Yo, Andy Kubert's Joker issue has to be in the running for the worst comic I've ever read.

I've never read a more meandering, pointless, mischaracterized comic. Also, there is not a single fucking thing linking it to Forever Evil...

I can't believe he was allowed to write this as the Joker story and I feel dumb for having bought this piece of shit.

On the other hand, Geoff Johns writing The Rouges in Forever Evil made me incredibly happy. I love every time he include a close-up on Captain Cold's eyes through his glasses as he says something serious.

I just read the review. I felt douchechills as I read the Pitchfork-like attempt to convince me that this is an issue that is "equal parts emotionally harrowing and absolutely zany."

I can't imagine what IGN thought of Tony S. Daniel's run on Detective. I imagine a "Citizen Kane of comics" line or two tossed around.
 
So...I take it the Joker issue is totally skippable if I've been closely following Batman? I haven't bought it yet but I was planning to. I'd hate to toss four bucks at something this bad.

They slammed the Ventriloquist issue (hands down one of the best this week) for "not being the old Ventriloquist". Wat.

Interesting idea, usually these characters become villains. I wonder if she becomes a villain herself later in the story.

Maybe I'm off, but the review uses a lot of words to say nothing and is entirely pompous in its attempt to elevate dogshit into art.

I haven't read Pitchfork in a solid 5+ years, though, so maybe that shit is different now?

He likes Iron Man, Black Panther, and Namor. They were all Avengers.

Honestly, I think that he has a plan for whatever it is that has been going on in the last 19 issues of Avengers, we just haven't seen it yet. My guess is that the Avengers are going to become a Galaxy wide thing. There has been a constant theme of "getting bigger" since the book started and we have heard several mentions of Earth being the first of many Avengers worlds. I think the space subplot of Infinity is going to come down to the Avengers beating the Builders and issuing a sort of "The Galaxy is under out protection. Stay out" proclamation.
 
Two-Face is on da list :) Haven't bought it yet but looking forward to it. That creative team is killing it lately.

Edit: didn't realize March did the art but still very excited, preview pages look great.
 
Day 2: I never received my dcbs shipment despite Fedex Home Delivery saying it was delivered wednesday ( skeptical..). I don't know how much longer i can survive like this but to my fellow comics-gaf, i hope all your 3d comics become 2d.

That thing with Daisy and the SHIELD recruits, Ultimates, SHIELD, Avengers/infinity.

Every time I try I'm reminded of it just being more overarching grand conspiracy/design stuff.
 
For DC, I'm only reading Zero Year and Batman '66. I'm guessing that there are no villain tie-ins for '66, so are there any for Zero Year I should pick up?

I believe the only villain title Snyder is writing is the Riddler issue. Probably worth picking up.

I agree somewhat. I enjoyed his New Avengers stuff before it got all bogged down in Infinity. I was pretty ho-hum about his regular Avengers, and this event isn't my cup of tea.

So my question is, is Lemire's Green Arrow run worth looking into? Sorrentino's art looks gorgeous but I don't want another half-assed Jeff Lemire comic.

Cool--thanks! I've wanted to like Green Arrow for a while, but Quiver is the only story starring him that I've truly enjoyed.

Green Arrow has great art and a mediocre story.

Not a GA Year One fan?

I'll echo the sentiments that Lemire's run so far is good stuff. But to be fair it would have been hard for it to be worse than what came before him in the N52.
 
So I've read all my books for this week and my favourite is Mouse Guard Legends of the Guard vol 2 #2. I can't even with the amazing incredible gorgeous art on that book. Second favourite is the Battle of the Atom books. Those were way more fun than I though they would be.

I like Sheltered. There's something about it. I find it engaging. But holy crap with the logical fallacies and plot holes. They take me right out of it and issue #3 was the worst for this so far. It's one thing to have refrigerator questions* but another all together to be taken out of the fiction because what's happening doesn't jive.

Examples of what I'm talking about re: issue #3:

That girl who said that none of the kids even questioned Lucas about he plan to kill their parents. Say what? No one even questioned him? How? What? Huh?
How is it possible that Victoria wouldn't have figured that Haley had an infection from the broken ankle? Wouldn't she have to know that's why she's had a long-running fever to accompany her injury? Or maybe look in one of the first aid books that is surely laying around to figure out what could be going on? And then, you know, give her antibiotics?
Why on Earth would Lucas just confront Victoria? She was holding a gun! He could have backed out of the trailer, got a nearby friend to help him and tackle her. Or try to knock her out or something?
And I sure as shit hope no one believes Lucas' lies about the girls trying to steal. Why on earth would they do that when there are only two of them in a supply-loaded bunker?
How could Lucas, this brilliant planner manipulator, leave evidence of his burning the radios and phones out in the open like that!?

* I can't remember who, but I believe a moviemaker described refrigerator questions as the what-a-minute-that-doesn't-make-sense thoughts one has after they've watched a movie. So, you open the fridge after returning from the movies and suddenly you're like, what a minute, how did the guy know which wire to cut when earlier he'd said whatever whatever. While they watched it it didn't occur to them because they were so immersed. This moviemaker's point was that those later questions don't matter. It's the questions that challenge your suspension of disbelief as you're taking in the fiction that weakens the experience.

Damn. That's one of the villain books I skipped out on this last Wednesday. I wonder if my LCS still have it. :(

I actually haven't read that. I'm not well versed in Green Arrow so I'm trying to get into him more. I read Quiver a while back, really loved everything about it, and then tried picking up the odd GA issue only to be left disappointed.

I'mma go check out the Lemire issues and Year One. I heard Longbow Hunters is good too, so I'll add that in.

Longbow Hunters is really good, yeah. My favorite of the "modern" stuff is Year One though, really can't go wrong with Diggle and Jock, but I'll always have a soft spot for Denny O'Neill's Green Lantern/Green Arrow run. The "my ward is a junkie!" cover has kind of devolved into a joke, but that was pretty heavy stuff for the era it was written in.

Speaking of Denny O'Neil, I just started his Wonder Woman run on my lunch break today, Diana gives up her powers to stay in the world of man to help Steve Trevor (who was a total d-bag). She learns martial arts with I-Ching and I think eventually runs a clothing boutique. I wish Satch was still around to talk about it with when I finish it.

If you liked quiver, I suggest reading The Archer's Quest by Brad Metzer. It was the run immediately following Smith's and carried along in the same vein. Even Winick's run was pretty good at the start. And then got super shitty.

I didn't really like Year One at the time, it was a bit hollow IMO, and super predictable (plus kinda racist asian female villain China White *gak*). And call me a sucker, but the wedding between Ollie and Dinah, and then the first 6 issues of the GA/Black Canary series were great with some of Cliff Chiang's best art ever. He draws purdy ladies.

I thought Marvel recently said they'd love to do a female superhero movie but it would be quite awhile before it happened. I don't see Captain Marvel making it before the already announced movie dates through 2017. Could maybe be a cameo, but I'm not sure where she'd fit.

DC should be all over this. If a Wonder Woman movie found an audience it could lead to other female superhero movies like Batgirl, Supergirl etc.

Have you read The Longbow Hunters? I'm going to assume you haven't because that would mean you didn't enjoy it and The Longbow Hunters is the shit.
 
I am kind of conflicted, I have this Batwoman vol 2 sitting here but I kind of feel I should just not read it given all the shit that went down after it. Such a shitty situation those people are in, it is such a great series/character/art also.
