going on. Looking forward to diving into the second trade which I got last week.

All this talk of Forever Evil and Battle Of The Atom and Infinity is getting me hyped. I spoiled BotA because I'm indifferent about Bendis' writing (although I love me some Immonen art) but damn, what an ending. Avoiding Infinity spoilers though because I plan on getting all of Hickman's NOW! work.

I have no issues with Morrison's interpretation at all, however I am a huge Kirby and Fourth World fanboy so I'm inclined to defer to his original concept for Darkseid.

Either way JL 23.1 was probably my most hyped Villains book and will end up as the biggest disappointment for me.

Did anyone get the Desaad book? I've heard they actually incorporated Kirby into the story as a character.

Superior Spider-Man spoilers:
So, did they shoehorn Horizon into the SM2099 canon or was this planned from way back? Also, was Stone from this era supposed to be this connected to 2099?

Slott probably planned it that way from jump. Apparently there was an issue of his Amazing run that had a piece of dialogue altered in the trade and subsequent printings of the issue because it spoiled this.

OH MAN

OH MAN

ALL-NEW X-MEN

FREAKING OUT

I AM FREAKING OUT HERE

FREAKING

OUT

lol, yeah, me too. So glad they did it, though.
I was surprised they waited so long to bring Jean back, and now in a relatively short span of time, THERE ARE TWO JEAN GREYS! YESSSSS

Infinity was really good, too. Maybe Marvel should have Hickman do their big events from now on. Bendis can't cut it anymore.

Rare or not....why would you pay that?

I could maybe, maybe see that kind of pricing if it was limited to like, one copy per state. But one copy per shop? Fuck that shit.

Fairly sure it was intended from the start. Tiberius Stone sounds very close to Tyler Stone. Horizon was also first introduced by Slott at the start of big time and Stone has had a somewhat prominent role since the start of Big TIme. Slott also wrote the Shattered Dimension game, which featured Miguel, but that's more of an aside.

Did anyone get the Desaad book? I've heard they actually incorporated Kirby into the story as a character.

Desaad visits an artist to manipulate him or whatever Desaad does and decides that the artist isn't ready and is stronger than he thought. It's been interpreted that this artist is Jack Kirby, although its not explicit at all.

Regardless of how the two New Gods books turned out, I'm always excited for a new gods story, so whats coming up in Earth 2/Batman and Superman/Worlds Finest has me excited.

Ive only read 2 of my books today, dentist fucked my face up with novacaine and all I felt like doing was to sleep through it.

Forever Evil looks to be anoher solid book. A great mystery lies ahead.

Superior Spiderman was good. I dont know much about 2099 but it looks interesting.

I thought it was pretty clear from the context and Marvel's apparent views on the character that
Lady Xorn is Teen Jean Grey if she stays in the present, not a resurrected adult Jean.
I guess I could be wrong, but I'd be surprised.

Bendis did write the 2 issues were also going over crazy today though

Shhhh!! Selective memory is the key.

That was my take on it as well. I mean, she looked about right age-wise for that scenario.

Battle of the Atom Spoilers (Don't read if you care about the x-over and don't want to be spoiled):

I take it that Lady Xorn Jean is the future version of the time displaced, teenaged Jean (who continued to live in the present for however many years in the future the Future X-Men are from), and not the one who died in Morrison's run.

EDIT: And Beaten :P

So unless I'm mistaken (which I very well may be), Forever Evil was the N52 debuts of not only
Professor Pyg
but the freaking
Royal Flush Gang
.

Pyg showed up in the first issue of Batman, didn't he?

Finch's awful art only enhances my enjoyment of FOREVER EVIL, which is awesome

I picked up Darkseid and Joker today because I only ordered Count Vertigo and Riddler on dcbs. Thinking about picking up some more 3d covers as they come out. Oh and my LCS sold out of these things Quick. Got the second to last Darkseid and last Joker. I think I might pick up the other Greg Pak issues.

Not sure, but while we're on the subject.
Is that Black Adam or corrupted Black Billy there?

Since he has a Villains Month book I'd say Adam, but they need to explain his whole coming back from the dead thing.
I swear I saw
Ragdoll
in one of the big villain shots.
