Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

I'm glad to see a bunch of other juniors besides myself, gives me hope they aren't tainted yet by this thread and ready to endlessly debate size issues for pages and pages.

Welcome everyone!

I expect Mii to be confirmed playable.

Wait how the fuck am I gonna sprite that..?
You know the default face you get when you start a new Mii? Nondescript white guy with brown hair and a red shirt? Yeah, that guy. Sprite him.

"Okay, I'll just write "Mewtwo" for each of your votes. If you agree, please say your own name repeatedly"
Did I ever say "thank you" for being one of the few people to post the tooltip punchline alongside the comic? Well... thank you. Sincerely.

I think he may end up looking too similar to villager if they go with that look. Maybe default female instead?

Also, I would die for a VC GameCube announcement! Although quite a few pages back someone crushed my dreams of that explaining it would be a lot of work and would make more sense to just release HD versions of game like they did Wind Waker - :(

I'd love to see Paper Takamaru (?) from Nintendoland in SSB4.

His A-Attacks could be various sword attacks.

Neutral-B: Shuriken
Side-B: Claybomb
Down-B: Slow-Mo Counter (Causes 1sec of Slow-Mo after triggered)
Up-B: Some kind of Ninja Jump

Final Smash: Use the right stick to draw the symbols from the minigame:

- SPAM stronger versions of the Claybomb
- SPAM triple shurikens
- Slow-Mo now affects ALL opponents for the entire duration of the Final Smash (maybe around 10 seconds?)

Like in Nintendoland the symbols actually have to be drawn to enable scroll effects, making it sometimes more efficient to use only one or two of the effects depending on the situation.

Very rough moveset that probably wouldn't ever be used in this form, but I'd really like to see a representant of that minigame in Smash 4^^

I at least hope for a video tomorrow.

But I would feel a lot safer if Nintendo announced the unified account system.

With that I would go all digital already.

Eh, I wouldn't get your hope high for Smash. It would be nice if we did get something but we already got Toon Link.

I'm not expecting anything that direct. If we're lucky, maybe some gameplay since we haven't seen Peach, Olimar, Luigi or Toon Link in motion yet.

I hope not, they would probably never rerelease F-Zero GX, lol. But if they do that would be glorious.

Sorry to not be a debbie downer but nintendo is gonna announce something tomorrow, it may or may not be smash related, but something new like a game or something will be announced, they always announce something around this time.

Ridley coming in tomorrow direct. Here we go.

He is too scary to be in video, so that's why they had to get rid of him in the game. Sakurai realized that he would give a lot of kids the nightmare so he decided to get rid of Ridley just few days ago. That's why he haven't shown us the Ridley in the stage.

Nintendo always does this, though; they tell us the Direct is about a specific thing, then they surprise us by announcing or discussing something different. Of course the focus won't be on 2014 stuff, but it's not unreasonable to suppose they might mention Smash in some capacity.

Exactly, they always announce something around this time, nintendo said the same thing abut the event for wiiU, I myself told everybody to keep expectations in check, and then they hit us with bayonetta 2 and monster hunter ultimate

I'm keeping my hype expectations way low. The highest I'll let them get is hope for an announcement about N64/Gamecube games coming to VC.

And I still don't expect it to happen.

I really doubt there will be a new character or anything tomorrow, considering the Warning is still there from Toon Link--and thus far they've avoided revealing another character while the warning was still there, even to the point of removing Peach's a week earlier than usual to make room for Toon Link.

X? No chance. That game is kind of way too late and it's still unproven.

Xenoblade? I'd love that, even though I've never played the game, it would be nice to see new Nintendo franchises getting in Smash for the sake of freshness and awareness.

Maybe we'll be treated to eShop downloadable uncompressed gameplay for 3DS and Wii U.

3D video for 3DS, full 1080p video for Wii U.

I wish.

Weren't the videos Nintendo released after this year's E3 720p/1080p (depending on the game)?

I recall all trailers to look significantly better on the eShop than in the 720p stream or on Youtube...

I'm unsure for the Wii U, but I did notice the 3DS game looked significantly smoother on the eShop than Wii U, but obviously, due to compression, it didn't look good at all.

Well, YouTube compression is the worst thing ever. And a livestream is a livestream. :p

Yeah, but the true question is whether the videos of the 1080p games were actually in 1080p on eShop. The time it took me to load those things (compared to 720p youtube) says yes, but that could also be Nintendo's shitty servers...

They most likely were just upscaled to 1080p or something. Probably would have to contact Nintendo to find out the resolution of the videos.

This reminds me of Brawl's character reveals. It was going at one every week or so there for a bit, then slowed to an absolute crawl for months. I remember getting Diddy confirmed and before we even realized it there was Pokemon Trainer, then Dedede, Sonic, and so on.

Yeah, I'd forgotten about that. That was a glorious time, followed by a deeply troubling time. Someone should write a compendium about the Brawl Dojo and the subsequent reactions from the fan collective.

I've been thinking, since this is being made by Namco the netcode is bound to be godlike. Both Soul Calibur V and Tekken Tag 2 have some of the best netcode in fighting games. If Smash is anything like that, it'll easily be one of the premium online games for a long time.

Not expecting too much, but I just would like to see some more Mario and DK. If we can get new screens/info for Yoshi Yarn that'll be a surprise, honestly.

I would be content with seeing the new batch of veterans in motion, but I don't really expect anything Smash related to happen at the direct.

However, I do expect the orange Wii U and Devil World HD to be announced.
