Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

Tell me more about all the Star Fox games that you don't play as Fox.

Tell me about the Fire Emblem character that has been in two Smash games, the biggest selling entry in the Fire Emblem series, the most popular character in Japan, the first lord, and generally considered the face of the franchise.

Tell me about the only Fire Emblem character that has been in two Smash games, the biggest selling entry in the Fire Emblem series, the most popular character in Japan, the first lord, and generally considered the face of the franchise.

Awakening is the best selling entry in the series now. The point is he isn't really relevant anymore.

Star Fox has effectively been dead for over a decade now while Fire Emblem has been making huge strides outside of Japan. I say this as a bigger fan of the former too, unless you're talking fanbase/nostalgia/pop-cultural relevancy.

literally untrue as a starfox game (albeit a remake) was released just 3 years ago, dont make me bust out my starfox knowledge

He's the biggest part of that franchise's history, and still referenced heavily in Awakening and has had a couple remakes recently as well. Seems relevant enough to me, more relevant than Lucina IMO.

Do you have the numbers? All of the other characters have catching up to do, Marth has been in four games, five counting the Awakening DLC, which is the most appearances out of any Fire Emblem character. And how can you say he isn't relevant when the latest game uses his legend as a pivotal plot point?

Whoa. That would be a completely awesome moveset.

B:
Shoot Freeze Gun
Side-B:
Close Doors
Up-B:
Levitate using Computer/Gravity Powers
Down-B:
Removing Freezing

Final Smash:
Activate Metal Sphere Bug Monsters

Don't forget
make hair pins fly off peoples heads
That'll piss some people off.

Why do people think Ike is getting cut? The only non-clone to get cut ever was Mewtwo and that seems to be because Lucario was the current pokemon GF was promoting

Everyone Monologues until the game is reset.

A remake which sold vastly less than its original and three terrible to mediocre games five years earlier really don't compare favorable to Fire Emblem at all.

@Smith: Let's just that that doesn't come to pass because this move benefits almost no one.

Marth and semi-clone Chrom would be the worst possible situation. It would showcase the stereotype that only the first and latest lord matter and would continue a harmful pattern in which the latest lord is dumped after a game for not being "recent". It would also show that Chrom did not get in on his own merits, but had to take Ike's spot in order to get in. If that's the best Sakurai can come up for Chrom, then I don't want Chrom anywhere near the roster. Chrom being a semi-clone replacement of Ike would also contradict Sakurai trying to make each character distinct, which he seems to be focusing especially hard on this game.

If Chrom gets in, it should not be as a semi-clone replacement of Ike, but to co-exist with him and to be distinct from Marth and Ike.

Like this?

I do agree that it's obvious
Tharja
will replace Marth in SSB4 while Star Fox will inexplicably get
Tricky
regardless of franchise importance either way.

Since Mewtwo was planned to return in Brawl, it was most likely due to time constraints, not because Mewtwo was going to be replaced.

But yeah, I highly doubt Ike is going anywhere.

Ganondorf will be replaced by
Demise
and Yoshi is being switched with
Nabbit
. Because recent and stuff. Out with the old and in with the new hotness that will freeze over in a year.

Embrace the madness. It alleviates the pain.

Sold less yes, but there are several factors of why it did, but it did not sell badly either, and 2 good games and one medicore game, even with this, it still has sold more than awakening that has had one breakout success, hell ike being in brawl didnt help it from having one of the worse selling fire emblems in the series. Hell, fire emblem wasent even going to continue if awakening wasent so successful, unlike nintendo that just put starfox on the backburner, they outright said they were done with the series after awakening, which even effected the design choices for FE:A

Oh yes I know! I had it into my head to explain that and add that to Lucario being the pokemon GF was pushing

I usually have all my ideas together when I go to type but rarely remember to type them all...

It really is crazy how mewtwo didnt make it in due to time constraints and was planned all along, sakurai def wouldnt cut a original character like that, by original i mean moveset, nobody really has mewtwo's moveset

And there is nothing wrong with Mewtwo that can't be easily fixed. Just buff the beast.

With only the newest one being a huge hit selling about a million. Star Fox on the other hand has titles that have sold 3-5 million.
I'm not denying that Star Fox wasn't big before, but that can hardly be said now. You can't just coast off past glories to be considered 'big' (relative to the other Nintendo backburners) and relevant, Star Fox hasn't seen an actual new title in close to a decade. As of this moment, FE is bigger than SF. That might change one day, but I'd be hard-pressed to consider it bigger than FE, which is enjoying a pretty major second wind right now.

Moonlight!! Haven't seen you in forever, still rockin' that avatar.
Heyooo. Mostly popping my head around Community these days. And yeah, don't really have the heart to change it now. :P

(but to make this somewhat relevant to the overall discussion, #AnnaForSSB)

When are we getting a new direct? I find it weird that we have no direct.

We're not necessarily due one 'til next month since the last "proper", non-game-specific direct was just last month. The Wii U Preview was on 13/9 last year though, so I guess something could spring up to align with TGS.

Do we have a Mario Galaxy spotting?

Looks really nice. The only thing I can think of is it's a shot of Battlefield at night. Other than that, it's gotta be a new stage. either Mario Galaxy or maybe the pirate ship from Uprising.

I'm gonna guess it's either Super Mario Galaxy or Star Fox themed. Don't see why Skyloft/Star Fox/Wuhu Island would have such a detailed starscape otherwise.

It could be a moment during a really long drive in the brand spanking new Vs. Ladies Golf stage.
