BTW.

My battle plan as of now is...

Go home, do the Relic Reborn side-quest, do the Aurum Vale and Wanderers Palace Dungeon, beat end end-game, then take a Week off to play Wind Waker.

I hate to take time off since I'm enjoying this game so much, but, I want to stretch out that content until 2.1 hits.

I try to stay within my linkshell or freecompany when I do 4 man dungeons less loot fighting that way. Plus my linkshell is pretty tolerant of mistakes. About to hit 50 with my first job (CNJ/WHM). I'm on Sargatanas. Phoenix Piras one of the elusive male Mi'qote

Actually need to do Aurum Vale myself. If you're on ultros and doing it on 2 hours from now, I'd like to join you~

First.

As far as I know, fetch and travel quests are a genre standard. I may not have played an MMO before, but I hear WoW, Rift, and GW2 players complain about them frequently. It seems nobody has figured out a reasonable alternative yet, until they do that's simply apart of the genre.

Second, Fates aren't boring, they've been some of the most exciting moments in the game so far.

Third, I've never waited an hour for the DF to match me up, so automatically that statement strikes me as hyperbole. Second, there's nothing Square or any other developer can do to keep players from logging out if they're throwing a temper tantrum, nor is there a way to really, "force," players to play Tank's, which is the only real way to shorten DF wait times.

Also, since you alluded to this. You do, "NOT," need to Grind Fates to get to the level Cap. Most of the game, I only participated in Fates under two conditions. First, if a Fate popped up very near by, or if I was 80% towards another level, and wanted to tip over before heading to bed. In neither case did I have to play many Fates in a row, and under the former scenario there were usually few enough people playing the Fate, as to make it very challenging.

Playing this way, Story Quests lasted me till, halfway through level 49, and that is not counting the endgame story missions, which I haven't played yet.

This, despite having skipped several side quests. This, despite having participated in, "Zero," Guildheists as my primary class. This, despite having gone fairly light on Leves.

I don't know what other people are doing wrong, but these claims of having to grind Fates from level 43 to 50, are complete and utter "B-u-l-l-!"

You're picking an argument with the wrong guy here. I was just providing examples of why someone might be justified in giving the game a middling rating. I personally think the game's fantastic first 1 - 50 with story and side quests, but I recognize a lot of people won't be so forgiving of the shameless filler/padding quest lines, and those who are not OCD about completing every side quest will hit Fate grind road blocks on the way. Whether they could have avoided it or not is irrelevant to those who do. I'm not really sure what you would find exciting about Fates in the first place though, they're so thought-less, and require so little input, the stationary ones always spawned by an NPC's in the same spot are actually being botted at this point. How exciting. There are many other more serious issues stemming from Fates that I have gone into previously, so I won't bore anyone with it again. The problems related to raising second jobs (spoiler: endless Fates) and grind happy, repetitive 50's content speaks for itself. It's pretty awful.

Missed out on some sidequests myself and hit that road block around the tail end of 46. Ended up back tracking to one of the late-30 areas, then proceeded to fate grind until I witnessed the glory that is dark devices during off-peak hours.

I just did it for the first time.

The first time the tank was bad so everyone left :/

The second time we got a cool healer explain the dungeon and the enemies, the tank got upset almost at the beginning and left (again), we got another the tank who was a lot better but kind of a dick (I made a mistake and he said 'do it one more time and I'll leave', also 'fuck pug groups' when we beat the dungeon). I got killed when trying to do my limit break on the boss and got locked out of the fight :(

It was funny seeing both sides of the coin at the same time: a cool, noob-friendly healer who explained everything and a zero-tolerance tank asshole.
Fortunately for me, all the people that I've met so far have been pretty nice. Not the best players in the world (party getting lost, tank being slow, etc) but it was enjoyable nontheless when we made it through.

I know I'm gonna find some uptight asshole soon though and I'll most definitely quit the instance since I have zero tolerance to rudeness.

Well, I'm not sure why this is, but Fates seem to have a tendency to spawn, "right on top of me," or close enough by that they might as well be. So there have been several instances where I was already missing a large chunk of health, then ran into a Fate when nobody else was around to steal Aggro.

THOSE instances, have been both horrifying and hilarious! I mean, just picture a large imposing armored figure with a battle ax, running from an army of Hermit Crabs. XD

I laugh at my misfortune!

Besides that, NM type Fates can be hecka intense, especially when there are only two or three people taking on the enemy. The amount of juggling that you need to do, to keep HP, TP, and MP up, can make those encounters really intense. XD

Especially when you don't really know if other players are coming or not.

Thanks! :P Wasn't seeing it on any vendors, and mah god, I see a lot of gafers play. I just /saluted someone with the name starting "strawberry".

You are so, so not allowed to complain about that :<

I got rejected as a War tank for a hm group and I'm a hair off 7k hp in a full party.

I know your life is hard, but having only one spot for tanks, healers and DD have more chances to find a spot on a party.

But not gonna complain, is quite easy in every other case.

guess i'll try duty finder

You are better going to a casino or playing lottery.

Ugh, where can I buy orange juice? For the dye quest.

No, clue.

How do warriors even get the quest done when people don't even want them in their parties

Do it with your FC :D

I'm extremely sick of the fight, but we're doing Titan attempts all this week in the evenings, so hopefully I'll finally get him down.

If you don't have a solid FC, or god forbid you're using DF... good luck.

Killed Titan story-mode which was cool, now looking at the next dungeon Qarn.

I need another level to do it, but looking at the guides it seems like this one might be a bit complicated for a duty finder group. I've had some great parties so far (still haven't had one fail even with all the posts here about failing parties) so hopefully my luck continues.

Can you enter DF with a partial group?

i was dead long ago
Seriously though don't do this, I've been trying for about a week now with the DF and there's always a weak link that brings down the group.

The closest I got was from being matched up with a guy on the legacy server from the 1.0 GAF LS (sup jinko), and even then we didn't really get far past heart phase

How are PUGs doing on Titan these days?
Have done absolutely 0 PUG groups in quite a while for any endgame tier content.
I dunno. I don't do random groups. Last time I bothered was a few weeks ago on a CM run where everybody left because one person accidentally aggroed something.

well got to after heart phase with df pug and then everyone exploded to bombs after

anyone on ultros wanna do assemble and do practice titan hm runs for the fc practice runs

So random lore question I had randomly pop into my head.

Which beast tribe is Odin's? He's a Primal after all. Sure he's an Elder Primal, but even Bahamut still has a beast tribe if I'm not mistaken (Definitely got the impression the drakes/dragons in Coerthas were his)

He was quoted as a "Wandering Primal" who sought out tough opponents when he was showcased in artwork during the initial 2.0 reveal 2 years ago. He doesn't have a tribe.

Probably the Dark Elezen, if I had to guess. We know they had their own separate civilization in the area that eventually collapsed, and we know the fiveraces can and have worshipped primals at various times.

So the location and timeline would about fit.

Oh man, just tried doing the Svara fate.

SE probably made a kickass boss battle, but I sure would have liked to even see the boss, much less be able to target it.

How do I actually bring up the materia melding interface? I just did the quest from the bonfire with my 21 Weaver but right-clicking my materia, armor piece, or catalyst only allows me to 'discard.'

haha, pretty much. A love it when svara gets stuck on the side of the cliff and everyone clumps right on the edge to target her.

Seems like making FATE style events which scale decently (from a small group to a huge 30 man zerg) is a fairly unsolved problem in MMOs. Though I do still enjoy zerging them as a thaumaturge, since I get to tag all the mobs and probably do a disproportionate amount of the damage.

Turn 2 and 3 done tonight.

Turn 4 hopefully next week since we still need better gear for some BRDs and BLMs.

Nice!

My group got pretty far into Turn 2 but wasn't able to do it by bedtime last night. Hopefully we have more success tonight!

So I have Stone Vigil, Aurum Vale and Dzemael Darkhold unlocked now. Can't do the last one yet as I'm only 44 but I'm pushing 45. How are those two optional dungeons? And how is Stone Vigil?

I'm about to start raising weaver in earnest, and I remembered that someone linked to something that gave good info about the cross-class abilities that help with crafting, but I can't seem to find it. Does anybody have that, or want to give me a quick rundown of what I should learn from other crafting classes before I dive in completely?

Stone Vigil is a little annoying cause of the mobs but its alright.
The last boss of the dungeon though... Its a lil tough cause its hard to see the danger area. I was able to tank the boss with just a healer while the DPSs were down.

I'm on Ultros and i have to do the Hydra fight..
How much longer till Im done with the stinkin Relic Weapon quest?

How difficult is the Hydra battle? Any tips?
