Think i just found the reason i was having such trouble with picking up garuda adds. Was geting bashed due to losing agro to healers. Went with SCH healer setup and it was jokes.

I was with another WHM doing Praetorium (sp?) and he was constantly using Medica 2, which gave him so much aggro the bosses would start chasing him all over the place, and he was getting pissy with the tanks. Was kinda amusing.

anyone here playing more than one character to max level? or is everyone going with just one?

Planning on leveling a few, depending on how painful only grinding fates is. I haven't been able to fate grind on my main at all, just because it's so mind numbing. Maybe the +50% fate exp bonus will help a little :p

Half my groups or more are me with 3 Miqo'te females.

and they all look the same.

true

I'm starting to see the elusive male miqo'tes!

false

it's monotonous but it's fast and if you get excited watching bars fill then you'll have a lot of fun

It's not slow, but I'd rather do dungeons honestly. The +50% kill exp bonus is huge in dungeons!

Too bad queuing as a dps takes so long, I was silly to level a tank as my first class - should've just gone as a dps first, and then grinded dungeons on a tank as a second class :p

Hmmm, what to do today. Hunting log or continue story. I have a bunch in hunting log, should be easier to get to now that I have a chocobo.

I have two 50s (1 is from 1.0). I wanted to level MNK to 50 now, but honestly, seeing how gearing a single job for endgame is a huge, tedious and boring grind, I dont even feel to level another job.

It doesnt help that every DPS needs a different Darklight set. I dont get that. They could have done a set for every role, but instead splitted the DPS roles into 3 different DL sets.

Ill probably level up more jobs once Crystal Tower is implemented and the grind for endgame gear isnt as shit as it is now.

You have difficulty tanking Garuda and Titan HM in full DL?

Garuda you can manage in case you got a good healer but still really put unwanted stress on the party with anything can go wrong in any second, But titan will be tearing you like piece of thin paper, healer will be in a panic mood spam healing you just to keep you above 50%.
you can take a look at fight on youtube with war tanking that required 3 healers in the party and it was close call most of the time with the healers having a very high aggro, simply yes you can make it work but it will require ALOT of effort from you and the healers with really big chance of everything going down the drain in any moment.

What should I be doing after getting ifrit HM weapon? Farming tomes?? I'm still in AF armor..

Ignore what some people say - you're fine to run AK to upgrade your AF gear. You could do Wanderer's Palace which upgrades it slightly, but eh. I don't think that's required. You could run AK and Prae some to get tomes, though.

Yeah, go to AK to upgrade your AF. While you're farming up tomes you'll have plenty of chances to grab the lv50 AK gear which is a nice upgrade in between AF and DL.

Working on my last couple of bits of DL before i head into Titan HM, will have enough myth tombs to +1 my sword and shield instantly by the time i get to that point though lol already got 600 saved

Was able to clear HM Garuda in a DF PUG last night.

First group fell apart in P2. Second group fell apart in P3. Third group one shot the thing. GG.

From everything that I've seen and read, it looks like groups for HM Titan use only one tank. Is full Darklight required? I'm so far away from that, I'm not sure when I'd be able to do it. :<

I see a lot of people saving myth tomes for weapon +1.

Are all of these people ready to go with coil groups or something?

There is nothing in between Titan and coil right?

Seems like it would be better to get some myth gear to increase chances of beating Titan?

I wouldn't say you need af+1 for titan. My group was in half DL with Ifrit weapons we we took him down and people now are probably better geared than we were.

In between Titan and Coil you have about 50 runs of AK/CM. : /

I tanked Titan up to 20% with little problems and Garuda is a piece of cake.

Not saying that you need it. I'm just saying for 99% of people Titan is the hardest content available. Coil seems out of reach to people without 8 geared members in an fc(something my fc lacks).

If this is the case, then there is no point in saving for weapon +1 because once you have, you have beaten all the content.

Your going to be waiting for your fc/trying to find a new one ect.

So why not "waste" your myth on increasing the chance to beat Titan?

Also, can you duty finder coil lol?

All this endgame stuff sounds so out of reach... Can the story content be enjoyed without running against a wall of endless gear upgrading?

The story comes to a conclusion in dungeons that can be beaten in level 40 gear. However there is kinda a cliffhanger, and the story continues in the coil of bahamut, an out of reach dungeon to many.

So yes, you can enjoy the story without grinding.

welcome to mmos!

well, you could just work on leveling your other classes as each has its own story... but the content there is not compelling enough warrant leveling more than a few classes IMO.

With patch 2.1 you can also work on your house and outfitting it, but we don't know much about the content associated with that.

One thing to note: As harder content is introduced, the devs are adding in ways to make currently existing end game things easier, so that as time goes on, the hard core get to experience new things, and the rest can slowly experience end game things.

I'm doing OK so far with what I've gotten from quests, I'm a level 18 conjurer (also picked up a few tradecraft/fieldcraft classes too).

If Titan HM is anything to go by, they should reconsider adding any remotly hard content to the duty finder.
I don't think so. Instead, I think they should give the leader more control over desired jobs in the Duty Finder. That, paired with the gear check thing that's coming soon, would make hard content Duty Finderable just fine, I think.

It would be great if they added an option to invite people to a duty from your FC or friend list when someone drops.

YoshiP said Coil wouldn't be on duty finder. He wants people to shout on their server and find groups for it. Crystal Tower on the other hand will be on Duty Finder.

There's going to be an actual gear check option in the game? That's crap. Bad enough people do it themselves now, don't make it easier for them.

No, wouldn't really make sense either (but maybe they will add in 2.1.

Didn't the last interview with Yoshi say that they left Coil out of DF on purpose? They wanted people to build in a community on their servers and expect ppl to go with friends and FC groups

The game is designed such that certain gear is expected for certain things. You simply can't beat Titan unless you have enough DPS output. It'll never happen. So that's why they're adding a gearcheck for Titan. I don't think they're doing it for anything earlier than that.

People do it because you need good gears to do things. It isn't a pure skill game, it's an rpg, stats matter. Titan requires a certain number of HP and DPS to survive, Garuda can be done with low gears, but the difference between a party in AF and a party with good gears and a strong DPS is immense.

I mean, I'm totally with you about unrealistic gear expectations, but I don't think the devs will impose anything like that. Like full darklight to run AK, or something stupid.

I doubt they are going to make so that you need DL for AK or something like that, most likely this will prevent ppl to join AK (A level 60 dungeon) with full AF and level 30 items.

There's nothing wrong with doing AK in AF though. At all.
AK provides gear upgrades to AF. And you get tomes to upgrade further.

Has anyone else experienced any serious repel lag on Demon Wall during AK? Ran it late last night and during the first repel we were grouped, everyone got pushed back but me. I found it a bit odd, but brushed it off. About 1.5-2 seconds after the initial repel as I was moving back to the left, I get hit with repel and pushed off.

I have never ever seen anything like that and it kind of pissed me off there was such a delay. Now I know not the move if I don't get hit with repel, but it seemed like I was punished for knowing the mechanics of the fight thanks to the crazy delay in an ability going off.

I think the level 30 items are the bit in question. You can run AK fresh out of Praetoreum, but you need to make sure you at least have some green accessories. This shouldn't be hard if you pick some up from the GC. I did that to help fill out my gear and it helped.

Ya, it will probably low ball it if anything, like no level 40 and below gear to run AK.

Some pieces of AF? Aye. But I exact the DPS to have some pieces from the Palace, some decent jewelry 45+, and 1 piece of DL got with the tomes from the story at least. You could do it with less of course, but I don't enjoy carrying people.

I mean, The Wanderer Palace exists for a reason.

The last few AK runs I did, I noticed the odd Repel or so that didn't push me anywhere. Kinda nice but that sucks that it eventually got you off the platform.

I've got a question that I'm not sure anyone knows the answer to because its a super edge case, but I'll ask anyway:

In 1.x, I almost got the last rank in my GC (Twin Adders.) I bought the Emerald Bough item for 25,000 seals that would let me do a quest to get my last promotion. Unfortunately, I never did the quest before the game was shut down. So I've still got the Emerald Bough (which apparently I can use as a consumable item?), but I assume the process for getting the last promotion is now different, and probably doesn't use that item anymore. Did I waste all those seals, or can I somehow use the Emerald Bough towards that promotion?

I haven't finished the story yet, so I can't yet see for myself what exactly is required for the last promotion.

I skipped WP at first, personally. But then I'm not a DPS.
I really hate WP. I don't wish it on anyone. And I've healed DPS who had AF and a level 50 weapon in AK and it worked out ok. Obviously things can get close, but limit breaking one of the bees helps a ton.

I've seen some tanks not get hit with repel before and not moved. Thought it was similar to that until after the delay.

I have yet to do WP, but I'm also a healer and skipped straight to AK. You're pretty much fine as long as the group understands the mechanics. Extra dps is nice during the first fight and on the gnats/bees during demon wall, but fresh groups can make it through as well.

Yesterday was the first time Duty > Recommendations mentioned Hunting Logs that needed to be completed in the area that I was in. I thought that was neat, but I don't think I've seen that pop up before about HLs.
