That is not accurate and has not been the entire time I've been here.
I have no idea if this is true but I don't have the capability to IP ban users and neither does any other moderator.

Has never been the case, yeah. For as long as I've been running things, mods and admins have acted independently while coordinating with each other informally, and I've vetoed or modified occasionally after the fact if necessary. Prior to my official taking over in '04, the same rules applied, essentially, except that I would act like I ran the place and hope for the best instead of actually running the place. ;b (see: temporarily demodding bish back then...)

So, in theory, if I were to be banned tomorrow, and felt that my ban was unjustified, who would I contact? Is there even someone to contact?
I never even thought it was possible to be unbanned. I lurked here for years before registering, never wanting to take the dive because I can have very controversial opinions at times, and thought a ban was basically inevitable.

How many lives you got left? There was also golfham/three note. I remember him from Lost and Rock Band threads. He outted himself, but was spared. I think he's permabanned again, though.
When you think about it, a good portion of banned posters are still among us, under different names. They're everywhere...

It's happened from time to time. Sometimes a perm will be reconsidered after a discussion among mods, or if new information comes to light. Sometimes someone is accidentally junior permed when they were actually just rejuniored to stop them making threads, and the ban will be changed to temp as soon as someone spots the error. Sometimes we'll let an alt account slide (usually grounds for an insta-perm) if someone has clearly made an effort to become a better poster.
This actually reminds me of that time waaay back in probably 05/06 where the forum got hacked and whoever did it (someone in Australia IIRC?) started banning pretty much everyone, I remember people flipping out for a little bit before they took it down and reversed everything.
I wish bans were more transparent for the rest of us... every time I see a ban I think "wow shit was it this comment that got them banned or something else entirely"; hard to learn what's what. Also it'd be cool to know if people were perm'ed or just temp'ed.

I believe Frankman was permabanned during Cunt-Gate, but then Evilore came in and shat in PC-GAF's mouth, and Frankman was subsequently pardoned.

Permanent juniors are my favorite bans. There's nothing wrong with being a junior but those are my fav.
Edit:I mean being stuck as a junior not being banned permanently because you were a junior.
