I actually thought these guys wrote there own scripts. This whole thing has me saying uh? You would think a whole season of Heroes is already filmed yet they say this my hold up things. These damn writers want to much. If you want such a big piece of the pie then produce and finance these projects.

I think up to episode 11 is done

And your contribution to comedy is...what?

So, you thought Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert wrote every word of their respective shows? And, creating an episodic television drama is the same as a daily television show that comments on the day's news? Huh. Yeah, screw those writers! What do they do? Nuthin'. It's the people who charge the advertisers who are the real creators. I say, let them write the shows and they can keep the whole pie. It'll be comedy gold!

You know, I don't think it will come to this, but it will be interesting to see the whole Hollywood system collapse and what would take its place. In international markets, this could make a real difference.

Is this the reason why liberals have the rep of being good, conscionable people and conservatives are thought of as evil and selfish?

Don't be all talk, make it so. It'll be fun.

If it goes wrong for you, you can always say that Instigator made you do it.

The agonizing pain made Polyphemus scream out, so loud in fact that it brought the neighboring Cyclopes to see what was wrong. "Who is hurting you" asked the other Cyclopes, Polyphemus screamed "nobody is hurting me".

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe most Hollywood writers get paid very much, at least not nearly as much as the actors, directors, producers ect... I also might be wrong about this, but isn't the writer's strike because they aren't getting paid to write extra material? I'm pretty sure you'd want to go on strike too if you had to do work you aren't getting paid for. I don't see the problem (other than shows being canceled) someone open my eyes.

This guy is still an asshole and I'm inclined to write a thread about how much I hate him. Maybe if I'll find the time tomorrow.

:lol wha?

Anyway ... nice move by Stewart if true.

So that 'denial' means he's still paying them, though. If I'm reading that correctly.

They are going on strike because they feel they aren't getting a big enough cut of the DVD and internet profits.

These damn writers want to much.

Everything you see and everything you hear is the work of a writer. Without writers you'd be stuck in some desolate ice-chest of a world without tv, movies, radio, magazines, books, traffic signs, text for condom wrappers, and directions for how much of your prescription to take.

Writing is also a pretty thankless job. Half of the people in this thread thought that Jon Steward wrote his entire show. He does help write it, but without a room full of pen-juggling geniuses he'd burn out after two shows.

Can you remember the writers of your favorite movies? Who writes that freakin' Heroes show everyone's twirling around and screeching about?

We can't just expect the monkeys to keep churning out their magic typewriter dust and then not strike when they feel they are getting screwed.

More power to Stewart if this is true and more power to the writers for giving up what they love to do and the money they get to do it, in order to stand up for themselves.

Yea Stewart doesn't do it on his own.

Mid way through this clip they list almost every writer for all the later night talk shows. As you can see there are alot of writers for each show that are now on strike

Fair enough, (bad on me for not reading the article), but that really isn't my point. He better be giving his staff gold-plated BJ's. He wasn't funny when he was writing his own stuff years ago as a stand up comic.

So what, even if Stewart is paying them, they aren't writing so there won't be any new shows until the strike is over?

Basically. Unless they do an interview only show

LOL POOR REPORTING

PAYMENT BY STEWART AND/OR BUSBOY DENIED

DOWN WITH YOU, STEWARTTTTTT [jk..]

Btw, why do people like the Report so much? I mean, it was fantastic in 2006, but right now...erm.....it's lame. Colbert keeps making cheap stunts/overdone jokes.

The report and the Daily Show are like night and day. The Report is a spin off that has run its course. The Mother of it, aka Daily Show is still a blast like it has been for the last 6 years.
