From hate to contempt - Jon Stewart

At first I liked his show when I started to watch it. But over the last months I really learned to hate this guy because I realized what a fake, manipulative schlock he is. Jon Stewart's hypocrisy and sheer backstabbingness reaches far beyond those of his republican counteracts if only for the reason that they have the excuse of being just plain dumb.

I'm especially annoyed by his fake smile, his fake laughter and his creepy behavior where he would be all friendly and charming in front of somebody and then pull his knife out and stab him in the back. You know these small, uncalled for jabs when his true agenda is clear all the time. Stewart is a very insincere person who most of the times is either too afraid to tell his real opinion or is hiding behind the bushes intentionally.

Also on the occasion when he speaks his mind he always tries to seem smarter then he really is. He likes to talk in a very slow and choppy manner to give his words more weight, saying only things that have been stated before. He's expecting the applause afterwards for his cleverness and most of the times he get's it from his bootlicking audience.

That's the another point. His stupid audience who's applauding EVERYTHING. Not realizing that they are as dumb as the people they are hollering against. To Stewart's credit I heard that he actually sees this the same way and heavily dislikes his audience for that. But of course he's too cowardish to call them out for it or do something else against it. Because they pay for his show and lifestyle. Mindless hollering is just a very American thing I guess.

And so is putting yourself down as a host it seems. Half of his humor consists of jokes about how small, weak, dumb, poor(!), powerless or whatever Stewart is. Again, a very popular, almost necessary quality in the American culture it seems. But this makes him even more fake. John Stewart is a millionaire and every time he tries to equal himself with his audience he's a hypocrite. And these people are buying it.

What put the nail in the Stewart coffin was when I watched his first post 9/11 show which I missed at the time. This was disgusting on a scale beyond anything I've ever seen in regards to such an event. I almost puked. How this guy had the impudence to sit there and pretent to cry like a complete idiot is beyond me. Not only in hindsight was this laughable because the event clearly was not what it seemed at the time, but nine days after 9/11 all shock should've already vanished and be replaced by a kind of sober sense of reality - at least for the more intellectual people of whom Stewarts claims to be one or at the very least for a journalist, which he also kind of wishes to be.

Nowadays his show consists of making fun of Hillary Clinton and trying as hard as he can to push Barack Obama as the next democratic candidate for presidency. And of course to edit Bush clips in a way to make him seem even more like an idiot which is rather sad if you have to resort to such cheap tricks with a president like that. And the audience? Claps and hollers. Yes, they are just the same idiots at the other end of the scale.

What first seemed like a smart and educated show and a smart and educated (and funny) host now turned out to be the same kind of trite and dishonest collection of media bullshit. Stewart is no less of sellout than his colleagues at Fox with the only difference being that he's playing a kind of antagonist. Jon Stewart is a phony who's living off his fake image of a man of the people while he's just a calculating pompous asshole, sitting in his comfortable little chair and pointing and giggling at the things around him.

I despise Jon Stewart!

Just kidding! :lol I love you, Jon! Hope to see you soon! (Really, what an asshole!)

audiences are the youtube comments of television.

The groupthink audience annoys the hell out of me too, but to be fair all present news shows pander to a particular audience. Scary thing is the Daily Show might be the most neutral (except for the interviews where Stewart freely often expresses his disagreements with right leaning guests, though he did recently trash Chris Matthews)

I agree. There are few things more disgusting than an audience showing agreement by clapping or whatever. It's fucking stupid. I hate it. I stop watching whenever it happens.

People do realize that this is a joke thread right?
It doesn't matter. When somebody presents an idea, discussing that idea should be totally independent of whether the poster was sincere or not.

And here we thought he was pulling off a great satirical stunt in that other Jon Stewart thread. Oh, never underestimate GAF!

So Huffington reported today that during the WGA strike, Jon Stewart is going to top up all his (and Colberts) writers' salaries to their normal rate out of his own pocket so that their families are not negatively impacted by the strike and to show solidarity to their cause. What an insincere guy.

I can't even tell who's joking anymore.

Actually Stewart's agent proved that false

My only gripe with Jon Stewart (and this isn't even his fault) is his show's audience. God, those audiences annoy me to no end.

Wow! That's a lot of hate for a comedian. The state of the media, in this country, has gotten to such a shitty state that we now criticize a fake news show for its content. Jesus H. Christ. PEACE.

Reading that shit made my head hurt. Of course he is fucking insincere, he plays everything he can up for laughs. It is a fake news show. He will talk up a republican guest on his show one night and as soon as they are not in the studio he fucks them over for laughs on the next show. Welcome to Comedy Central.

It's only Monday so let's just have one shitty thread a week kids, K?

Might want to decide whether this is really a joke thread or not, can't tell

Every negative thing about Jon Stewart you stated is based off your baseless certainty that he is insincere
I mean, come on. Also, I'm disgusted that anyone could watch the post-9/11 show and honestly think he was faking that.

I like Conan O'Brien, but I hate his fake laugh. You can totally tell if he is really laughing at the story/jokes of his guests or if he's just faking it.

Btw. how about banning "weekend GAF" remarks?

I know that this post has absolutely nothing to do with Jon Stewart

I haven't watched The Daily Show in years but from what i remember the only thing that really irked me was that Jon would always tear into his male interviewees but only flirt with the female ones.

That's pretty fucked up to question his sincerity of his feelings on his post 9/11 show, because whatever you feel about the guy there is no doubt what he was saying there (like most of us, the weeks that followed in shock) was sincere and free of the majority of political bias.

Edit: UH JUST KIDDING LOL I LOVE YOU POSTER
