Beyond: Two Souls- demo impressions - now publicly available

Also here are some of the big things you can interact with during the final sequence of the demo causing a lot of destruction:

-Crush the clock tower
-Create a spark causing the gas station to explode
-Possess the SWAT truck drivers and ram into buildings

woah EmptySpace only interacted with

the pilot of the chopper and crashed it

Game looks amazing; can't wait.

For those who aren't watching because of spoilers, the only parts the demo included are the
test with Jodie as a child, a tutorial on fighting, and the train scene.

All have been shown on multiple occasions in other official demos, so I didn't feel as though it ruined the actual game for me.

-Crush the clock tower

-Possess the SWAT snipers
-Possess the SWAT truck drivers and ram into buildings

You can also
possess a soldier who will throw a grenade and ignite gas station

Here is the control scheme for people that are interested:

The quick turn and the ability to move up and down directly with a button press is very useful to get around quickly with Aiden.

Also keep in mind that if you want to interact with a living being (red=choke, yellow=possess, protect Jodie etc.) always move the two sticks inwards/outwards. If you want to interact with an object, pull them back and release. You can also adjust the sensitivity in the options.

Yep. Or leak the gas and then shoot into it with a soldier. It's awesome how many alternatives there are.

Really amazing, basically the next gen of cinematic adventure games.
Almost next gen graphics and controls are great, commands flow without hesitation while the action is really dynamic.
I was really impressed by the commands during the fights or while Jodie is escaping through the forest, the game slow downs a bit to let you understand that it's time to give an input but that wouldn't even be necessary, you just have to do with the analog stick the movement that is natural to do based on what you're seeing on the screen. It feels really natural.
Of course Aiden adds a whole level of depth to the whole thing (during the ending you can choose many different approaches to get rid of soldiers).
Still this is an adventure game, comparisons to action games are pointless. But to me it feels a whole generation ahead compared to Heavy Rain.

Wow. I finally got to try out the demo and I came away impressed. I haven't been hyped after watching the video previews, but seeing the game first-hand changed my mind. Unfortunately, the demo crashed on me during the train section when the cops are after you. Also, baby Page creeps me out.

I just purposely failed every sequence during "hunted" wow. Different scenes man, especially the last part. Everyone should go and try it now. I'm not spoiling it for you guys.

Day 1

my god dude, im gonna tell you something, this game creep me the fuck out, i played the demo on the experiment part, WOW, i have never felt like this playing a game, this went from not on my list to day one

wow, sounds great everyone, really wanted to wait on this one due to backlog but I might have to day one it, curse you all.

Arghhhhh, everyone loves the demo and I've got to twiddle my thumbs and play the waiting game. Remind me, when do PS plussers get to download it again? Next week's store update right?

why don't you do the Facebook thing, i did it like 10 minutes ago and got my code right away

Wow that was a very fun demo. One thing that impressed me the most is the graphics.. still can't believe it's running off of a 6yr old hardware. I told myself gta would b my last game to get from this generation but that changed now. Day 1

Shit, I'm going to have to buy this. :-\ Too many games, too little time. :(

Impressions sound amazing, though. Can you listen to the characters' thoughts like in Heavy Rain? Also, it sounds like screen-tearing has been fixed? Screen-tearing and controls were my only concerns from past impressions, but it sounds like they've both been fixed rather handsomely.

Well, I guess I also have some reservations about the dialogue, but the hour they showed at the Tribeca Film Festival or whatever was actually fairly decent and well-paced, so perhaps it'll work out after all. Heavy Rain, for all of its cheese, was still a nail-biter that compelled me to keep playing, with a lot of scenes I revisited for fun after the fact.

Goddamn I'm feeling the hype! I'd download the demo but too busy with GTAV, and TW101 and Rayman are still in their shrink-wrap!

Good to hear these positive impressions, my special edition pre-order is safe. Don't think I'll download the demo, not wanting to spoil a part of the game, and what is a week or two.

There are way worse posts on GAF than his. Is it so wrong for him to want to play a game because it's a game?

Nobody cares about the opinion of random Internet kids who think they possess the universal definition of what a game should be.

Get off your high horse and let people enjoy their game.

Screen-tearing is 100% fixed. There is 0. Framerate is steady too. Controls are great and fluid if you take 10 minutes to learn them. Character thoughts are gone, they felt it was too heavy handed (and it created a million plot holes). Aiden and Jodie can directly talk to each other (although you can't understand Aiden's language), so hints or the character feelings are directly communicated.

Should be out today actually (in the UK tomorrow). One week before public demo.

Oh man, the more I read your guys' impressions, the more hype I get. What's in the special edition? Maybe I should preorder after all. Damn September and October are crazy...

Just finished the demo, was a bit "WTF" at the controls at times but I gotta say I really enjoyed it, I liked Heavy Rain and I like this better for its atmosphere/look and holy shit at the forest scene visuals!!

Day one

Watched the demo on youtube, looked pretty cool. I hope the controls aren't an impediment to enjoying the game, I'll buy it if the reviews are solid

I'm not on Facebook or Twitter, but I have a dummy account for both for occasions like this. Too many things are locked behind those.

Figured I'd give the demo a shot. I'm impressed. The trailer at the end was an excellent tease too.

The increased use of the analog sticks over Heavy Rain is a big plus. Character models are stunning and the environments generally look very nice (some more than others). Reading through the posts here I see I missed plenty of interaction opportunities. Stepping away I figured this game would have zero replay potential but I may be wrong.

Don't know about Day 1 but I went from:

"I liked Heavy Rain but I'm not interested in doing it again."
to
"Definitely something I want to play through!"

There were definite framerate drops in the wooded area but not too much and not too noticeable considering how dark everything is. One thing I noticed is a lot of shimmering caused by whatever AA they are using. Kind of like the AA used in Uncharted 3 or the MLAA in Killzone 3.

Beyond Two Souls Demo Gameplay Part 1 - The Experiment.

If you haven't played the demo and just want to see what the game offers. Will have the second act coming soon.
Man this constantly reminds me how awesome the sound design is when controlling Aiden. So creepy.

Really?! Ah, dEvAnGeL, don't worry about getting a code for me man, I'll just wait tomorrow. Thanks anyway.
I'm not 100% positive, but it should be like that. The public demo comes out on October 2nd in the UK. So PS+ should be tomorrow/today or it makes no sense.

Hmm, I went and looked it up and it looks like the 30-minute extra scene is only available through Gamestop? I guess I should preorder there. Hopefully the reviews are good.

Glad I shared that Facebook thing since so many people seem to be turned onto the game from the demo. It's always great to see people support different styles of games so we don't keep getting the same crap.
