Yeah, I had just updated my post since I read more carefully. Still going to be amazing, more sci-fi Cap and Bucky adventures is all I need for a good time.

For sure. I'm just happy to have Bucky back. Definitely going to be a departure from Brubaker (or Latour) with Robinson writing, but it's good to have him in rotation, keep the character relevant.

EDIT: While I knew he was back, I haven't actually read anything with the original human torch in it since the last new invaders series haha, I liked that book. Not amazing, but I liked it.

I'm really glad Invaders isn't set in WW2, i might wait for it to hit Marvel Unlimited since i'm already buying too many books, but i can do without more books about cap fighting nazis.

Just want to post the other covers, I am Hyped.

So, the One question I have about All-New Invaders is how they're gonna deal with what happened at the end of Remender's Secret Avengers run? Like, I don't really think Hammond is up to actually being the Torch, right now either because he's broken or because humanity rejected him or something IT'S BEEN A WHILE OKAY.

Ive never experienced this so I ask, what happens to comic release days when there is a holiday on Wednesday?

Delayed a day usually. Most shops pick up their books (or have them delivered) on Tuesday.

My LCD drives to the Diamond distribution center every Tuesday to make sure they get all their order. When they do midnight releases they let people pick up their books then.

How do I best go about catching up for I can get into event books like Infinity and Zero Year. I have no idea what books I need to read or what...its all so confusing.

For Infinity it was started all the way back at Avengers #1. You can get the collected Avengers trades, and that leads directly into Infinity.

Just read Batman for Zero Year, it started in issue 21 I think. The tie in books are in November but should have zero impact on Bruce's story.

Get what ever Tie ins you want. Im probably only going to get the ones I already pull. Im excited for Green Arrow, Catwoman, and a few others.

You are still reading Catwoman? How is that? I read the first trade and thought it was alright but never picked up the 2nd one.

Edit: I also put I Kill Giants and Blankets in my amazon cart. You guys better be right about their quality :P.

Warren Ellis' Thunderbolts is on sale at comixology, issues 110-121, his full run on the title, definitely something worth buying

I recently read the Ultimate Collection and I really enjoyed it. I was a bit iffy on Deodato's art; I'm not sure if he's legitimately improved since or if it was Rain Beredo's colours putting me off, but his work on Hickman's New Avengers looks so much better. That said I like his panel layouts and there were some genuinely great moments. I liked how he drew Penance's energy blasts and his Venom was nice and creepy. Shame about the way he draws women though. Great work from Ellis as usual.

Ribic's Avengers cover is gorgeous as expected.

Is everyone here up to date on Chew? I finished Volume 7, Bad Apples, over the weekend and it was so good.

Some thoughts:
I'd already been spoiled about Toni thanks to CBR splashing it across their front page, but I still really liked the ending.

I liked that it felt like quite a personal story, a lot of focus on Tony and his increasing badassness. A surprising amount of murdering on his part.

Is it just me or were there a lot of powers introduced in this story arc? There was that page with like 6 new powers by itself. I loved the guitar-string-noodle guy! Such a rubbish power. Glad to see Layman still has plenty of ideas for this crazy little world.

Rob's background jokes were so funny. The Kirkman poster in the gym was great, and then I spotted the poster of Arnie from Kindergarten Cop and Tim Curry from Home Alone 2 and I was cracking up.

I think the panel of Senator Eccles in his seedy hotel room, chicken leg for a head, in his vest and pants, indulging in a little forbidden fowl, has to be one of Rob's best panels. Absolutely hilarious.

I really liked the way they staged the funeral with the flashback to the funeral of Tony's first wife, with differences both subtle (Tony looking slightly younger, longer hair, etc.) and not subtle (everything about Colby; seriously, that hair...)

The Poyo vs Pengthulu double splash page was so good! I loved the fake-out, with Tony (and me...) thinking Poyo was in the crate waiting to be unleashed. Great stuff.

Slightly off topic but does anyone have any comic book podcast recommendations? Looking to update the casts I currently subscribe to, thanks.

The Comic Conspiracy's hosts talk about relevant news and opinions on topics. And I know at least one of them is the owner of a comic books shop.

Death of Comics is a fantastic bro-centric podcasts where they discuss community feedback and like going into several tangents about random stuff.

And Cape Crisis is a personal favorite of mine that's hosted by people who are/were video game journalists. The main host, Henry Gilbert, likes discussing relevant news on comics related topics he doesn't talk about on other podcasts in the Laser Time network. And it's funny as heck.

The best part of DC's December solicits--Vibe survives another month without cancellation!

David Mack put this on FB. Said its a cover for Justice League

I'm about 95% certain that was a variant for the last JLA series before the N52, either the last or second to last issue.

guys why are we talking about the bad things when Marvel just announced this:
ROBINSON INVADERS ONGOING. (Oh and also some kind of wave 2 of Marvel Now!)

wow, did they grab Steve Pugh as well? Has he been off Animal Man for a while? I dropped it a long long time ago.

So
Stephanie Brown
it is then!
ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
you're probably totally right
Preview: Detective Comics: Harley Quinn #23.2

So uh, this actually looks kind of cool? Art is by Neil Googe. Never seen his work before but he seems to have some really interest range; Adorable young Harleen and creepy ass Joker.

Looks like it has potential.
He did a pretty good two issue arc of Legends of the Dark Knight with Jim Zub featuring Harley Quinn. It's pure classic Harley, including the costume. I guess it's collected here:

Yeah, I don't know about that. I haven't seen her in much outside of Juno and the X-Men films, but for Chace I expected someone more hard-edged... and British.

David Mack put this on FB. Said its a cover for Justice League.

I see Jade, Donna Troy, Supergirl in her old costume, Congo Bill, Starman, and... Manhunter, maybe? I'm guessing that's pre-reboot work.

I have faith Robinson will do Bucky justice, I'm open to every writer though as long as they understand how to move forward without ruining the essence of the character. I hope he does some callbacks to the Bucky/Widow relationship though, I'd love to see Steve try to help his best friend through that crap (maybe Winter Soldier can score an alien babe).

I know James is considered a solid writer despite a few missteps with fans, though Brubaker had a few horrible arcs in Cap after the relaunch and the terrible one in Winter Soldier that almost made me hate him, so it happens to every person in the business. I think he'll rock this book especially since he's currently only dealing with a main cast of 4. And to whoever in this thread said Cap's armor is dumb: it's a hell of a lot better than long gloves and pirate boots, I'm a massive fan but I don't miss the old look one bit.

It was a really good arc, one of the best. Showed a lot of growth for Tony and changed the status quo of the story and characters up.

The new powers we got to see were really great, Layman continues to prove that this universe is one of the most creative and original in comics. Rob is just perfect for this book, you're so right about the panel with the Senator in his hotel room being great. Rob kills it again and again. The Kirkman posters had me laughing out loud when I saw them.

I have issue 36 during here waiting to get read, 35 left a lot of crazy stuff up in the air. What will Violet get from tasting that toe, why the hell is that toe even there, and what's going to happen with Savoy now that he's caught?

Yeah that second arc Bru did in Winter Soldier just wasn't good. I was way more into the fucking craziness and Doominess of the first arc. But then Latour and Klein came in and made that book kick ass again.

Yep, Doom seriously kicked ass in the book, I wish he would have stuck around longer. Michael Lark was awesome on the follow-up arc he did with Bru though, he drew that chase scene to perfection. And Latour is welcome to the Cap cast anytime in my book.

By the way, did you read Klein's issue of Thor #12? He ripped it up as usual, dude needs way more work than Greg Fucking Land gets.

Read the first two issues of Morning Glories, no idea what the hell is going on and not really sure if I like it. The art is good in most places.

A lot of people who have read the full run up till now have the exact same judgment.

Yeah, agreed. It was nice to see him take charge of things, I feel he's been a bit passive and reactive in the past. Definitely excited to see where the story goes next. With the way it ended, I feel there's a lot of potential for some really interesting plot points.

I think the success and popularity of Chew shows how effective a proper partnership can be. When you look at the Big Two's policies, with a different artist every like 4 issues, it can kill the flow. I love that Chew is made by just two people (for the most part, excepting colouring assists, etc.) They work so well together, and this weird and fantastic little world they've created is testament to that. The little details scattered throughout and the background jokes, everything is so good.

I have issue 36 during here waiting to get read, 35 left a lot of crazy stuff up in the air. What will Violet get from tasting that toe, why the hell is that toe even there, and what's going to happen with Savoy now that he's caught?

So many questions! I won't be able to read anymore for a while because I'm a trade-waiter, but I'm really excited to find out the answers. Big status quo changes are a-coming, that's for sure.

JEFF PARKER AQUAMAN

Written by Jeff Parker, art and cover by Paul Pelletier and Sean Parsons.

"Sea of Storms" begins with the debut of new Aquaman writer Jeff Parker! The Earth's crust is grinding to life, releasing deadly volcanoes and bizarre creatures...so humanity's first instinct is to blame Atlantis! And as the plates pull apart, the pressures of ruling a kingdom under siege are weighing on Aquaman and Mera as well!

40 pages, $3.99, in stores on Dec. 31.

ALRIGHT PEACE

I'm probably bailing on Aquaman and letting Black Science or something take its place on my monthly buying. Jeff Parker is okay, but i'm not that into Aquaman now and that switch isn't going to keep me. Plus i hear Mera and Aquaman aren't married, they are swimming in sin.

EDIT: BEATEN, DC YOU NAREZ.

Jeff Parker has been doing great stuff in Batman '66.

Edit Edit: Dat $3.99 price point.

Yeah but it's a 40-pager so it works out? Won't help with the money troubles though because WE'VE GOT SOME LISTS Y'ALL:

JUSTICE LEAGUE #23.2: LOBO (Because fuck you it's gonna rule. Probably. I hope. I think it's likely. Maybe. Possibly.)
AQUAMAN #23.1: BLACK MANTA
AQUAMAN #23.2: OCEAN MASTER (I LIKE JOHNS' AQUAMAN RUN OKAY)
THE FLASH #23.2: REVERSE-FLASH
ACTION COMICS #23.2: ZOD (Okay the Pak Darkseid issue wasn't so hot but he's gonna take over Action Comics so this is bound to work right?)
BATMAN #23.2: THE RIDDLER
DETECTIVE COMICS #23.2: HARLEY QUINN (From that preview it seems Kindt thinks of Harley the same way I do and that's cool)
ASTRO CITY #4
COLLIDER #3

MANHATTAN PROJECTS #14

AVENGERS #19
CAPTAIN AMERICA #11
DEADPOOL #16
FANTASTIC FOUR #12 (First issue where Fraction's not writing dialogue I'm bracing for something?)
INDESTRUCTIBLE HULK #13
UNCANNY X-FORCE #11 (I still enjoy it okay)
WOLVERINE #9
X-MEN #5 (BATTLE OF THE ATOM IS SO TRILL? IS THAT GOOD USE OF VERNACULAR?)

ARCHER & ARMSTRONG #13

Jeff Parker is an interesting choice. He's been working at Marvel on their C list heroes/villains for too long, it's good he got a break he deserves.
